A lot of people (myself included) are checking out the new WoW expac and waiting for season 2. I still play D3 a couple times a week but not daily like I was.
Why is everybody saying the pvp in d2 was soo great ...
I played d2 for almost 10 years, and the thing which annoyed me the most was the pvp.
it made no sense..
You either were oneshotted, or you moved around in circles all the time.. how was that fun and engaging...?
it was actually the same as brawling is now, except you went out of town and not in a different zone. and you had maybe 2 seconds to react instead of zero now.
still it was far from a good experience from my point of view
sorry i really dont find ancient legendaries being counterproductive for competitiveness a good argument.
The point is what you see as competetive. of course when you want to go for season rank 1 then you have to grind your gear up as fast as possbile. you basically need to be a nolifer
but for non season its different
the ladder will probably be never reset. Even if, you'll have far more time to get your items together than in non season.
My goal for example is not reaching rank 1, its not feasable with my amount of time at the moment., but i want to stay withhin the top 200.
as someone having a girlfriend and an 8 hour job this seems to me being quite an accomplishement.
The competetivenss comes from all other players times which i have to beat. No matter what time it takes. The longer it takes, the longer ill will play diablo 3( as in years) . and i wellcome new items wich will possibly kick me out of the top 200 in the beginning because i lack the time to get those early.
Ill wellcome those items because they keep me playing, wanting to be in the top 200 again.
Its also worth mentioning that gogok of switfness gives 15% additional ias.
So if you want to calculate your breakpoint with gogok you just add 15% ias to your current character sheet value (its easier to reach that 4,15 bp with 1h bows and gogok - for the lightning build where you shoot yourself and are able to stack the gogok pretty easy)
quickest way is place your hydra directly in front of the pack
-------Map Way direction ---->
you ----> pack --> hydra
Then place your blackhole on top of that pack.
run past the pack and hydra, ~50 yards. place hydra at your position.
Usually at this point you should already have placed 3000% weapon damage on the mobs which got caught in the blackwhole
Cast blizzard between your position and the pack.
continue with the next mobs.
The problem is. the firebird tick does not have infinite range.
If you run away from the pack for like 2 full screen width, it will fall of.
In general you could say, as long as the mobs are following you, the dot is up.
If you ran too far, you have to go back and reaply the dot which will kill your progression time.
Also gearing wise you are still on a very early stage. no soj / no unity.
No Strongarms... which are reallly important, that amulet sucks :(, bad weapon.
Really at your current stage you should take longer than 2-3 seconds to put the firebird dot up.
So its much more difficult for you than a fully equiped Firebird wizard.
I would guess you need like 5 seconds to apply the infinite dot.
A good way to learn when your firebird dot is up is knowing how big the tick of the dot is, once its fully applied. (without any other damage spells)
go to ghom, cast some stuff on him, and observe the dot size. when all your spells have run out, and it still fallls of . it was not applied fully. so you might even need to cast another spell on the mobs. However this should not happen if you use hydra right.
If it does not fall off. remeber the tick number. Start a rift, observe the damage numbers while playing. once they are significantly higher than what you observed @ghom (while your spells are active) you should be fine to continue pulling / kiting more mobs

the 3% from %Damage will not give you as much.
but only if you scale with attack speed ( i dont know if its usefull for you)
if your spec doesnt scale with attack speed than its pretty much worthless and i would reroll it to vit (considering Grifts 40+)
