I know you probably don't want to hear this but I'd suggest you save up to at least 60m and buy a LS high end Skorn with high CD. LoH benefits 2 1hers mainly especially with your low APS, but the power of LS cannot be underestimated when you are over 100k dps, which you are.

You can find a 180 CD+ LS skorn for around 60m I believe, and that will put you in excellent shape for whatever you'd like to do.

There is no reason you need to change. That 2her is amazing and you certainly CAN do mp10 with it. In fact, with the new bell changes you may be better off with a 2h weapon of this caliber than 2 1hers.

posted a message on My take on the Hnad of Ytar build (with plan run)
I can appreciate the effort that goes into unique builds so I do not mean to be negative about this video, but it makes me want to make my own video as a response (though I likely won't because... well... that's work) because my version of a Lashing Tail Kick (I run scorpion sting) build has been working out very well and I have to say, this video was rather painfully slow (run speed-wise) to watch in comparison to my personal experiences with the new lashing tail kick.

I have a feeling that those who view this video will dismiss LTK as a gimmick but I can assure people that with some better gearing and spec management, it can become extremely powerful. I run overawe and fists of thunder with cyclone, but as you typically are using a 2her for LTK with the -LTK cost, tempest rush is a necessity for mobility and scorpion sting is great for locking down elites. I typically use exalted soul, guardian's path, and OWE as my passives, and with fists of thunder as a spirit generator, you can quickly find elites and destroy them with LTK.

I'd suggest adding tempest rush to your build at the very least for quicker runs, and dropping some of your spirit generating passives and skills as you tended to sit with full spirit most of the time in the video anyway.

Regardless of the criticisms I had, I enjoyed the video and hope you continue them.

posted a message on New build for 1.0.7?
Well, I've tried out my new build, and I have to say, it's quite fun.

I am able to stun elites/bosses about 75% of the time with lashing tail kick - scorpion sting (I sadly found hand of ytar lackluster in solo play, but it could be fun for groups) and I measured my new DPS on azmodan mp10 last night and measured about 850k dps average over several attempts. Not the best, but respectable.

It's quite fun to be playing around with a new build, though I found that even with the buffs, FoT and cyclone are still probably in the lead because of the insane proc rate for Cyclone and LoH. If they improved the proc rates of other skills, we would have more competition between what we can use.

The LTK spam can truly become a devastating force when my flying dragon procs though... which happens more often than one would think.

Sadly, I have to switch to some different gear for mp10 play though, pulling the dps down to 700k, but buffing resistances and hp to 1000 AR and 40k HP with 6 LS and 500 LoH. This set up makes me near un-killable though, even on mp10, so its hard to complain too much.

posted a message on New build for 1.0.7?
I plan on experimenting with a unique Lashing Tail Kick - Hand of Ytar or Scorpion's sting build.

I've gathered quite a few items in preparation for this change to the skill:
Flying Dragon with 6 LS 191 CD and -5 LTK
Mara's with 200 Dex, 40 CD, double resists and -5LTK
SoJ with 26% bonus to E, -5 LTK
and I may or may not use my crit Skull Grasp with -4 LTK, but I suspect I'll be hard pressed to abandon my Nat's ring.

I'd like to combine TR for mobility with LTK and some spirit regeneration passives and see just how well it works.

The weapon changes put me at around 90k dps (which is lower than I would have liked, but hopefully the speedy LTK spam will make up for it) and 950 res all for some good defensive and offensive combos. I'm looking forward to testing it tonight.

What could i say... if such a simple game is too complicated for you... Plus you don't even see reasons for their choice of economy... And huge difference between gems in PoE and runes in D3... I feel sorry for you.

It *definitely* cannot be called a simple game. It is possibly the most complex game I've played in years (not a bad thing in my opinion)

Not really necessary to attack and condescend to the man for his opinions. The guy leans more towards the simple D3 mechanics while those of us who enjoy complex theory-crafting and builds are enjoying PoE. To each their own.

I have a feeling there are a lot of people out there who don't want to have to search a Wiki page to figure out basic mechanics. The game for them is D3.

But the game for me right now is PoE until D3 steps up its' endgame.

I use tempest rush mp0-10 and will continue to do so. In my opinion, even when DWing tempest rush is amazing for positioning and avoiding damage.

I never remove it. Even with my 3 attacks per second set up I use tempest rush to go between monsters.

Do you run mp 10 sucesfully with your gear? o.0

The gear you are looking at on my profile is 1/2 my snapshot set, so yes, mp10 is easy.

1.07 will change things of course, I do have a 180k dps set with 1200 LoH, 6% LS, and 650 AR so we shall see when we get there if I can handle mp10 then.

Actually, I think your problems stem from a lack of resistances. You should look into more all res + chosen res combos. By improving your res, your LS and LoH improve.

While the loss of snapshotting may be a net negative result, it will really free up build options. You won't be forced to run with blinding flash or the heal anymore (though still a quite good skills)

posted a message on Now is the time for theorycrafting fun!
Hey guys. We now have some very interesting new information on PTR skill upgrades. Let's assume that 1.07 kills the snapshot monk and discuss some new possibilities for monk builds.

Personally, I'm most interested in the upgrades to lashing tail kick and bells. I've been buying high quality negative spirit cost in preparation for this change. In total, I have -19 to spirit cost for lashing tail kick. I think that with the new buff to it's damage. I may be able to turn this into an interesting build based off of low cost lashing tail kicks.

Either that or I'll experiment with the new Bells damage.

Anyone else have some interesting new ideas after looking at the PTR skill changes?

I dont understand how people can say it would be a nerf to all monks to remove the snapshot effect... it wouldn't affect anyone else than those who (ab-)used that mechanic.
Now if blizzard made a broad nerf to the monk to compensate for having the snapshot effect. THAT would indeed be a nerf for everyone.

I think that at this point most monks use spells like blinding flash to buff their damage before using sweeping winds. This adds a big portion of one's damage. This requires no gear swapping, and it is hardly abuse to understand game mechanics and adapt to them.

While I agree that gearswapping is an issue and not a fun part of the game (I do it as well, the benefit is too great) Simply removing snapshot doesn't really fix anything. Sweeping winds snapshots your current weapon without gearswapping (I'd love to not have to look at my attack speed to see which weapon is active before casting), so in order to remove snapshots entirely, you have to average weapon damage between 2 weapons, which is not currently how almost any skill works. It's not quite as simple a fix as one might think.

I do think they will change something eventually to decentivize gearswapping though.

posted a message on Won Khim Lou or shenlong's
As has been stated before on this forum, +% to element damage is a flat damage increase of your physical damage. This means that if you are using a "black" weapon (meaning it has no elemental damage, only physical) the +% lightning damage increases your weapon by that percentage. +% lightning damage does not affect your lightning skills. The +% to lightning skills on the Won Khim Lau DOES affect your skills, so if you find one that has +25% it will drastically improve your sweeping winds : cyclone and Thunderclap.

Essentially, if you have a "black" weapon, you should look into +% element for the pure damage buff. It can significantly increase your damage. If you use a weapon with elemental damage, even if it is lightning element, your +% to lightning won't affect it, and only increase the base physical damage.

Not sure if I typed that out in a way that makes sense, but I hope that helps explain it a bit.

posted a message on mp10 uber ready stats and costs.
I use 5800 armor, 620 all res, 1200 LoH, 5.4% LS, 25% block chance, and the defensive passives mentioned above (resolve, StI, OWE) to solo mp10 ubers. Main damage comes from cyclones with a high damage gear snapshot. 1.4m dps with 5.4 LS and the above mentioned LoH means I never die even when taking damage from both bosses.

I recommend using a shield for mp10 ubers. you can get over 50% crit and high defensive with it.

I also recommend tempest rush for all builds so you can easily position yourself correctly. The best defensive ability in the game is good positioning to avoid extra damage. I don't use breath of heaven.
