    Quote from Drat3r

The first inferno Diablo kill was with a wizard.. I can't see how he's underpowered.

Bosses hit very hard, but also relatively slow since its just one mob. This means that Energy Armor w/ Force Armor is super effective vs bosses. You can find Youtube videos of wizards tanking inferno bosses with 7k hp (less hp actually makes Force Armor even better). So for boss fights wizards are the strongest of all the classes. However that doesn't mean the wizard is amazing in every aspect of the game.

I'm not saying wizards are underpowered/overpowered. I'm just warning against making a judgement call based on boss kills because right now Force Armor makes wizards gods vs bosses.

Only level 26, but I'm not a fan of meteor at all. With the huge AP cost and the delayed strike meteor seems very lackluster for the damage it puts out; I get more bang for the buck just channeling disintegrate into a pack of mobs.

Right now I'm loving Electrocute, Disintegrate, and Arcane Hydra.

Based on my beta experience Volatility will lose a lot of effectiveness in team play vs solo. After they moved Electrocute to level 15 the next viable source of AoE was Shock Pulse w/ Explosive Bolts, but I noticed a huge drop in the AoE proc in team games because you don't always land the killing blow. Explosive Bolts has a 100% proc rate vs Volatility's 35% chance which is roughly 1 in 3. So not only do you have to make sure to be actually killing the mobs (which is pure luck most of the time), but also you are fighting with the rng that is built into the rune.

Convergence would be great while leveling up and then swapping to Intensify at level 59 would net you better results in team games.

The rune discription is clearly written: You can cast tele multiple times for one second and then the cooldown starts. Until we see the rune in action the number of teleports you can squeeze into that window is pure speculation. I'm guessing you can chain 2-4 tele's at most before the skill goes on cd.

If you think the skill is going to completely remove the cd on teleport you are dreaming.

Energy Twister is just a bad skill. This is not a troll post; I was like you and thought/wanted it to be an amazing skill, but after playing around with it for 30 minutes in beta I dropped it. Unless they completely revamped the skill between the last beta build and release I can't see anyone using it for a serious build.

Since it's so easy to swap skills you don't really lose out on anything trying it, but I can assure you that after seeing it in action you'll be looking for something else as well.

If there are rooms like that I'd rather just drop a few Meteors in there instead. Meteor will be great for those rooms AND for open areas with smaller packs of mobs (situations where Energy Twister rng is going to make the skill worthless most of the time).

I'm assuming you didn't get a chance to try Twister in the beta because that's not how the skill works at all. You only get the tooltip damage if the twister is on top of a mob for the ENTIRE duration. Mobs are always heading towards you and twisters are always moving away, couple that with the random movement and the skill is horrible. If you are lucky enough that the twister actually makes contact with the mob it passes over it only dealing 1-2 ticks of damage, so you get a small fraction of the actual damage.

In your scenario I'd rather blow through my AP with something like Arcane Orb which will deal SIGNIFICANTLY more damage than Energy Twister before falling back on a signature skill. I'm not trying to be an ass, and I'm not trying to say I'm better/smarter than you. I love the idea of Energy Twister and the skill looks absolutely amazing. I really wanted it to be good and tried using it in multiple scenarios to see if I could find a situation where it would be effective. Every single time it failed. It just sucks man, sorry. :(

That is useful information, but the way it was presented is fairly confusing.

I agree. I could have stated: wizards, try to use slow weapons if you're channeling.
Or i could have said: faster weapons will drain your arcane power way faster than it should while you're channeling due to an inconsistency. Please be aware of it.

Something like that. It's oversimplification but it's true.

Fast weapon drain your AP faster, but they deal the same dps as slow weapons up until your AP is spent. You also have to take into consideration that time spent at max AP is a dps loss (since your regen is effectively wasted). Using a slow weapon on a high movement encounter will almost certainly be a dps loss vs a faster weapon. Why? Because being able to dump your AP faster before having to move will allow you to fully utilize your regen.

I really doubt most boss encounters are going to allow you to sit there and channel a spell onto a boss for a significant amount of time.

Energy Twister is going to be completely useless. The only hope is that the AoE of the runed Tornado is massive.

    Quote from Ruppgu

The more I think about it, the more I'm getting worried that Inferno will be a 1-2 shot feast. I was really hoping for skilled play and tactical uses of health globes. That all goes out the window if we get 1-2 shot. The evidence is starting to pile up though... I mean... even with 60% DR, you'll get 2 shot by a single accursed.... and that's just talking about if you're fighting a single monster... well guess what? You'll be fighting more than a single monster at a time. =\

    I hope I'm wrong.

It might be a 1-3 shot fest until you get better gear. A lot of people don't seem to remember how hard monsters hit in Hell difficulty in Diablo 2. When you first came out of Nightmare and into Hell even the basic zombies could hit you for a massive chunk of your life.

Did you all not play D2, or has it been so long that you just forgot?

Blizzard has said you will need to farm hell to be successful in Inferno Act 1 and farm Act 1 inferno to progress to Act 2. People called "bullshit", and just got a dose of reality. The obvious response to the Inferno monster stats is: you will die a bunch just like they promised you would until you get the gear needed to handle the monsters.

posted a message on Energy Twister build !
    Quote from Riesza

Twister is really... ugh. It's too random to be reliable. You may waste all your AP and do no damage just to be regenerating for the next 10 or so seconds.

As it is right now, I wouldn't include it in any build, let alone base builds around it.

I agree completely. Energy Twister as it appeared in beta is absolute trash. Based on the random movement and how it deals damage (mobs only take a fraction of the tooltip damage) it would still be terrible at 1000% weapon damage. From my beta experience the only two glyphs that have any chance of saving the skill are: the one that makes it stationary and the one that causes a tornado to form when two twisters collide. Even then it might not be enough to salvage the skill.

Don't get me wrong; I love how the skill looks and I wish it was amazing, but it's terrible.
