posted a message on Inferno Whimsy
It depends on how fast you can clear it; many times the harder elite packs aren't even worth the trouble and you're better off kiting them to a dead end and leaving them there. The main benefit of doing whimsyshire is the clouds; by not looting any clouds, it allows you to throw on massive amounts of magic find and then open the clouds, which results in(imo) better than loot than act 3 bridge farming, since most people can't use heavy amounts of mf to farm that.

Another side benefit of Whimsyshire is that you can help friends. After clearing it, you can drag friends in and all get loot, or sell spots to people(you see the occasional post over in trade forums aboutt his)

Edit: Something else that may be helpful if you do it solo. Remember to equip your follower in MF gear, some of it translates to you as well, I believe.

posted a message on How much is this ring worth?
I would value it between 500k-1m. While a solid tank ring, there exists rings with higher resist all. Some of the legendary rings can be rolled with much higher stats, and those go for significantly higher.

posted a message on original FLAT INFERNO DIFFICULTY was much better
The problem with this design is not that it is a progressive model, but that the AH exists. If I care about increasing the power of my character(which most people do), I want the best gear. The best gear drops from Inferno Act IV. However, if you can't handle inferno act IV, you're NOT better served by farming the hardest inferno act you can; you're best served by hopping into a hell act and farming gold.

Thats the problem; for an individual player, your best avenue of character growth is to not engage the most difficult content you can, but to engage the content that provides the best gold per hour. Theres nothing like spending 30 minutes killing diablo on inferno difficulty to have him drop 3 crap blues; you might as well have spent that 30 minutes farming gold so you could have gotten much better items from the AH.

Also, though, most people will likely get the best gold per hour from whimsyshire with the quality of drops there, not a hell act, but thats my point. I'm working my way through inferno act 3, but my time is not best served by going through inferno act 2, its best served by killing ponies, and it will always be the best to do that because of how valuable gold is. This is what the OP is driving at; we have no incentive to engage the hardest difficulty on a farming basis(which is what diablo has always been about) because GPH is the single most important factor to growing your character.

posted a message on Diablo III - Race to the Finish: Gear Challange
I've managed to get this done.

As you can see in the video, I have the full Blackthorne Set, along with a level 60 Legendary, Sever.

My battletag is Sadinar#1906 to verify. If I don't have the gear showing up in my profile, its likely because I switched some of it out to farm more(+magic find is huge, helped me find several pieces of this set).

posted a message on WD vs Mortar Champion/Elite Inferno
I've found for melee mortar mobs, especially slower ones, mortars tend to have somewhat of a dead zone in melee or close to it, so i can stand just a little bit away from the mob and nuke with the 80% slow from grasp/wall of zombies up. However this dead zone doesn't always work, so beware.

Against ranged/fast mortar mobs, run and kite, run and kite. Mortar's range is shorter than max range direbats, so if you can get out of range you can get several bats off if you slow, unless its a super fast mob.
