The normal dmg range on your attacks will be so big, noticing a 10% increase in the attack's dmg will be pretty much impossible just by looking at the numbers on the screen.
There is a difference, its quite noticeable ( animation wise ) and I've asked a few people on a blind test all with 100% accurate results.
Count your number of hits while you have a stopwatch set on 20 seconds or something like that. You should find number of hits to be same regardless of how you put your weapons. At least I did when comparing 1.20 and 1.50 weapons.
You should be putting the slower weapon in the mainhand because FoT calculates his damages only by the mainhand dps/damage. It won't make a difference in the character screen but it will make a difference in REAL damage. This is explained by newti quite good. He has done shitloads of theorycrafting.
Do you have got a more precise source on that? Dunno who newti is. Sounds really weird that FoT would be based on mainhand dmg only.
Thanks for the link, it answered a few other questions I had in mind. Though I havent gotten (or missed) the answer why equipping the slower weapon on the main hand and faster weapon on the off hand to give an over all faster attack speed animation.
On my monk, If I put my spear on the mainhand and fist weapon on the offhand, the attack speed animation is significantly faster.
To my knowledge, it makes no difference whatsoever if you have a slow or fast weapon in mainhand. I just tried it with a 1.20 and 1.50 weapon. Regardless of which weapon I had in mainhand, I performed 16 FoT sequences in 20 seconds.
I've played around a bit with LPSS, and I just don't find it effective, not with the low values found on gear. Spirit generation isn't high enough even while dual wielding and using FoT. Maybe it was different before the haste nerf in 1.03.
A basic amount of LoH can easily give you back 2-3k health per second (with FoT - Thunderclap). LPSS simply can't match that.
You usually don't take 25k hits though (though there certainly are a few abilities that hit that hard). Shield is obviously most effective when taking many smaller hits.
One thing so far: people talking about 1k+ LOH, but noone seems to talk about higher life steal values. Please do remember you can get dual wield barb with 2x3% leech weapons + 3% talent + 3% belt which totals up to 12% life leech. Even with 80% nerf, given 50+k DPS that will outheal any LoH you can get.
No it won't. 1k LoH isn't high, which is why it's not compared to the absolute max life steal values.
Another point to remember is that life leech works with every bit of damage you do, be it AoE, etc. Think about hitting 10 mobs with a 120k crit with a shockwave while having 12% life leech... there's no LoH in the game that can come even close to that.
LoH works on AoE as well. And as I've said before, it's completely useless talking about how much you crit for.
There's a lot of misinformation and bad math in this thread. I don't think I've seen a single post take into account that LoH is based on attack speed and life steal is based on "real dps" (not how much a white attack hits or crits for, that's irrelevant).
It depends on what you're trying to calculate. Also, it's hard to figure out your DPS since that depends on which skills you use and on how many mobs you are fighting for how long.
True, it's very tricky dealing with the real dps, but that's simply what you have to do when talking about life steal. That's all that matters, not attack speed, not what your white hits do or how often you crit. What I do on my monk is to watch the health bar closely when fighting single elites (usually after having killed off the minions) and simply estimate how much dps I'm doing. Of course that's just against single target, in aoe situations it's pretty much impossible to tell.

I think you might just be imagining things.

Personally I much prefer DW on my monk though.

Agreed. The youtube guides might contain good information, but it's simply not the best medium for advanced guides.

Dunno where you got that idea. I don't have the table right in front of me, but it's more like 115% extra for every player in inferno.
