posted a message on How to maximize your barbarian xp per hour

    https://youtu.be/wZiLFyBm4_U

Lately i have been getting lots of question on how to maximize your experience per hour while playing a barbarian.

Instead of responding on each of these "how, where and why" questions one by one, i have decided to just recorded some of my normal xp farming runs. Depending on your and your party members gear, you may want to go up or down a few greater rift levels.

The video should include all the needed information, such as:

-Group composition (1x heal/xp monk, 1x support/xp barb, 1x ep monk and 1x hota barb)
    -Gear/build/skills for each player
-What role each group member plays / when and what to skip

Basically what your seeing is the 65-70 "no boss" meta, which centers around spawning the rift guardian fastest possible, then leaving the game.

You get no gear/shards/gem-ups, but you lots and lots of experience.

While these 2 runs were pretty good, they can still be better with clear-times all the way down to 3minutes (silver spire).

    Some numbers:
Rift 1: 29.8b xp in 4min and 24 sec = 406b xp per hour inside the rift.
Rift 2: 37.9 b xp in in 5 mins = 454b xp per hour inside the rift.

Absolute xp per hour shown in video: 67.7b xp in 12mins and 7 sec = 335b xp per hour, which is consistent with the 300+ numbers we are seeing in our 2-6 hour sessions

And lastly some noteworthy things which can be easy to miss:

-Yes i'm using Monarch instead of Furnace.
-Fastest loading players search for pools in the start, slowest loading player open the rift.
-Try to resummon your ancients then you setup to kill the trash

If something remains unclear, feel free to ask.

The reason for me recording this video, is the same as for recording this video:

Diablo 3 RoS: Testrun of well fed Ancients @ https://youtu.be/8A_blk5cFU0

To document "funny features", which you can look back at with a smile on your face :)
And you can actually learn something new also.

And as a matter of fact, i found one thing interesting in my latest upload:

If you look at my "old" single target RG edps numbers, you will see that they didn't change at all, even with "all the potential unlocked" for the barbarian class. The only thing that changed was the ehp/toughness/sustain..

Thats maybe something which should be looked closer at by the developers, as barbs only have 4 real "hard damage boosting" passives in the current meta, while all the others are utility/ehp/useless.

How much do you think you gain from the "feature"? I am just trying to get an idea of how bad this exploit/feature is.

Pretty much all ehp... you hit a damage limitation on NS either way, So i think anything above GR ~72-73 is out of the question even with this. (pretty much all unused barb passives are ehp buffs)

magic find's problem was people switching gear before an elite or goblin kill wasnt it? blizzard didnt like the idea of switching gear in general (no more snap shotting).

If i remember correctly, that was a other matter which predated the shared magic find..

The fix for that one was that:

You needed to wear mf gear for 5 (?) minutes before it took effect.

The playerbase adjusted to this change, and the full support mf leech was born shortly after..

I guess this is a longshot, but does anyone remember back to patch 1.04 (?)

Back then we pretty much faced the same problem as we do today..

Support "leechers" were running with maximum magic find on all gear slots, while they let the "dps" kill all the monsters for them. And they could justify this with that they were only supporting/tanking for the players which did the damage, and could not kill anything with their setup anyway.

And today we are facing the same dilemma in greater rifts.. (also called speed low grifts or whatnot)

Typically its a support Crusader/Monk running a "support" spec with all +experience gain gear, while they let the "*dps" kill all the monsters for them. And they can justify this with its them that's supporting/opening for the players which does the damage, and can not kill anything with their setup anyway.

    * =Wizards/Demon Hunters/Barbarians/Roland Crus/Witch Doctor

The net-effect its exactly the same.. Only a portion of the group, were reaping the maximum benefit of playing in a team..

The solution back in 2012 were to make the magic find shared within the group, to make it equal for all the players.

The chance to get a magic item is averaged among all party members. So if there are 2 people in a party and one member has 100% magic find and the other has 0% you have an average of 50% to find a magic item.

    http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/comments/magic-find-and-gold-find-now-shared-through-the-party

And i would say that this is the best solutions for todays problem also..

I would really like to hear a blues response to this, or anyone else for that matter.

Do you think this is a viable fix for the current meta ?

The ess of Johan... Only that I could figure out. But since the proc rate is not that great I dont see those being best i slot. But who knows , det0x must have a good enough reason.

Think it has 20 secs internal cooldown. Not sure if its lowered in 2.2... But if its 20 secs that means 5 of those, pulled enemies are gonna take 25% more dmg form his strongarms... Thats 25% of time so its 1/4 of time it will be up so that makes strongarms give 25/4 % more dmg overall which is 6.25%..

The only other thing I could think of is if Madawc (one of the ancients) uses seismic slam with Shattered Ground rune to knock those back :D which i highly doubt.

Ahh and templars "guardian" ability which knockback enemies. So that all may make it around 10% more dmg ...

I used a pair of strongarms.. Just in-case i got a speed pylon and/or Ess of Johan + templar knockback + ancient charge

I understand most people would go for Lacunis, but i don't think that extra IAS is such a big deal.. I rather prefer to snapshot my APS myself.. Basically every time you rend, you snapshot. (6% IAS is only 2 extra monsters bleeding)

It don't matter that much, just make sure bracers you are using have good rolls.. :)

Its the other way around.. I think this is one of the tankiest high grift builds there is (50+).. With superstition + Swords to Ploughshares + together as one you can take goodly amounts of punishment.

There have been some questions about what i call the "superstition build" in some threads here and there, so i thought i could gather it all up in one single thread, and share it would you guys :)

Proof of Concept, Greater-rift level 60 worthy build. Where is Stoneslinger.. @ http://youtu.be/Rdw-diBEdIw

First information can be found at:

    Whirlwind Build Damage - A Detailed Analysis @ http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/17084928946

    WotW6 / IK4 (Physical w/ CoE)

This is a variant of the standard physical build, suggested by Det0x. This build requires more precise play and a rift guardian who spawns adds in order to function properly.

Gear: WotW Helm, WotW Shoulders, WotW Gloves, WotW Chest, WotW Boots, IK Pants, IK Belt, IK BB, Reaper Wraps, RoRG, Convention of Elements

Skills: WW (Blood Funnel), Rend (Blood Lust), CotA (Together as One), WotB (Insanity), Battle Rage (Swords to Ploughshares), Warcry (Impunity)

Passives: Superstition, Rampage, Ruthless, Nerves of Steel

    Gems: Trapped, Pain Enhancer, Taeguk

Final stats w/ all buffs, passives (except Rampage) and 3% IAS from PE active: 10782 Strength, 52% IAS, 61% CHC, 480% CHD, 40% Physical, 30% WW, 30% Rend, 150 Max Fury

    Total STDPS: 1,785,592,819.97

% of damage from Dust Devils: 70.29%
% of damage from Rend: 9.90%
% of damage from CotA: 9.58%
% of damage from Pain Enhancer: 5.59%
% of damage from Whirlwind: 4.63%

What iam running now, is a modified version of what i first suggested...

    • Bloodsheed instead of Swords to Ploughshares.
    • Weapons Master instead of Ruthless (-9.75% damage on average)
    • Reaper Wraps ain't needed, as superstition alone is enough sustain your fury vs poison RG's.

Mara's kaleidoscope is required for this build to function

Can clear rifts upto ~57-58 with RG's like Hamelin and Ghom

Above this level you fish solely for StoneSlinger -> Swap out superstition for tough as nails, *bash your head against the wall until you get SS down to 75% health points and he spawns a clone.. (Its only after this you can sustain fury and have max damage output)

(at this hight, a perfect Eye of Etlich amulet with one secondary affixed rerolled to 30%DR on melee would be BIS)

    * = Checkout this video if you wanna see how the build behaves when fury starved: http://youtu.be/LlTWj4GMBAE

    My profile: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Det0x-2856/hero/432203

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It will score lower on paper then the original version since no area/bloodsheed damage are included in the math. (Whirlwind Build Damage thread linked above)

But the "bloodsheeding" really speeds up the cleartime until you reach the RG.. A side-effect of this change is that your ancients die much more.. And you will feel much more squishy, since no more mass health globes.

So be ready to play cockeyed, with one eye always on the top left side of the screen :)

Kill-time improvement vs Ghom is small but noticeable.
Kill-time improvement vs Hamelin is decent.

(compared to the original non bloodsheed superstition build)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One video showing the old non bloodsheed superstition build in action vs a level 56 greater rift:

Diablo 3 RoS: Greater rift 56 completed with experimental high grift build @ https://youtu.be/xHJqGy0HoFY

Only fury sustain is with reaper wraps and superstition.
Showing gear and build at the end of the video.

    492458246144 health
    start @ 08.20 : done @ 14.26 = 6min og 6 sec = 366 sec
    492458246144 / 366 = ~1.35 b edps

    More information @ http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/17084928946?page=15#288

After i recorded this run, i have only been fishing for 59-60 runs, something i still haven't managed to finish. But its only a matter of time.

    So wish me luck :)

Maybe you can get some hints from this video in regards to playstyle: (skip elites and only fight large chunks of white monsters)

Now i only need to spawn the legendary ratboss...
