Not playing D4 myself and earliest I'd give it a try would be winter - too many things to do outside in summer ;)

But D4 looks pretty well-received by my friends. I think it needs some polish, just from my personal observer point of view, and many QoL features are for some reason announced to come "later" in Season 2 or 3, not sure why so late... I think just like D3 it'll be better over time. I played 5k hours in D3 and sometimes wish I could just forget them all and approach it as a "new game" because I think for a casual who hasn't played D3 the game right now is fantastic, especially if you don't rush everything. Maybe D4 will be even better and like that in a few years, and maybe then I'll give it a go. Just no desire atm :)

Completely agree though that it's sad to see DFans in this state... they made a builds tool but just as the forums aren't used anymore (really everything is on Reddit these days, forums are only for a few dinosaurs like me) and the other build tools out there just have more traction and somehow stole the thunder, so I'm not sure what's going to happen with this site. Also needs a visual revamp to be in D4 style but no clue if there's any plans for that. With visitor numbers being that low, and the D4 launch craze over, not sure if there's any way to get back momentum.

So, as people might have noticed and I've reiterated in some threads, this forum is pretty barren at the moment. I've told the folks who are running the show it needs some new content and a reboot for D4, we'll see what's gonna happen. There is a very few of you, old names; who have been around a while and are still checking, so I'm genuinely curious where people are at. Hint: If you're a new account make damn sure your post doesn't look like some ChatGPT random answer or I'm banning you to hell. ;-)

Question to all of you: What are your plans for D4, and what's your backstory of the Diablo universe (and beyond)?

I'll start. I'll just get this out of the way straight away - I most likely won't be playing D4, certainly not at start, maybe come winter if the game and/or my mood towards it changes significantly. What I've seen so far looks like a boring re-hash of D3 (which I've overplayed with around 5k hours), in an MMO setting (not good for me as I'd rather play WoW then, but I prefer solo/small group games over MMOs since the peer pressure makes me play too much). I'm also in general not trusting Blizzard at all anymore, I've elaborated on that topic at length here.

I still remember the beginnings of D1, it was truly magical and a breath of fresh air in the late 90s. Then D2 was maybe one of the most perfect games ever, mostly because of the ambience. And it was the music, not the colour, as Blizzard seems to not have understood - just turning the brightness down and gore up doesn't make a Diablo game, the music of D1+D2 was haunting and that's what made it special for me, Lut Gholein was fucking brighter than a 1000 suns, all this "D3 isn't dark enough" shit does my head in. Then I switched to WoW for about 2 years and got terribly addicted and swore to not touch WoW ever again... and instead was eagerly waiting for D3 because I wanted the single player experience. D3 was okay, but never as awesome as D2. What made it great for me was the friends along the way - some I consider very close, even IRL friends, now. I continued to play D3 even after most of them stopped just to finish the season journey, but stopped doing that about a year ago as well. During the pandemic, I kept my head above water with WoW Classic, and as expected got hooked again - way too hooked. But since the end of the pandemic I've just more and more lost the desire to play video games altogether; quit WoW, and haven't touched any game in 2023. Maybe it'll come back, but I've watched a few D4 beta streams and videos and it really, really didn't look appealing. I could go at length about what it is that I don't like, but maybe the TL:DR is just that... after playing on and off a lot for the past nearly 30 years, the pandemic was a last hoorah of playing waaaaaay too much (WoW mostly) it might just be it for games. At least the ones that consume a lot of time, and both MMOs as well as ARPGs tend to do that. Maybe casually playing some SC2 coop come winter again or so, we'll see.

    So, how's everyone else doing?

This site is dead mainly due to censoring, most threads have deleted posts and answers, no discussion is allowed here, just praise diablo and that's it.

I can assure you, absolutely *nothing* is being censored. Every single post that has been deleted (and yes there are many) is spam.

It's usually a random new user who makes a seemingly related post (probably AI-generated) and after a few days or so some marketing URL or even worse a phishing URL is edited into the post. It's the same all the time. That is literally ALL the deleted posts you see. And yes, it's a lot. I wish I could say there's more activity than spam bots but unfortunately that's not the case.

This thing is so helpful, I always keep it up on my second screen to see what I need to do. It's not working today and I have no idea what to do. Yeah, I could totally look in the game, but I like seeing it all at the same time and I'm a creature of habit.

Yeah sorry about that, something broke my server redirects yesterday and I just noticed right now, trying to figure out what it is and how to fix it. Hope to have the site back up shortly!

Yeah, I got the conquests - already added to the season overview (http://d3resource.com/seasons/). But yeah, looking for the journey :) It's just the bosses that are really relevant. But come to think of it, worst case I'll grab them from Asia server, so we'll know them ahead of time in Asia.

There were general login issues with the battle.net launcher. Asia started (to my knowledge) on time.

Also: gratz, @BehindTimes to a successful start on Asia! I kept a close eye on the leaderboards during the start, and I believe you were #6 at 70. Was interesting to see how things unfolded.

posted a message on Why restart game multiple times when levelling to 70

    1) Looking for a specific bounty, usually. But it depends on the strategy, so which guides specifically are you referring to? There's many different strategies.

    2) You can upgrade gear before or after reset, doesn't make a huge difference.

    3) That kind of "snapshotting" is one strategy, yes. I see a lot of people planning to do that. I have some concerns:

    i) If lots of people do this, the servers will go nuts and you will wait a minute or so before being able to create a new game. It simply doesn't work if too many people do this kind of quick game recreation strategy. Always have a backup strategy that does not require a new game.

ii) This requires lots of coordination, planning, and practice. If you don't know exactly what you're doing, it won't be any more efficient than just doing what you usually do (kill streaks or rifts). This is an advanced strategy for min/maxers.

iii) The person who does the snapshotting will have a lower level, and hit level 70 quite a bit later. This imbalance is difficult to handle. In general, many people focus way too much on the 1-70 race, when it's actually a 1-Chapter IV race. /u/behindtimes on Reddit made a very nice post about this.
