Just wanted to say; good job on the main logo, looks perfect now. (I'm guessing you're responsible for changing it, if not, GJ to whoever that person may be.) :)

If you want more darkness, turn down the gamma, turn down the brightness, turn down the contrast, nuff said, no more whining..good day

I don't think it's whining at all, it's constructive criticism. As a theme, Diablo has been a hack 'n' Slash action rpg set in a dark horror-fantasy driven world (with slight noir undertones), Diablo III looks to be set in a supernatural fantasy world with a dab of horror. (at least that's my take on it from the game play trailer.)

To me, Diablo was all about the feeling of fear (not so much DII though) and that's what made it special (a lot like the Aliens game where you wouldn't know where the next Alien was, until it was almost crawling up your backside.) the feeling of fear can be generated in many ways, and in terms of gaming, it's through the use of being unaware of your surroundings and what's around the next corner, through the use of low light and lots of shadows, the uncertainty of death/losing, sounds which give clues of what's beyond the darkness, twisted music which adds to the darkness, etc..

I don't really feel Diablo III has any of these traits as far as the trailer's concerned.

I for one would dislike the game if these "darkness" qualities were not added, but a lot of the people here who are trying to silence us from disputing these differences wouldn't really care if it were dark or bright. I've hardly come across a single post which a user has explained how they would rather this "new" feel to the older, darker one.

Imo there should be limitations to pictures in signatures. Maybe 500 or something posts and u can have pictures there.

Now we have every 10+ poster here with the sign petition animations flashin :)

Hey, but even though I only have 30 posts, I've been here since 2006 checking the forum frequently, it wouldn't be fair on little old me :(((

    57.

One little annoyance I have is about the main logo bar at the top, it's not really a problem, but I just think that the Fans.com part should be moved to the right more, it looks strange the way it lays partly on top of the "A" from Diablo. and that it's not directly in the middle of the "I I I" if you know what I mean.

The only other suggestion I have is to fix the email notifications. :)

Once upon a time, there lived a demon, a demon whose name was Diablo. Diablo was a cheerful fellow, he would laugh and sing and always cracked jokes at his other brothers.

One day, Diablo was taking a stroll through a lava pit when he came across a man trapped inside a boat made of an indestructible material.

"Don't eat me!" cried the man.

Diablo gazed down at the doll like figure and moved his sharp claws towards the newcomer, picking him up gently by the scruff of his shirt.

    "AHHHHHHHHHH!!!" screamed the man.

"Don't worry." replied Diablo, "I won't eat you" he continued.

and with that, he moved his hand still holding the little man, past the boat and dropped him in the lava.

"There you go little fellow." said Diablo.

But then Diablo realised he made a big mistake, when the man started sinking into the lava, burning alive and screaming in agony.

"Oh no, not again!" Cried Diablo.

That night Diablo cried for the little man, and never went to the same lava pit again.

    The end.

Anyone checked how long the corpses stay in d2.. it seems that if u spend some time out of that area they dissappear?

About d3 the area you see is a lot bigger so it would have to show pretty much corpses actually. Besides seems like some of the corpses get ripped apart pretty bad :)

In D2 I think there's a limit to how many corpses can be shown, it must be around 50 or so and then they start disappearing one-by-one after every kill. Might be wrong though.

I don't think this has been covered yet, if it has my bad.

I mentioned this in the input thread for Blizzard, but it was probably over looked considering what happened to that thread. In any case my suggestion is that the corpse despawn time be lengthened. From what I gathered from the game play video it is somewhere around 10 seconds. I'd really like to stand in piles of slain monsters or at least the blood of slain monsters (blood splatters should definitely be permanent). Killing 50 monsters and having the ground be spick and span immediately after doesn't seem right to me, nor does it seem fitting for a Diablo game.

I thought maybe they did this so as to not slow the game down with unnecessary rendering, but then I thought that if it could render them while moving around without problems then stationary shouldn't be an issue. I think...

So, anyone agree this aspect needs some work? Think there should be some evidence of that last corridor where you were ambushed by countless ghouls, zombies, and cultists, yet dispatched of them all in a not so friendly manner?

    I most certainly do.

Oh, and http://infoceptor.net/strategy/diablo2/walkthrough/mission22/shot3.jpg is a link to some random picture I found of Diablo II corpses and blood splatters. I want it to be like this!

I agree! I was talking about this with my brother yesterday, the despawning of monsters is too quick, I loved that when you could see the corpses of the things you'd killled rather than them fading away into the abyss. At least have the ground open up and the slain monsters getting sucked down into hell or something, it just seems cheap to have the corpses fade away after 10 seconds.

I noticed before the new Diablo had been unveiled, that I wasn't receiving any more notifications on speculations and updates on it from here. I used to get emails whenever anything new came up which might have been anything to do with a new Diablo instalment, but now I'm not getting any, I didn't even get one to say that a new Diablo had been shown, it happened after the site moved I think.

Has the admin just not been sending any out?

I would really like it if there could be notifications if any major news comes up on the game.

    Thanks.

I loved the gameplay trailer. diablo for me is the ultimate hack n slash rpg. Never had nothing to do with the creepyness for me..100,000 random gen wpns and 5000 unique wpns, skills, stats, monsters that were unique, dungeons and realms that were unlike any other, pvp and co-op is what this game was all about. ACTUALLY now that I think about it...What would be awesome is incorporating daytime and nighttime. Nighttime with the darker light radius visuals and daytime..the best of both worlds..

For me, those were the additions to the game, feel, tone, music and story line are very important factors to me, although Diablo lacked any story depth.

I can pick up any game and it probably has some playability value, but not many games can touch people on a more emotional note; other than those really frustrating games which make you stamp on your PC and burn it to a pile of dust.

You could give me Diablo 1 with only a few different types of weapons/equipment in the whole game and I'd still play it, just for the tone it sets.

Imagine if you took away those properties from the original Diablo, the darkness, the eerie sounds, the gritty voice acting, the disemboweled corpses tied down to alters and impaled on the walls. The game would just be a blank piece of paper.

How about all of you childish people complaining about the artwork and armor stop complaining. I'm pretty sure Blizzard knows how to make THEIR OWN GAME, better than all of you little kids thinking it's cool to create petitions for changes. I'm gonna laugh when they scrap the whole game from you dumbasses compaining... Grow up, Shut up, and get on with your lives you stupid little kids.

Christ, you're the one coming off as childish, we are also the people who've made the series popular. Without us, there would probably be no Diablo III. To us it's like going to an ice cream shop and asking for a strawberry ice cream, and them giving us a banana ice cream, yeah we get an ice cream, but it tastes like shit.

You're right, Blizzard knows how to make games, but their main focus is to make money, thus why it looks like they're making a game that appeals to a wider audience, but almost forgetting about the people who have played Diablo since the first instalment. So in reality, if you hate kids so much, then this game aint for you, because you're gonna get 5 year olds playing it due to Blizzard making it for a wider audience.

I don't think a petition is going to do much, so I'm not gonna sign any.

From the gameplay trailer, I have to say that it was a disappointment to me. Playing Diablo I for the first time would send shivers down my spine, the darkness making it difficult to see the next monster heading towards you, the eerie sounds, the dark gritty tone of the game similar to that of Sin City. That's what made Diablo unique! Diablo II followed on, with a slightly lighter tone and not so sinister. But Diablo III looks like every other hack & slash/rpg, I mean, maybe this is early days and maybe they will fiddle with the lighting, but to be honest, they've been working on the game for 4 years.

I'm still quite excited about the game, but I'm more excited about any new novels on the way. At least the novels stick to the original feeling that the first two games had.

If they do implement such a system, I would rather it sticks to how people used to refer to it, clans, rather than guilds. Do they still use the term clans in D2? Or has it switched over to guilds?

i'm not sure u even fully read my post. I said that lvling is really easy if you do quests and instances.

No you didn't, you said it was easy to get to lvl 60 without any helps.

    Quote from "FingolfinGR" »
first off, lvling doesnt take too long. It took me 120 hours (counted by the game) to get to lvl 60 with my first character without any helps

On the last part ur partially right. Blizzard wants to make money. Thats why they added the armor upgrade quests, the mostly soloable quest chain that only requires few hours gaming/day to complete. But check the really big patches in the past. Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Ahn Qiraj and Naxxramas. To do these instances u needed to be in the top guilds of ur server at that time. And these guilds take only the most hardcore players around.

So I was right because I said that they wouldn't aim directly at hardcore gamers. (meaning they would aim at everyone because it's a commercial game, but more at the casual gamer.)
    Quote from "Tatsumaru" »
I don't really think blizzard would aim WoW at hardcore gamers directly, they want money, and the majority of gamers ain't hardcore. They aimed the game at anyone

And these guilds take only the most hardcore players around.

I was in the top guild of my server, and they we're doing instance after instance everyday and if you werent a hardcore gamer they didn't care, all they wanted was to get the loot.

Well anyway I don't want to argue, I think the MMORPG system is flawed, and you don't, it's all a matter of opinion. There's no point in me replying to this thread anymore, because I've disputed my point. Thanks for the convo.
