1. Paying real money for items is going to happen, whether Blizzard officially sanctions it, or not. Through the RMAH, players can at least be guaranteed a safe, expedited experience.
2. 'Pay 2 Win' means nothing in the context of D3. Who are you paying to win over? Diablo? Is Diablo going to be mad that you're buying items to kick his ass harder? Is it Tyrael? Is Tyrael offended that you have besmirched your honor by spending real money for items?
3. PvP will feature automated matchmaking. You will only ever be matched against people of approximately your same gear level, with an internal ELO rating matching you against players of comparable skill. If you buy power, you'll simply be matched against more powerful people. Completely negating any claims of 'pay 2 win'.
For some games, involving real money is an actual detriment, which has the potential to harm gameplay and fun. Diablo 3 is not one of those games.
Everything you've said is pretty much true, but if the game detects gear, and if skill does matter, then wouldn't it suck to get some bad kid who spend $400 on your team when you are doing the random matched pvp ?

I tend to avoid typing, I'd rather just speak whats on my mind, 1 video of 50+ is a discussion video, man I'm such a douchebag(sarcasm).
On the other hand, you can ding to level 60, spend $100 and get a badass character, but you'll get DESTROYED in PvP because PvP is going to have a matchmaking system similar to Starcraft 2. This means the people who are legitimately badass and good at playing their character will have a massive advantage from those who just bought it and jumped right in.
The absurdity of equating a3/a4 farming with pvp experience has already been dealt with, so I'll address this one.
People who are "badass" are going to push their ranking up pretty quickly and be fighting other badass players. People who spent all their money and don't know what they are doing are going to drop their ranking and be paired up with weak players. Only this time the rankings are hidden so you don't truly know where you stand. Either group is going to end up winning/losing about half their matches either way and not really know any better. This is why D3 PvP cannot be truly "competitive" because you can't truly win (hence you can't pay-to-win either.) You can't prove that you're the top anything, aside from how much time you've spent pvping.
Once again, If the game was less than 75% gear, the other 25% being skill, Id be suprised the gear % is that low.
The only time being able to buy power for money is a problem is when that power isn't obtainable w/o any use of real life money. In D3 you can get everything in the game from playing the game. Even if there's an item on the Real money auction house you can sell items or gold to get currency for it. Believe it or not money doesn't magically appear out of nowhere. If people want to spend money that they had to work for in real life to get something in game then let them. If you don't like the Real Money Auction House don't use it. No one is forcing you to. You will be able to kill inferno diablo without it if you have any skill. You will be able to be very competitive in PvP without it if you have skill.
It could be worse, but lets not try to fool ourselves into thinking that skill matters more than gear in diablo, or that its even close for that matter, check athene .

Plenty of games do such a thing, it's not taboo. Just because a lot of games DON'T do it doesn't mean it's a rule that all games must abide by.
If they didn't let you buy things with real currency, sure as hell gold sellers would have a much larger market, buy gold, use gold to buy items more round about way to use money for power.
I can't think of a single game that isnt korean that blatantly sells power for money.

Not trying to claim its a Impenetrable argument, just the first thing that came to my head when thinking about the RMAH coming out tomorrow, making it easier and safer to buy power with money than it would have been is a bad thing IMO.
Well, that and a lot of people are giving up the game because they think its hard to do inferno, when if you just focus on it for a little bit, and play the AH you can make progress pretty fast.
