Just imagine the old loot system without any kind of AH... it would have been the worst game ever.
The old loot system would not have existed without the AH though. The Ah was _the_ reason drops were so crappy.

Honestly, I think $9.99 is what the game should cost across the board. It's not a bad game, but it' not a deep game either. I would compare it to an XBox Arcade title.

When your defense of the game consists of "See! This sucked in D2 also!" then you have already lost, regardless of whether you are correct or not. Kind of like Obama supporters touting how Bush Jr. had a poor record on issues X, Y, and Z as well. That's not a defense, it just means that you both suck.

Fact is, I had fun playing DII for a long time, I had fun playing DIII for like 4 weeks total over a 3.5 month period. I don't even care what the reasons are anymore, I don't have fun playing the game, so I moved on.

    ...

"So I moved on"... why am I still posting in this forum? I suppose I'm still hanging back to see if the game gets to a point in which I want to come back.

posted a message on BoA does not belong in the Diablo Universe
    Quote from LeChokeJames

I love how this complaint is coming out as if there aren't already BOA items existing in the game.

But that's 'kay. Guess what, the ring is a reward for doing essentially a long quest. Everyone is going to get the ring sooner or later. Maybe you expect that your legendary ring reward not be bind to account so that you can sell it. But guess what, even if the ring has stats and is a good item to have it would have NO VALUE because the market would be saturated with them and everyone would be able to get their own anyway.

    Get over it.

There's no BoA gear... well, not yet anyway. And I am so sick of hearing the AH used to defend game design decisions. The AH was a massive mistake in my opinion and I don't care how the AH will be affected at all, ever. Admittedly this is just my opinion, not necessarily an absolute.

Also gtfo out with this way to WoWify Diablo criticism. What does that even mean? I would love to hear someone expand on that complaint.

    ...really?

    1. The artistic style of the game.
    2. The AH.
    3. The compulsive need to "balance" this game which, last I checked, is an ARPG, and requires no such balance. In fact, it just makes the game less fun.
    4. Forcing multi-player down out throats with an online-always policy, as if it could not have been implemented any other way.
    5. Upcoming BoA gear, if only one piece.

WoW aside, it's obvious that an MMO mentality has had a major influence on this game.

    Quote from Vyce223

No, no TL2 is greatness. It's pretty much a person who played diablo 2 and liked it next step forward. I mean I've had it for... 4? or so days now not to mention i didn't get to play it today and i invested 27 hours into it. Boss battles are much more than Diablo 3. Really the only thing it lacks in... or actually does terrible in is storytelling but 95% of people don't give a crap about the story either way.

Ohh and yes I do fully expect to be called out as a liar here.

Well, I said I wasn't expecting greatness, doesn't mean I'm not hoping for it :D I'll know soon enough.

posted a message on Am I the only one who thinks WW barbs should get some sort of nerf? :)
Keep your talk of nerfs away from ARPGs please. This isn't an MMO, we don't require "balance". If barbs are the best... then buff the other classes.

It also wasn't a bad idea to begin with. It was an amazing idea. So basically instead of an endless dungeon we have the whole D3 world to explore for loot? So instead of making predefined runs, we can go anywhere and it has a chance to give us elite monsters to kill? Awesome!

So, I agree with everything you said, but I would have *vastly* preferred an infinite dungeon. Because the world maps are static (I don't think that a cave here or there popping up constitutes sufficient randomization) they would get boring no matter what. The world ain't big, the world don't change. An infinite, randomized dungeon would be awesome.

Of course... if the world were randomized... that would be awesome too.

Good advice, but often times for class assignments, you do actually have to reinvent the wheel.

Saying that D2 functioned "perfectly" is just as ridiculous.

Which of course I never said, but ok.

I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. All I know is that I want very much to like this game, but the pattern for me seems to be have fun -> get bored -> wait for patch -> have fun -> get bored -> repeat. I don't care enough to debate why anymore, all I know is it isn't holding my interest, and that's a shame.
The same went for me for D2, to be perfectly honest, except "wait for patch" is sometimes replaced with "wait for ladder reset". What I did back in those days were to pick up another game and play it. Perhaps you should do the same.

Yeah, I just... really want to like Diablo. I haven't been playing much at all lately. I'll probably be back to WoW come MOP and... Marvel Heroes looks awesome.
