    Quote from RockmanDoom
The D2 philosophy was perfect, by endgame you had pretty much free resource, you are supposed to feel like a god at the end...

Oh yeah infinite mana (every class used mana) based on a stat you should never put points into which you used to spam like 1-3 abilities, that's perfection alright.

Resource management makes a game more interactive and take more skill. D3's system isn't perfect but it's lightyears ahead of D2.

I'm just curious, how can anyone say that "most people aren't playing anymore" when most people play solo in the first place?

They're using what you might call "anal statistics".

Okay, so the dude starts off by talking about Hydra. Then he keeps talking about Hydra. Then I realize I have read half of the post... and it was still all about Hydra. I never even used Hydra.

    Rolleyes.

The "preview" only looks at a couple of skills, it isn't supposed to cover everything. And the whole idea is to revamp lesser used skills to make them more useful so obviously there is a lot of talk about things you don't use.

    Context!

posted a message on 1.0.4 Changes to Demon Hunter
It's still too early to tell, some of the changes look good but we'll have to wait for it to go live to really know. I don't think they're trying to replace HA as the best theoretical single target, they just want to make it so you aren't gimped if you choose something else. I think everyone underestimates the usefulness of RoV even in its present state - the damage may not be huge but it's worth a slot for the Stampede knockback if nothing else. Boosting the damage is a big plus for me :P

A couple of things I would've liked though; I feel like my Hatred spenders aren't enough more powerful than my Hatred generators. I would've liked generators toned down and spenders beefed up a bit more, it feels more satisfying and your resource management feels more important that way. Also, I think the major problem with SS is not the core skill but the fact it's a DH's only root breaker! I'm really hoping they do something about that, at least let Vault break roots, maybe Shadow Power too? So you don't feel completely screwed if you choose something other than SS. Even my Vault build has to have SS on its bars just to avoid getting into an impossible situation with certain jailer packs.

I don't mean to be a jerk but you should really plan out what you're going to say in a vid before you start recording so you can get to the point a lot quicker.

It is a really cool cake, you should stop making videos and eat the damn thing!

Er... because... it's fun? God forbid!

Cause we all know normal Act 3 farming players are going to use these and not every single DH thats running Arret Crater on NM difficulty in full GF and a pickup raidius so large they get gold from other people's games.

ROFL. You just made it sound even more fun man!

Anyway, not everything has to be for A3 farmers. Maybe I want to go out and legitimately grind some gold in NM! Is that so wrong?

    2) You think you're the first or only person who has thought of those ideas, the same exact ones that the enemies had? I'm pretty sure everyone, including me, thought those abilities would be cool to use by ourselves when we first encountered them.

TL;DR: Get over yourself. Ingenious? Soothsaying? Really?

Why do people accuse the Devs of trolling every time they make a joke? I feel like there's a self-righteous, entitled group of people on the forums determined to strip life of any shred of humour or fun so everyone's existence is as bleak and hollow as theirs.

Upgrade a unique with a cube recipe? How is that exactly?

    Quote from Epking
Well they'll be good on one of your dozen different specced alts... oh wait..

Every Normal/Nightmare unique was pretty damn useless in D2 as well... and the Hell ones were damn hard to find :P

    Quote from Epking
Well I'm sure they sell well... oh wait...

Everything except extremely rare runewords and a tiny handful of uniques was worthless in D2 kid :)

    Quote from Epking
Well you can shard them for something useful... oh nvm...

Definitely couldn't do that in D2.

    Quote from Epking
    Vendor gold is still gold?

Gold was worth literally nothing in D2 so I'd say that vendoring is vastly more useful in D3!

The one thing I will say is a legitimate complaint is that PVP has taken longer to come out than most people expected. I hope that's because they're putting a lot of effort into it, so it's not going to be as... rudimentary as D2's PVP was. I'm sure it'll take a lot of balancing once it's released regardless, but at least they're designing proper arenas or what have you.

Still, Diablo has always been primarily a PVE game so I don't really mind immensely.

    Quote from Greavers
Dude stop trolling this post, this guy is serious and he has a good point. It's quite obvious, d3 wont be nearly as good as d2 ever was.

I'll try to answer this question for you...

People played D1 because 1) The environment was really well done, much better than D2 and especially D3. 2) It was truly challenging unlike D3 which is just a gear check.

LOL... wow... um, what exactly was hard about D1? Or D2? Not sure which you mean but either is ridiculous. You didn't have to farm in D2 EVER you could beat the whole game wearing ANYTHING, with ANY skill combination. You spammed like 3 buttons max.

I did like the atmosphere in Tristram and the early parts of D1 better than D2, I will say. Up to about the Butcher. That's the most memorable Diablo experience for me. But in terms of gameplay... just lightyears behind.

    Quote from sacridoc
People played D2 because 1) The items and skills were interesting. You could make all different kinds of unique builds with your character. 2) There was a level cap that wasn't easy to reach, so people had a desire to hit 99. 3) D2 had ladders that created some level of consistent competition.

    1) I think the main difference is D3 is much harder than D2 so you can't get away with sub-optimal builds anymore. Sure you could beat D2 with anything but the different builds certainly weren't balanced. I'm hoping more builds will be viable in the next patch, but at least from a DH's perspective there are numerous interesting builds in D3 of varying viability levels.

    2) Man you're not going to convince me that that boring pointless grind to 99 was in any way good gameplay. It required NO SKILL WHATSOEVER it was just a long, long tedious grind for no reason. Well for some reason - it was to give you something to do because there was nothing left to do in that game lol.

    3) Eh, I never gave a toss about ladders, maybe they'll make those again. Level and gear up all over again all the time? Sounded boring as hell to me.

    Quote from sacridoc
D3 is nothing more than an item farm. All the other things that made D1 and D2 fun are gone. The items and skills are incredibly monotonous, there's no endgame progression and the environment / story is way too cartoonish and bland. Believe it or not, the other parts of the franchise are what made finding items so much fun. But with D3 all you're left with is killing monsters and either getting good loot or bad loot.

That being said... it's not like D1 and D2 would be wildly successful if released today. The style that was unique back then, is more common today. But still, those 2 games are better than D3, without a doubt.

Diablo was never just about grinding items, that's where the developers failed with this game.

I dunno what planet you're on but grinding items is 100% of the gameplay in every Diablo game. Where else did you get your gear? From raids? Heroic dungeons? Conquest Point vendor?

Apparently you consider grinding from 80ish to 99 through constant Baal runs super interesting gameplay though so maybe that's what you're thinking of. Dunno what to say about that.

Yeah, I'm putting all this down to wildly inaccurate nostalgia.

I don't see spike traps in the build you linked.

I never really liked Rapid Fire myself, I see how it could work in this build though. Grenades doesn't seem necessary to me, I'd rather swap it out for something else, rain of vengeance/stampede for example. Which is incredible for mass crowd control and would work pretty well once they get off the spike traps/caltops and start coming towards you. It's the only way I've found to effectively deal with fast mobs (as long as they're blue and not yellow, nothing you can do about those except kill its minions and hope you can tank it).

Maybe its because I'm older. I played the crap out of Diablo 1, Diablo 2 but looking back I just don't know how I did it.

I often wonder about this. A lot of players complaining about D3 don't like the fact that once they kill Inferno Diablo all there is to do is indefinitely grind more items they don't need or roll an alt and grind through to Inferno again. But that's all there ever was to do in any Diablo game. In D2 it was the same only there was no Inferno and Hell was a pushover... man imagine the QQ if D3 had been as easy as D2... no farming required ever...

D3 is exactly how I remember D2, I suspect that if those people who find they can't play D3 but played heaps of D2 actually went back and tried to play D2 again they'd find it's them that's changed.

P.S. Don't create polls with BS options just to be a jackass. Also, you don't deserve a refund for not liking something.
