posted a message on So Discouraging
Firstly, I just don't see what's wrong with using the AH. Personally, I've only used it to fill glaring holes in my gear-set, not to full tool up my character. Other people might use it to fully deck out their characters after a 10-hour gold-farming binge. So what? I played D2 a lot, but I never got anywhere near level 99 because I just couldn't be bother grinding out gear, and I felt no desire to buy other people's duped stuff. In D3, that problem has vanished. I played long enough to get the gold, what on earth is wrong with using that gold?

Secondly, I haven't started ActII inferno on any character. I haven't even bothered trying, because I actually like the loot-finding game, so I'm waiting for 1.03's drop-rate tweaks... and most of all, the changes to the guaranteed rare-drop mechanics. I think the NV mechanic is pure genius, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it plays out. In the meantime, I'm happily leveling other characters and... OMG... playing other games.

posted a message on When D3 comes out with an expansion, are you going to buy it?
Hell yes. Blizzard knows how to do expansions.

Given that Diablo3 was an unspeakably terrible bug-ridden unplayable broken train-wreck of failure*, I'm expecting the expansion to completely destroy the PC gaming industry!

    * Personally, I'm enjoying the hell out of D3, but I'm wrong, so I have to go on what I read on the forums.

The amount of Blizzard apologists in this thread is frightening. Diablo 3 has been a broken, bugged out disaster so far. With loads of problems, exploits and issues. It's a fucking fun game, but lets not cover our eyes and ears here please.

Sometimes I have to. It drowns out the hyperbole.

    Quote from Scrim

Here is my concern with the RMAH. Nobody is going to be putting good items up on the normal auction house anymore. Why make 10 million gold, when you can make $250. Then in turn, spend some of the real money you made on an item you want, and or never put it back into the economy.

You can buy gold on the RMAH, which creates a permeable membrance between the two auction houses. If you find an item worth 20M gold or $20, but gold sells for $1.50 per million, guess where the smart place to put it is?

    Quote from Scrim

Another problem, is items that are going to be selling for gold. Will be selling for 10 times their normal value. Why? because gold is so cheap to buy, you will have tons of people with astronomical amounts of gold. So the items that you can buy for in-game currency, will have a super inflated price.

The price of gold will be dictated buy the opportunity cost of arbitrage, not by gold farmers constantly trying to undercut each other.

What has me most concerned isn't this. My biggest problem is the entire ecosystem Blizzard is building. We all know Titan is their next MMO. It's been in development more then half a decade. Do you really think they designed and implemented all these systems for one game, in Diablo 3? No. It has me worried their next MMO, where buying power is a MAJOR problem, will also be buy to win. Which would be a fucking joke.

Yes. That hypothetical situation would indeed be a joke.

    Quote from Locobaserepair

5 million players, this guy tries to calculate rng by 9 of them.

    GG with that

Nerdfact: For large populations, accuracy mostly just depends on the sample size. A sample of 10,000 is pretty much the same accuracy for a population of 1 million or 1 billion. On the other hand, you still need a lot more than 9.

posted a message on Hotfixes - June 8th: Monster damage no longer increases with additional players and more
ZK runs were incredibly tedious, risk-free, but efficient. They're gone.
Urn-smashing runs were incredibly tedious, risk-free, but efficient. They're gone.
Multiplayer runs were incredibly hard, high-risk, and inefficient. They're gone.

... because Blizzard hates choice, and has no idea how to design games.

Conclusion: Good games reward tedious, low-risk gameplay... apparently.

Don't look too close at the Succubi :P

I wish I could... no zoom/rotate in 2012 is a bit of a headscratcher, TBH.

In this particular case, I don't really see the harm. D3 has some horror-lite and that's about it. No nudity or language red flags (that I remember, been skipping cutscenes for weeks now :) ), and even the violence in pretty lightweight. It's mostly just bits falling off and the occasional blood-splat. Plants vs. Zombies with more ketchup and a better rendering engine.

posted a message on Question about Gear, and how it drops?
For a top-notch rare weapon, you need 4 things to roll in your favour. The item level itself, the base damage, a damage-increasing affix (e.g. 50-120 poison damage), and (ideally) a decent amount of your class' primary state. The chances of all four appearing on a weapon you actually care about is, obviously, rather low.
