The stuff datamined months ago from when the F&F beta started already had all these "ladder" references. They obviously want to have it and want it to work, they just didn't know how exactly.
It's hard to do it, because some people want the "fresh start" with characters all level 1 and renewed economy (though we don't have an economy anymore), some just want a type of "race" without having to play with non-geared low level characters, some want Paragon levels and experience to be reset...
And then you have problems with the rewards... some want specific rewards, exclusive ladder legendaries, some want higher drop ratio for ladders, some want cosmetics and ladder achievements, some don't want any of that crap because they don't want to be left out of content because they don't want to compete...
Everyone talks about ladders as if it was so obvious to implement them, and how... but they don't take into account the other types of players. From a dev standpoint, it's a nightmare finding a good middle ground.

2Handers absolutely must be significantly better than 1handers to be even considered by players. Why, you might ask? Because they have to make up for(in Monk/Barbs case): Either a shield or more commonly... 15% ias, 200-400 primary stat, an extra gem slot (+11%+ damage to elites or +100%-110% crit hit damage). They do make up for the stat, but 15% ias AND an extra gem slot is MASSIVE. In the case of Witch doctor & Wizard it has to make up 220 average damage(on a 1.6s weapon, ~350 dps) for an average offhand. I know jack about demon hunter gearing, so I won't comment on their bows vs xbow vs 1h crossbows.Quote from Chudz
1300 dps is working as intended 2h have never had significantly more dps than 1 nor should they. They have high alpha damage and slow attack speed. It has nothing to do wit's why they are bad ATM. The reason why they are bad is that they only role 4 primary stats and a socket is also a primary stat. So after it has roled say dex and % damage and elemental damage and a socket your don't get much better. No room for life on hit or crit etc.
15% IAS and an Extra gem slot. Up to 350-400 DPS(base), 10% crit as well as flavor. These are the two things you give up to go 2h. At the very least, 2H should be seeing 1600-1700 base DPS, and EVEN THEN they may not be optimal, due to gems. (We're seeing 1300-1400 DPS 1Hs with gem slots and 300+ primary stat on top of the end rolls. Two of these are equivalent of ~1610 DPS. Couple 100% crit hit damage, and you've got a lot to make up here.)
So Yes, 2Hs should have a significant advantage over 1Hs. Otherwise there is no reason to use a 2H except in niche builds, and even in those it may be seen as disadvantageous over simply using a 1h with a shield. I can't even fathom when a 2.0 rolled 2H can ever be even considered on a witch doctor or Wizard, due to how powerful offhands are.
Blizzard also agrees with this, as can be seen by crafted items. *spoilers*:

shaggy posted a message on Blizzard is Unaware of Diablo 3's Downfall...Please stop embedding songs as some kind of statement. It seems highly-tangential and argumentative. It was annoying when Indimix did it. It's annoying here too. It doesn't matter what "side" of the argument you're on... it's just annoying. Perhaps just put in a link to the lyrics or something, I don't know.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
More on-topic...
There are plenty of examples on this forum of people who have basically admitted they got too hyped up and too emotionally-vested in a game. The guy who started the "D3 is designed for consoles" thread basically admitted to what most would consider a very unhealthy level of "fandom" which clearly played a large role in his ultimate letdown in the game.
It may not necessarily be entitlement culture, but there are definitely undercurrents on these forums that it's Blizzards #1 job to please each of us on an individual basis. So perhaps that's not entitlement but more a ridiculous, grandiose, and irrational sense of self-importance. -

If you liked Diablo III, you will almost surely like Torchlight II.
That said, if you didn't like Diablo III but have liked past Diablo games, Torchlight is different enough from Blizzard's newest game that it just may be your thing.
So don't worry! Whatever you do, you'll definitely like Torchlight II! -

Olden_Soul posted a message on Loot is still breaking this gameI agree a little... Mostly because Ihave killed 109,610 total monsters, and 5992 of those were elites, and I only found ONE Legendary, it was a Stormshield I was able to sell for 80 dollars on RMAH. Yeah, great, awesome profit. But it only took 150+ hours of game-play.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Yeah, I get it, my MF is only 140, but for a DH that's already too much because I have horrible defensive abilities, but a whopping 100k DPS :D.
So just putting it out there, there ARE people who play and play and play, have three level 60's (almost 5) and have nothing to show for all the play except what he's able to buy. -

Fact is, I had fun playing DII for a long time, I had fun playing DIII for like 4 weeks total over a 3.5 month period. I don't even care what the reasons are anymore, I don't have fun playing the game, so I moved on.
...
"So I moved on"... why am I still posting in this forum? I suppose I'm still hanging back to see if the game gets to a point in which I want to come back.

There's no BoA gear... well, not yet anyway. And I am so sick of hearing the AH used to defend game design decisions. The AH was a massive mistake in my opinion and I don't care how the AH will be affected at all, ever. Admittedly this is just my opinion, not necessarily an absolute.
...really?
1. The artistic style of the game.
2. The AH.
3. The compulsive need to "balance" this game which, last I checked, is an ARPG, and requires no such balance. In fact, it just makes the game less fun.
4. Forcing multi-player down out throats with an online-always policy, as if it could not have been implemented any other way.
5. Upcoming BoA gear, if only one piece.
WoW aside, it's obvious that an MMO mentality has had a major influence on this game.
Well, I said I wasn't expecting greatness, doesn't mean I'm not hoping for it I'll know soon enough.

So, I agree with everything you said, but I would have *vastly* preferred an infinite dungeon. Because the world maps are static (I don't think that a cave here or there popping up constitutes sufficient randomization) they would get boring no matter what. The world ain't big, the world don't change. An infinite, randomized dungeon would be awesome.
Of course... if the world were randomized... that would be awesome too.

Good advice, but often times for class assignments, you do actually have to reinvent the wheel.

Yeah, I just... really want to like Diablo. I haven't been playing much at all lately. I'll probably be back to WoW come MOP and... Marvel Heroes looks awesome.

Which of course I never said, but ok.
I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. All I know is that I want very much to like this game, but the pattern for me seems to be have fun -> get bored -> wait for patch -> have fun -> get bored -> repeat. I don't care enough to debate why anymore, all I know is it isn't holding my interest, and that's a shame.
