you guys want to see something amusing.. take your best toon.. open up a Normal Act 1 game then open it to public... it will filling very quickly and as you blaze thru guiding the lowbies watch as their achievements fly up like it was release week.
Happens to me anytime i do lowbie escorts with my DH, be it normal-hell there is almost always 1-2 in group getting fresh achieves, heck about half my Inferno groups do it as well
inferno pubs...reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaly pisses me off. Havent bothered with them since 2 weeks after launch. people walking random directions pulling as much mobs as possible linking every crappy drop they get and telling what the item would need in order to be 100million, no ty, ill pass
Diablo 3 is an item lottery (Diablottery), so when you bought the game, you knew it. In a single act1 farm run, you get 50-60 rare items in 1-2 hours, just imagine what would happen if at least half of it would be 'good', sellable item. The price of the 'good' items would drop to the floor, and nobody could make any gold in the AH, and I suppose, this is your problem: you can't make money in AH. The increase of the 'good' item's drop rate wouldn't solve your problem!
Everyone just expect the loots to clear act 3 inferno uberfast to drop in a single run, or at least 1 part of it. Its better that they keep the good loots rare so not everything devaluates as crazy. And also if you farm act 1, dont expect to find crazy loot to clear act 3 all the time. The loot to clear the game and farm all act at a slow pace drops like all the time, but the loot to farm like mad is rare, so expensive.
I can clear act 3 pretty fast now with around 300% mf, in 1-1.5 hours i clear rougly 75% of act 3, i find mostly crap during these runs but I noticed that if you just keep improving your farm route and your gear you will ALLWAYS end up with a few items that make you some money on the AH. to all the naysayers on this, screw u and keep farming.
Not to be mean but your doing it wrong, this game isn't about farming drops it's about farming the AH till you find cheap awesome gear thought everyone knew that??
No seriously though this game's RNG is abysmal at best it's will be awesome for some and utter crap for others RNG is a cruel mistress. Play the game enjoy it scan AH for cheap upgrades it's what I did and I got to act 3 on my DH relatively easilly, No imba gear hear just cheap stuff off AH and things I find, Once bought a 934dps Xbow with 280 dex 280 str and 50% crit for 150k and that weap I only replaced just recently so it's possible with not so awesome gear, YOU CAN DO IT.
I pleased rng very well, and she returned the favor.
meteor - comet also has a decent coefficient if im not mistaken, and the dot it leaves is 0.5 which ticks pretty fast. Might wanna try that out alogn with spectral blades
I'm discussing the same issue on battlenet with posters there too, I think (and I knew this before I posted it) the issue is I have to go to the fricken AH for my gear, which I think royally sucks because I haven't found it in the game. So that is really my gripe here, I should be able to find everything I need in game. I'm in the Fields of Misery and I have found only 1 thing, some chest armor which stats are only partly better than my old armor in normal mode.
I have no interest in the AH, I have no plan on visiting Sanctuary's version of Ebay. I should be able to find adequate gear in the game, like both earlier versions of Diablo did, that would solve the problem right there. If Jay is so hell bent on people using the AH he could have at least integrated the feature with the merchants inside the game, that way at least you don't feel like you are being herded into some cheesy tool.
ORIGINAL POST 08/24/12
You should watch the youtube video (showing patch 1.0.4) before reading my comments.
When Diablo 1 launched in 98, I bought it and loved it. The game was entertaining; game-play scaled well keeping it interesting as I descended further down into the dungeon.
When Diablo 2 launched I bought that too, as before the game was entertaining and scaled well between each act and as you progressed from normal to nightmare. Hell mode was more than I cared for and I never bothered playing hardcore mode. I was happy with the normal and nightmare mode for a long time.
Diablo 3 launches, I play normal mode with all 5 characters first pass and I love it! Then I move onto nightmare mode, I quickly realize it’s a little tougher than nightmare mode in Diablo 2 but it’s still fun and think I’ll grow to like it. After taking out Leoric and moving onto the fields of misery it becomes apparent that the mini-bosses have crossed the line from challenging to just fricken ridiculous.
As you can see in the video I defeat them without dying, but instead of charging ahead with some challenge I have to fall back again and again to while firing on them. I don’t find this kind of game-play very fun at all, I’m supposed to be the !@# kicking hero of sanctuary; instead I’m the struggling hero who defeats my enemies by laughably beating them to death with my fly swatter while running for my life. It’s obvious my weapons and attacks do way too little damage.
Before anyone tells me I need to go to the auction house to buy better swag, or to build my character a special way, or play in a group setting understand I didn’t really need to do that in Diablo or Diablo 2. I don’t think I should have to go to the auction house to get good bling; I should be able to find that in the game like I always could before. I don’t think I should have to become character build expert to defeat nightmare mode, which was the original appeal to Diablo over other RPG games. I have a job and a lot of responsibilities, I don’t have time to obsess over my character build.
I love Diablo 3 normal mode. 10 years of anticipation and $320.00 buying a copy for me and each of my family, I kind of feel like I got robbed, it’s very disappointing.
Instead of charing in with some challenge....ur a demon hunter. What do you expect .....
To be facetanking all mobs and still be a ranged class. As ranged you have to keep the distance between you and you will have to kite.
If you want to charge in take monk or barb....dont whine that a game is not fun when you expect to go melee with a ranged class.
You think standing in one place 24/7 as a dh and shooting stuff is more fun than having to actually think a bit where to move?
I have found 6 legendary's since the patch. It has defiantly been increased.
The legendary drop rates havent been increased. passive mf just helps.
I am archonning through act 3 for a few weeks now with around 200 mf equipped and the same number of legendaries drop.
I got one good one though, Zunimassa's pox with 4,5 crit chance on it
Mortar has a new graphic that displays where the projectile will land.
Molten explosion when a mob dies has a new graphic that visually shows you how big the radius is.
If this is true, I do not like those changes one bit. I like the randomness of kiting mortar mobs and the risk of dying. If you see where they are going to land, it trivializes everything. I also liked the old molten explosion effect, I knew to get the hell out after it died.
before 1.04 you could also know where they land, its still random where they go, but its not random to know where they land.
I actually think tank characters will do very well in PvP against glass canons. Think of a barb with 75% armor reduction, 75% resistance reduction, 30% base reduction and probably another 10%-15% reduction from items. They actually end up taking about 3-5% of damage. Now factor in that they can be blocking upto 50% and dodge 10%.
Let's not forget leap for 4 seconds and ignore pain for 7.
Ancient spear was pretty much designed for PvP as well.
since when is pvp inferno mode? I surely hope melee chars dont get 30% reduction. The reduction was only needed cause you would get hit by several mobs in order to do damage. I think the reduction will be removed for melee chars, or at least lowered
Im more worried about running out of content in an expansion than about the story. Normally I love stories in the game but D3 has become kind of boring. However its a cool idea, hoping to see some of these ideas in the expansion.
After reading this I think you are a little bit confused how exacly MF works. First of all any MF beyond 5 NV stacks increases QUALITY, not QUANTITY. With 5 stacks NV you have 100% chance that at least 1 rare item will drop from elite/rare pack. So with no MF past 5 stacks you will get rares but most of them will suck. Also the key is to get that 8k dps more but stay at current MF ;).
it does not increase QUALITY, lets put it like this a champion pack drops a certain ammount of items rare/white/grey/rare and are of random ilvl, the higher the ilvl the lower the chance to drop. MF will increase the chance that those items instead of white/grey are blue/rare/legendary. it certainly does not increase the QUALITY of the item. blizzard even made a post about it. but more rares, means more ilvl 63 rares means better items if you are lucky.
1. Working as intended and any type of cc/stun/snare/root/lifeLEACH is reduced by % on inferno [75% if i`m not mistaking]. So your 2s stun is actually ... do the math, only 25% of actual duration.
Which means there is no reason to use those skills unless you completely devote to a specific build. Build diversity demands that they be useful in any build :|
About the % weap damage, perhaps there are some bugged skills/runes that are not working as they are supposed to but just an example cyclone monks: a huge part of theyr damage 50-70% is entirely made by that skill which deals only 20% of weapon dmg.
I don't know, if it were a bug I figured they would have fixed it by now. I'm just basing this off of my own observations. Of how using certain skills feels like your trying to tickle opponents to death.
Could you post something about your class/spec?
Basic example:
Spell A. 10k dmg - casttime: 1s
Spell B. 4k dmg - casttime: 0.4s
You see how that math adds up? Cast-times are ofc totally random in my example, but I can't stop wondering if you maybe see more "small numbers" compared to big? Like maybe 2.5x as many 4k-numbers as 10k-numbers when you change spec?
Ofc there are specs you just can not get to work - like building a wizard with pure defensive skills(i.e.: diamond skin, teleport, force armor, mirror image, time warp and magic weapon), so a part of the game is also figuring out what works and what doesn't. I play a wizard thus I'm obviously inclined to inspect more wizards, and I've yet to see two wizards with the same build(except wicked-wind melee-build, but that's probably only because it has been quite hyped lately).
I had a tank wizard. I stacked resistances and armor, had a board and helm of the command, decent string of ears.
I had mirror immage, duplicates and illusionist, energy armor (started with force armor but swapped to several others when i had some better gear). My damage was really low but once i used damage reflect on diamond skin and meteor - comet (cause it is very good with life on hit) I did some decent damage. Very fun build, but it can't kill stuff as fast as Archon, thats why i only use it sometimes in groups bt hardly ever for solo farming
