I think hes looking at his own image on the seat of justice. It might not actually be there in the physical sense, but when Tyrael looks at the seat of justice, he simply sees an image of his Angelic former self.

However, Instead of walking back towards his seat to reclaim his angelic powers and place as Archangel of Justice, he instead turns and takes a different path. One towards the (now empty) seat of Wisdom, given that Malthael was lost.

This would effectively make that the room where the Angiris council convened. So there should be no real stretch or surprise that he sees his own image on his old seat - and there are another 4 in the room, one of which he turns to instead.

This is quote possibly the most bad-ass quote ever: "Even in the heart of Heaven, Angels can still feel fear".

I think that might match my old favourite. ("STOP.. The beast contained herein... etc").

posted a message on [SPOILERS] Tyrael = GIGANTIC Plothole?
I edited my post, Choda, with a few lines that would explain it. Tyrael 'being human' is more a metaphor. He doesnt have to be human in the physical sense , but he wants to embody what it represents to be human. As said above, hes clearly still magical and has angelic abilities.

    --

I think an answer to this thread is basically summed up as Tyrael now sees humans as an evolution of Angels and Demons to embrace. This would signal a pretty big change in the story, because they're currently thought of as 'the degraded offspring of angels and demons' - and even feared. But now can be revered as beings that aren't bound to their birthright (light or dark) and each other in the way that Angels and Demons are. Free. And that this makes humans not only more powerful, but represents a better way to exist.

This doesnt mean Tyrael 100% is human , but he can still follow a human path (of choice) and aspire to embody what it represents to be human, which is the ability to be free to choose between good and evil and not bound by your birthright or your fate.

I wouldn't get too caught up on whether Tyrael 'is a real human - omg'. I think it's more of a metaphor for Tyrael willingly embracing what it represents to be human (in the context of the Diablo story). People will have differing opinions on how to answer that, but as said above, my take is humans are free in a way that angels/demons never were, are or could be. And this freedom empowers them with the ability for choice, which in turn represents a better way to exist. Once Tyrael recognises that, no wonder he is humbled so much he aspires to be one.

Humans are (degraded) offspring of Angels and Demons

Humans are closer to the original version of Anu than either Angels or Demons, in the sense that they encompass light and dark, good and evil, and the ability to be both and/or choose without being bound to one or the other. Think of it as a 're-evolution' if you will. :) One of the reasons the heavens and the hells both fear what humans could become.

With this in mind, I can only imagine Tyrael being a true human if he now had the capacity for evil. (This doesnt mean he has to be evil or become corrupted - but he has to have the capacity for it). Because one cant simply 'be human' in the Diablo story sense, unless you embodied the ability to be good or evil. Isnt that what the Nephalum were all about? The sum of Angels and demons, embodying both, with the power to be greater. Being human means you have the ability to be and encompass both, and arent bound to being a being 'of light' or 'of darkness' for all eternity.

posted a message on Expansion for D3 Idea storyline
    Quote from Lioncash

Honestly.. I actually don't want them to continue it, I want this to be the end. Literally just no more, I get sick of franchises just going and going because of the fan's love of the game when really they are just dragging out more and more story, WoW is a perfect example of this among other game's in the modern day such as the CoD franchise.. It just need's to stop.

This need's to be closure for me and the end of an era.

I'd be happier to see a completely new Blizzard franchise which is what they're working on now, I'd imagine they'll start thinking of an expansion for D3 in about 2 year's time.

While I can understand your sentiment, if there's one thing more powerful than Diablo and the Prime evils... it's money. Blizzards needs to keep delivering it for their parent company and shareholders - and if there's money to be made in future expansions it's hard to imagine they will simply just say no. They could only really do that if there was some other compelling source of potential revenue to tap into.

Concept work on the first Diablo expansion is surely already underway. They aren't waiting 2 years.

I have to say i'm also confused and looking forward to an answer to this question: What is the Diablo franchise without Diablo? Can the franchise still exist if the story moves on, and away, from the character on which its named after?

posted a message on [Spoiler] Chris Metzen hints at future Expansion(s) direction
Obviously this is all spoilers. Here's a direct quote from Chris Metzen from the CE DVD, referring to Leah:

It's tragic what happens to her. But I think the truth of Leah is she's innately heroic. She's a good person. But this evil was rooted at a genetic level. And the turn that her life takes was inevitable to some great degree.

When ultimately her turn comes, it feels terrible. We want you to feel like you've been socked in the gut, like you know, "anyone but her". (sic)

Her spirits still out there somewhere. There's a good girl there that deserves to be saved and... brought back from the Abyss.

While we don't have any clue yet what subsequent chapters will be, ah couple clues (sic) [Metzen winks and smiles at the camera], I'd bet that we would chase that down. Because it feels right from a story level, and it feels right from a character level.

What do you make of this? For those people who thought it was cruel for Blizzard to introduce Leah, allow you to grow fond of her, then off her so fast in tragic fashion - how would you feel about a potential expansion story arc themed along the lines of finding her soul?

What potential stories do you think could lie ahead for Leah, should she be featured in future story direction as Metzen hints at?

And keep in mind: As fun as it sounds to simply say "yeah - lets find Leah" - we know that any future expansion must have a compelling conflict to frame a story against. So would does the conflict come from?
