    Quote from VegasRage»

For those who may still lurk here...

I'm finally ready to show a before and after photo. In my 20's I was in athletic shape but after moving to Vegas I became almost immediately sedentary. By 2011 I was just 250 lbs of fat! I started having problems breathing and was up to a 42" waste-line pressing up against the next size up. A friend of mine had a heart attack and it got me thinking; I'm adopted and I don't know anything about my biological family's medical history. About two years ago I started going back to the gym but got serious about it a year and half ago with the inspiration of a friend who taught me to quit thinking like an old person. The first thing I noticed was my metabolism was pretty much gone even though I was working out 4 to 5 days a week thanks to being over 45. I had to change my diet along with exercise; the last year has been no easy picnic but ultimately worth it.

The photo on the left I haven't shown ANYONE until now because I was mortified by the image. After seeing a few more like that over the year, enough was enough, this morning I hit the scale at 202 lbs! While the overall drop in weight is around 50 lbs, I’ve lost somewhere between 65 to 70 lbs of fat while adding 15 to 20 of muscle. Beyond obvious health reasons, once you pass 45 you start to realize there is likely fewer years ahead than behind, so it really becomes (at least in my mind) a matter of life or death. I see too many people in their 60’s already hunched over looking like they one step away from a walker, I just can’t do that. I’d rather go out like Jack LaLanne did at 96 with all his faculties.

    Jebus Cripes dude!!!

Pic 1 = I would totally beat you up

Pic 2 = I would cry and beg you not to punch me

Good job on the fitness. At 43 now, I look back just 4 years and realize how out of shape I am. I haven't gained too much weight (still about 6'1 190lbs, up from 178 a few years ago), but as far as cardio and strength, I've slipped quite a bit.

The way your OP is written, I couldn't tell if you were upset over something you saw in a stream or what.

I guess it was you was left hanging? Sorry to hear that these guys did this, but that's the nature of some of the top players. They cheat, the use 3rd party overlays, some of them bot. When we could trade, they took free items from people and never talked to them again. They're bottom-feeders sitting at the top of the ladder.

Best of luck in getting someone to help you push toward the end of the season.

Why are you so into the drama over these streamers? I'm not at all sure what exactly the point of making this thread was.

My advice would be to stop paying attention to them and enjoy the game.

posted a message on <dfans> recruiting

After speaking with other officers and giving it some thought, I felt it best to regretfully purge some of the more inactive members. Several of them (after reviewing each profile on a case by case basis) just don't play much at all.

While we welcome "casual" players, the purpose of a clan, as well as the purpose of keeping a full roster, is to try and reach a point where there will be plenty of clan members on at any given time. With that I ask very casual players to not apply. By "very casual", I mean if you're only putting in a few hours a month, and you often don't play at all for many weeks at a time.

If you want in, and you're sure to be playing a reasonable amount, able to participate in the clan as an active member, now is the time to send a join request in-game. I'll hop back in very shortly and see who applied, and I'll add on a first-come first-serve basis.

We have several invites sent out already, so if you applied in-game in the last few days, log in and join if an invite was sent to you.

We'll try to keep kicks at a bare minimum until after Season 4 starts, but we want to balance this with entering the new season with a full, active roster.

This is in reference to the (NA) <dfans> clan.

    Dear God,

Please forgive them, for they know not what they speak. And please, oh lord, allow this thread and threads like it to wither away and die as they should.

    Amen.

Service is over, BG has provided us with the ammo we need to tear his entire thread to the ground, please leave in an orderly fashion or go down with the ship.

I thought it was a very interesting discussion, regardless of who and what I agree with. We should always welcome discussions this well thought out and extensive. What you're doing is not in any way helpful to foster understanding of the games intricacies. You just pulled out a shotgun and opened fire.

Going to have to see if I cant find a casual to serious HC clan now :)

Fellow old guy here (43). I'm playing season 4 HC, if you'd like to join me, just add me (btag in my siggy). Most HC clans are pretty "serious", from my experience.

It's a pain in the butt to get into the <dfans> clan due to it always being kept full. It is NOT a HC clan, but rather has players of all stripes, all modes. You could apply in-game by sending a join request, as well you can throw your name into the hat in this thread.

Myself and the other officers do our best to accommodate requests, but we're always full and typically new members are done on a first come first serve basis.

All that being said, I run with HC players both in and out of the clan, so if you add me, you may have some company. Some of the fellas I run with aren't planning on doing Season 4, so if you're not planning on it, you may be able to meet fellow NS HC players through playing with us as we wait for patch 2.3

I didnt find any difference for RG on Normal today. If it was a bug, it is fixed now.

I still dont know how so many people reach this high level on GR in 2.2... Is it the paragon level that makes the difference so much?

More-so the 4-man dynamic of perma CC.

A suggested here, I give them a few minutes to collect thoughts then I start a new GRIFT or new RIFT. It seems to motivate people a bit. I now question if people are just unsure as to if they should start the next rift.

Some folks are followers, some are leaders. In a 4 man game, someone needs to be a leader. I know what you're meaning, that sometimes all 4 players will be standing by the obelisk waiting for someone to click it.....awkward. Reminds me of when 4 people stop at a stop sign simultaneously, and they all just sit there waiting for someone to make the call.

This issue also shows itself during runs. Where sometimes we have too many chiefs and not enough injuns. Where you have more than 1 "leader" type You know the deal, where at least one player refuses to follow the lead of another, always turning right when the group goes left.

Public games are a pure form of crap-shoot.

Well it's not like the riftguardians are the biggest problem of completing a rift, but ofcourse it helps a bit.

    And thats the thing.

The biggest problem is to reach the guardian with enough time left. The guardian itself is gear and setup nothing else.

Yes, the hp on higher grifts is massvie, but if you have the right setup its not a problem to controll and nuke the guardian down.

The "crapy" grift before the guardian is the thing that counts at the moment.

Good luck for your "endgame" pushes until next week.

A fair point. My experience is that I often reach the RG with loads of time left, and I spend the rest chopping down that enormous health bar. There are those "crappy" Grifts, ones that betray you through bad geography (dead ends, though this has been cleaned up quite a bit), terrible enemy types (ranged, fast moving "runners" against your melee based char), and poor pylon placements, or near none at all.

I play HC, so my idea of a high Grift is different than others. This might explain some of the differences I have here.

posted a message on blizcon xpan what new class you like to seee

I don't know what they'll call it, but a vitality class would be something quite interesting. The idea could tie in quite well with the 'idea' of a Druid. A class with low natural armor, low natural resistances, but unusually high life. Deriving it's damage from vitality points the same way we see with the current main stat paradigm, a lycanthrope who's damage type is determined by his current animal channeling.

Something squishy but with a deep life pool, able to utilize old Inferno style life steal tactics.

Trap skills could be very interesting in D3 with a class like this, and would work well with the idea of a naturist like the Druid. One of the Druids (d2) iconic skills was the use of tornadoes, something we have too much of already.

Keep the shape-shifting (lycanthropy), lose the tornadoes (wind), and meld trapping into a Vita based main stat character.

I would say they most certainly are. Currently, we have to whack away at their incredibly large health bars for 3-5+ minutes (depending on the grift tier). Usually when I fail to complete a Grift on time, it's because I just couldn't DPS a RG fast enough.

I've never heard of this glitch. Certainly something they'll address if it's been brought to their attention.

posted a message on <dfans> recruiting

Just a reminder; To help us out, make sure to send a join request to the clan <dfans> in-game, that way I know who is who when comparing the wait list to the people in this thread. I currently have 12 people in line and 2 spots open with 2 pending invites. If they don't join up by tomorrow, I'll send invites to everyone that posted in this thread AND sent a join request in-game.

After that, it'll be first come first serve.

Bear in mind, after the season starts (maybe a week in) I'm going to start removing inactives of 3-4 weeks or more. Lots more spots should open up at that point, so please be patient and understand we always have a wait list.

Hey all - just an FYI - there is a dfans community on the NA servers. I'll jump in there and keep an eye on it if anyone is interested in joining up. Since the clan max is at 150 - maybe this can be a good alternative if you would like to be able to find fellow dfans players easily - or if you are tied to another clan.

Let me know what yall think.

    ysoserious#1178

That's a great idea to post that here. We do, in fact, have an in-game community. A lot of folks in the clan have been using this through PTR so they can stay in touch with clan-mates that aren't on PTR at the time.

Safe to say, avoid anything with the words "3rd party" in it and you'll be OK. *some exceptions apply, use at your own risk
