posted a message on PTR Patch 4 Set Questions

If you want to direct a question to Blizzard, you've gone down the wrong road doing so on a third-party fansite that has no affiliation with the company. There are official forums and also twitter accounts you could direct that to.

However, I can confidently answer you that no, your existing item will not auto update to a random % on patch day, you will have to find a new Unwavering Glare.

Wow, this thread is still going on?

Not really. It just got necro'd so someone could post an opinion which added nothing that hadn't already been said on page one ("you get more loot per rift keystone if you full clear" - no shit, Sherlock)

posted a message on making loot tables differ from act to act?

No. The one tiny nod this game has towards loot tables is the bounty-cache-specific legendaries, and that has done far more harm than good (hands up everyone who has done 100x more Act I bounties than Acts II - V combined?)

Take season 1 for example. when it rolled over, you only got to keep a percentage of your exp. If thats true, then why? Prolly cuz you gained it quicker cuz its buffed.

What on earth are you talking about?

zdps class in a group is only required for HIGH grs. HIGH grs where you can one shot by everything are DESIGNED to be hard. in what world are we SUPPOSED to be able to do gr55's consistently? if you want to push grs, its going to get hard. thats the point.

Arguably, everything beyond GR30 or so (where you can upgrade gems to rank 25 with reasonable comfort) is purely for the lulz. No game balance decisions should be made in order to improve the game beyond GR30, without extremely stringent assurance that they won't hurt the game up to that point.

And yet we still see people on these forums boasting about having full 6-piece class sets within 12 hours of creating a new seasonal character.

I guess that will end up being a wait-and-see. If Blizzard is doing their job right, the only time Diablo will ever see power creep is when a brand new expansion is released, and the level cap on players and items is increased.

New items for Diablo shouldn't actually introduce the standard power-creep. It's a different environment than something such as World of Warcraft, where power creep is needed because new items and tiers mean you need higher and higher numbers, and thus power creep is actually essential.

That's certainly a valid attitude towards the game's design, but it's clearly not one which is shared by Blizzard. I mean, look at Legendary Gems in 2.1 and Ancient Legendaries in 2.1.2. The clearest power creep imaginable. I think it's obviously Blizzard's intention that new patches, within the same expansion and level cap, will bring power creep. I guess the intent is to give a fresh feeling of progression to people who are stuck as that point where they've looted thousands of legendaries and thus 99.9% of drops are useless to them.

Just pointing out, the twitter post you linked is almost three years old.

To be fair, both the forum post saying "All mods are in violation of the Diablo III Terms of Use and can result in your account being permanently banned" and the tweet saying "I agree DarkD3 is not a cheat...yet. As long as it is not a cheat, no ban is likely" are from May 2012.

posted a message on The elephant in the room (rorg)

I see a few people suggesting "make sets require fewer pieces for their bonus" to make RoRG less mandatory.

Wouldn't that actually make it even MORE powerful and thus MORE mandatory, by giving even greater scope for getting multiple top set bonuses simultaneously?

e.g. instead of equipping 5 pieces of a 6 piece set + RoRG you could now equip 3 pieces each of two different 4 piece sets, plus RoRG, getting two powerful set bonuses?

Or is the answer to try to make all the most powerful set bonuses effectively exclusive, by making them buff specific skills?

If they started offline tomorrow, the integrity of the game would fail, tomorrow. Tomorrow there would be a collapse.

And if anyone disagrees with this assertion by ruksak, then I direct you to the numerous threads from console players, where there is a play mode that allows offline storage of characters, and it has caused massive damage to the integrity of the game. e.g. people joining random games and instantly gaining 100 paragon levels because the game host is using edited items.

I'm going to be generous and assume that English is not this guy's first language, and that is why he is so unable to express a coherent thought in it.

How much would it suck, to be leveling a new character, just to "shake things up" with the RNG (that can't be shaken), and at level 36, you have a Furnace drop, or at 59 an Incense Torch?
My first three RoRGs were all low-level ones obtained whilst leveling alts. Brought tears to the eyes, it did. Was a long time before I ever saw a level 70 one.

I never understood why these people don't hire an english speaking person for like, $100, to proofread some email templates for them and make corrections. They could probably scam like several % more people successfully and easily make back whatever they pay this one, single person. Not that I want them to be more successful, but it seems like, common sense...
According to one researcher, it's because the scammers only want to catch the attention of people stupid and gullible enough to fall for their scam. The bad grammar scares away the people who are just about dumb enough to believe, but not dumb enough to just hand over their passwords and credit card numbers.

Have a read of "Nigerian scam emails 'deliberately implausible'"

It's not really new. We've had emails with hideously mangled grammar and fake links for a decade now.

But it's always good to remind new players.. never ever ever ever click on these links.
