Brutus is right. Permastun is not needed for 40's speed runs.

You guys might have a point there... ;)

Yeah you can use In-Geom to negate this in lesser rifts being run for speed, but that that point who cares?

I'm not a big fan of In-Geom as imo there are way better choices for your weapon(s) but in my experience, running an Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac is very helpful in terms of CDR. Reducing an active Cooldown by 1sec every time you spend resources might not sound that much at first but if you already have a decent amount of CDR, it makes a huge difference on that relatively small downtime that is still left. Adding another 25% CDR from a perfect Leorics is of course a good thing as well but when you're already at 70+% CDR, the diminishing return lowers the effect of that additional CDR by a lot, while on the other hand the effective CDR from that ring bypasses the DR.

Of course, i can only talk about my experience on a support monk but as far as that goes, i'd say putting a diamond in your helmet is a waste of another more useful stat, i.e. either xp or life.

What i can imagine to make sense in high grifts where you need a lot more toughness, is to use a rorg as a second ring in order to allow yourself to get another set bonus (i would probably go for 4p blackthorn's) and maybe exchange the crown for either a set piece or a helmet with another useful effect.

Besides that, i completely agree with you: If you're gearing for high grifts, you have to prioritize more important things over experience gain (though i'd go for a different strategy there than yours) and if you're only doing rather low speed grifts, you will most likely be able to fit in quite a bit of xp gear without noticably lessen your ability to perform your role.

When it comes to trusting Blizzard to make the right choices, i suppose it's hard to argue abut that. From my experience, they sometimes find an awesome solution that makes things just so much better than before and sometimes they really screw up badly.

Personally, i prefer to expect the best and if i'm wrong, at least my mood doesn't get ruined by the actual outcome before it's really there. ;)

Ugh, why do I not trust Blizzard to make adequate changes to support builds? I feel like they're just going to crush support altogether, making such builds useless. In any rpg I've played with others, I've found the role of support far more gratifying. In WoW I always gravitated towards tanking, and to a lesser extent healing. Sure, being able to effectively deal damage while avoiding damage can be fun, but for me, being able to protect your party and buff your party has always felt far more useful. And blizz has the terrible habit of being unable to find balance. It's either all or nothing for them. so RIP support builds soon, guess its back to DHmasterrace.

With a short research, i've only found a blue post about them not liking perma-stun. It seems, their plan is to get rid of that in order to force supports to focus more on their defenses. Doesn't sound too bad to me, actually... I think that with a change like that, supports will only become more important, even if they lose the ability to gear primary towards max experience gain.

I don't see a problem with supports using XP gear, as long as it doesn't limit their capability to do their job.

For example, while i am using allmost full xp gear on my zdps monk, i realized that using Leorics Signet instead of that Zodiac ring (the one that reduces cooldowns whenever you spend resources) lets me use my skills a lot less frequently. If i insisted on using Leorics anyways, it would decrease my performance and at that point, i would really start to consider myself a leecher instead of a dedicated support who happens to have the benefit of being able to wear xp gear.

However, i do see the problem for people who just don't want to play a support and therefore have a much harder time getting their paragon level up.

Personally, i don't mind having to play a support when i want to level more effectively because i find it to be just as much fun as being a dps. If someone just doesn't like the support role though, i don't think that he should be punished for that by leveling much slower...

If there was no xp gear, i wouldn't really mind: When playing my dps, i wouldn't have to feel like im losing out on experience gains and when playing my support, i might feel less limited when it comes to effective gear setups (though of course i can also just ignore the xp and focus on other stuff right now) and would find a grp much easier (not that im really having problems now) since there would most likely be much less supports than now.

On the other hand, people who only play dps might find that they have a much harder time finding a good support for their grp and realize that not having a "leecher" slows their leveling down even more than just not wearing xp gear themselves... ;)

    tl;dr:
I like playing dps and i also like playing support. The fact that i can use "leech" gear while supporting my grp, is pretty nice. If there wasn't any xp gear, i'd still be happy to play a support char from time to time. It wouldn't make that much of a difference to me...

However, those of you who only want to play dps and cry about the unfairness of "leech gear", might not be too happy if that was actually changed and many current "leechers" would give up on the support role. Then, to build an effective grp, you would have to put up with all that arrogance you are showing right now from the other side... ;)

PS: In my own experience ingame, i have never met any dps who considered me a leecher or anything like that when i played support. Even with the xp gear motivating people to play zdps, it's still much easier to find a decent grp as a support than as a dps.

@Sexton: If i rush through lower MP i don't even see most things drop, so the problem would still be the same...
Besides that, almost every item has a potential for an absolutely awesome roll, so i just pick up everything. Since they implemented the feature to identify everything at once, i prefer to just do that and then sort out the crap (usually thats everything^^) instead of having to think about what i pick up and what i leave behind...

Besides that, i now tried using rend and it works pretty good, at least for farming white mobs on MP10.
I can't risk taking a break to pickup rares most of the time but the experience and legendary drops are really nice. :)

    I'm currently playing on MP7.
On lower MP i have a harder time keeping WotB up (partly because i pickup all the rares) and for the higher ones, my dmg is still a bit low...

I like the idea of using Rend instead of War Cry, gonna try that right away, maybe i can even switch Bloodthirst to Brawler with the additional healing from Rend. :D

Thanks a lot for that advice!

Besides that, anyone happen to have an answer to my other questions? :)

I've posted the following on the official D3 forums already (under the title "Help? Spending fury to slowly" which doesn't fit that good as while typing the post i remembered a lot of other questions).
As the responses over there were a little bit of, well, nonexisting (at least so far), i decided to try it here too. Because of that, a few sentences might look strangely, like f.e. the first one. ;)
My character profile can be found here:
    http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/malvar-2321/hero/2137619

As the title says, i have a problem spending my fury fast enough to keep WotB up.
My Fury regeneration is actually quite good and as long as i play on a high enough MP and there are enough monsters, there's no problem on that side.

But as WotB uptime doesnt get longer by regenerating fury while being on max already, i have to spam Spring and Battle Rage and recently i started to think that maybe i might lose some ticks if i keep refreshing Sprint as much as i can and never let it run out...
Also it's quite annoying to have to constantly hammer on the keys for those two skills while in fight, i think it would be much more relaxing if i only had to refresh them when they run out and not also because i have too much fury...

So, is this normal or am i doing something wrong here?
Maybe my gear isn't good enough? I can imagine that with a higher aps i could spend my fury faster but if so, where's the point when WW + keeping up sprint is enough?

Besides that, i am wondering how i best improve my gear:
I am thinking about switching my pants and shoes for Innas Pants and Ice Breakers but i'm not sure if within a reasonable budget that would work out to my benefit. (besides i dont really understand why ice breakers are so good, i just know that everyone uses them)

Then, there's my jewelry: It's probably quite ok but i can imagine that there's room for improvement as well. Maybe i should try to get more AS there? I've not done that yet because i get less paper dps like that but maybe it could be worth losing some of it for faster attacks?

Besides that, i'm wondering about what the cheapest way to get more defense as i think that i'm not at the best point in that category either...

    My budget is pretty low:
I currently got about 23m and if i would be willing to maybe buy another 50-100m on the rmah if it's worth it.
(by that i mean i wouldn't want to spend real money for a few k more dps but if that gold would allow me to partly rebuild my character for a more enjoyable playing experience, that would totally be worth it to me)

Thanks in advance for your help!

PS: I know that Frenzy is not as good as Bash in terms of fury generation but i think some additional single target dmg is quite helpful for the situations where only a single yellow one is left.
Besides that, any suggestions about my skills are very welcome of course. :)

    Edit:
I just remembered to other questions that bug me:

1.) Back in the days when i was farming Act 3 on low MP, i had decided to cap my MF and slowly lose the one on my gear while gaining paragon levels and i really notices that difference to the low MP i had before.
Now, that i am farming higher MPs though, i am wondering if that's really worth it anymore or if i'm just wasting my gold by trying to maintain that level of magic find...

2.) A very similar question is about %XP. Since on higher MP you now get a lot of that independant from your gear, i figured that putting a Life% gem in my helmet as well as replacing my mediocre Hellfire Ring with a better one, would be a good trade-off.
Yet i'm not sure about it, so if anyone could clarify that for me, it would be great, :)

posted a message on WW Barb need gear advice (Budget ~20m)
Ok, first of all, i guess the main problem making it so hard for you to give me good advice might be that i didnt exactly know what i was actually aiming for. What you told me so far already helped me to move one step forward though, so i think i can define my goals a bit more clear now:

In the short terms, i want to improve my MP0 farming a bit in order to do as many paragon levels there until the next patch will hit.
In terms of my fury generation, what you told me so far, already helped me a lot. Switching that one passive combined with my new oh mostly solved that part of my problem, so i want to focus on pushing my dps a bit more next as i still leave some monsters alive if i just run through them. But all in all i can't complain too much for now.
About my MF: I am 12% over cap currently, so i will be able to switch one of my mf items soon without losing my capped status. Maybe you happen to have an idea on which item to go for?

My mid term goal is about what you suggested for me to do: Move on to higher mp. Like i said, im planning to wait for 1.0.7 to hit before i will do that and i hope to be at around paragon 60 by then. I also will probably drop as much MF as i need by then and focus only on gear efficiency by then.
For now its just that farming mp0 is the most effective way for both drops and xp and while i stick with it, i can easily afford to lose some other stats in order to keep mf capped.

So, first about my short term plans:
You were suggesting i might change Unity for something with IAS. Were you thinking of any specific item that would be a good (and affordable) choice or should i rather just look for a nice rare ring?

Besides that, i by now came to the conclusion that investing too much in my mp0 gear would not make too much sense anymore, so i will focus my planning from now on on my post 1.0.7 gear for higher mp farming. Which brings me to some more questions that i can bother you with: ;)

First of all, i am wondering, for how long it makes sense to keep my 5piece IK bonus before i should drop the helmet and look out for a mempo. (fury generation shouldnt be that much of a concern on higher mp, so i will probably be fine with just the 3 pieces bonus) Also i am unsure about which other set part i should exchange and what would be a good replacement.

Besides that, i guess that one of my main concerns will then be to get new weapons.
About the oh, you already gave me some advice and after thinking about it, going for ls there is probably the better option compared to trying to get that on my mh.
Speaking of EF, i have read that its proc rate is much lower when using it as oh but it still procs, so probably it's not the best option overall but maybe still something to consider when it comes to cost efficiency?

Where i am mostly clueless is though what to aim for on my mh then. A bit of advice on where to set my priorities here would therefore be very helpful to me.

Also i could use some advice on how to divide my budget on the single items. I think that until 1.0.7 hits, i should be able to get around 50m together, either by farming or selling my monks gear or if neither of it works out, i might just invest a few € in the rmah to cover whats missing. (When the game was fresh, i sold some stuff there, so i still can justify it to myself by saying that even if i spend another 5-10€, i will keep a positive balance on real money auctions :) )

About my defensive stats, i already mentioned that i have some shoulders that (even though they look horrible) are probably not that bad (i wrote their stats in my last post) and would improve my hp pool by quite a bit. Together with a hp% gem, i guess that would put me in a position where i would only need another few slight improvements to be fine, though i would of course prefer to stick with a ruby for the extra xp, if i can afford it.
But mostly, i would probably have to get more dps for higher mp farming to be effective.

Well, to make it short: Any more specific advice on how to improve my gear toward this goal would be great. (By specific advice, i mean not only which stats to aim for, which is helpful too of course, but also which parts of my current gear to replace next and what kind of replacement to look for.) Another question that i am unsure about, is whether i should try to improve all of my gear a little (i guess i am already past that point) or rather buy few, more expensive parts and stick with the rest. (Thinking of it, i guess i already mentioned that how to divide my budget is one of my big concerns.)

About how i will change my spec: I actually intended to go for bloodthirst as my third passive, aiming for ls somewhere around 8% but as you said, that ~5,5% would be enough, i guess there is a better option? Maybe that one (dont know the english name as im playing with a german client) that increases my dmg when im surrounded by enough monsters would be the best option for farming? If so, what would you suggest for Uber-Bosses, sticking with bloodthirst?

Besides that, are you sure that 20% more ar is better than 20% more armor? I actually thought that both are equally good and therefore it would be best to buff the one that i already have more of to get the most extra defense...

Well, thats all my new questions for now. I hope i am not being too complicated. :)

And thanks again for giving me so much advice, you are really helping me a lot!

PS: If by "wall of text" you didnt mean a lot of completely unformatted text, that would have been fine for me too. I don't mind reading a long post at all. (Also i am probably not the one to tell anyone to make it short as this is obviously not a strength of mine either.^^)

posted a message on WW Barb need gear advice (Budget ~20m)
First of all, thanks for the advice!

What i probably should have mentioned, is that i dropped quite a bit of LS and HP in order to keep my MF capped while i am farming on MP0. When i will move up to higher MP, i will of course replace Unforgiving with Bloodthirst as well as my MH with one that has LS on it, probably the echoing fury i was using before i started focussing on mp0 runs.
I also got some ilvl 61 shoulders with 217 str, 64vit, 71ar and 11% life that give me quite a boost in terms of my hp pool and of course theres always the option of replacing my helmet gem with a life% one.

So, in terms of survivability i could easily get to the point where i can survive even on MP10 but i just dont do enough dmg for it to make sense, which is why my current goal is mainly to improve my rage generation and dps.

So much on what i forgot to mention. ;)

About your idea of replacing Unforgiving with Animosity, i guess thats quite a good idea. (still talking about low mp farming of course)
I will definitely try this though after reading its description i am already wondering why i didnt think of that myself. *facepalm*

About the Offhand: So far i thought that my current one is quite good as it has quite some str as well as 98% cd + socket but as it seems i might have been to focussed on paper dps there.
If i will get a replacement there, should i focus more on its stats or is the dps more important? (rltw ignores the oh dps, doesnt it?) Somewhere i've also read that Echoing Fury is a very good option as oh for its attack speed increase also counts toward the mh. if that is correct, should i try to get a decent one of these or would you still recommend to just aim for a fast sword/dagger with good stats?

Also: Should i try to get more IAS on my gear, even if that means to drop some other important stats and maybe even lose a bit on paper dps or would that be a bad idea?

Again thanks for your advice and for any more suggestions i hope you can give me on what i just wrote. :)

Edit: I just managed to find a sword with 1.4 attacks/sec, 337str, 90% cd, a socket and 770dps (just 20 less than the spear i had before) for 700k. While it still has no LS (which i wont miss for now), i think it was a pretty good deal. I now moved up to 1.6 attacks per second and gained around 2k paper dps which is nice too.
Would you suggest to stick with that one and put my money in some other gear first? (If not, i wasted only 700k which wouldnt be so bad either:) )

posted a message on WW Barb need gear advice (Budget ~20m)
    Hi everyone,

some of you might remember me asking for advice on my barb some about a half year ago and what you told me back then really helped me a lot.

Yet i am now again at a point, where i could use some help on what to do next with my gear.

First of all here is my profile:

    http://eu.battle.net/d3/de/profile/malvar-2321/hero/2137619

My current budget is around 20m but as i consider selling my monks gear i might get a bit more together in the near future, so if you happen to think of any massive upgrade for me that is a bit out of my budget, feel free to still tell it to me. :)

    About my playstyle:
I am currently farming a slightly extended Alkaizer route in Act 3 on MP0, but as soon as Patch 1.0.7 hits, i might want to move on to higher monster powers.

For now, my biggest concern though is that i am still running out of fury from time to time, even though i got 5 pieces IK and Unforgiving. (I also cant keep WotB up for a long time but i guess thats pretty normal on MP0)
Any advice considering higher MP would be helpful too of course.

    Looking forward to your answers,

    Quote from Jurnon
. Plus, blizzard surely did not balance the leveling curve around no-ah challenges :)

Actually they did. I cant remember where i read the quote and i honestly am just too lazy to search for it but i remember one of the D3 designers saying that while testing they went into inferno with stuff like 500dps weapons cause they just didnt have so many players that they could just buy good stuff from a well populated ah...
In other words: D3 was designed originally to be beatable without buying anything off the auction house. It just was meant to be much harder. I also remember them telling that Inferno was meant to be an absurdly hard challenge that they were unable to beat themselves...

Of course i have to admnit that MP10 probably was not designed for non-ah players but more as a real challenge even to those who excessively buy equipment on the ah. Still the whole "Blizzard forcing the ah on players" thing is just not true, it was actually more like the other way around... ;)

posted a message on Legen...wait for it...dary Drop Rates
Personally i like the new drop rates:
Since 1.0.4 i didnt find a single legendary, now after 1.0.5 hit, i got already one legendary and a set item. Both of course rolled such bad stats that they are completely worthless but at least now i feel like i have a chance at eventually finding an item that might either be an improvement for my gear (which is not that good at all) or worth more than 100k gold.
So i can't say the game got boring because of the patch but the opposite is true: I am finally motivated to farm again, even though i know it will still take a lot of time finding something of worth...

posted a message on Need help getting my WW barb ready for Act3 (budget 10m)
First of all thanks to all of you!

I am now starting to understand how important it is to raise my crit chance and most of all that it is worth losing some other stats in order to do so. I guess this will probably be my first step then.

Also i see the point of switching to an axe, so i will probably try that too and trust you that the extra fury from my current mainhand will not be necessary anymore as soon as i crit more often.

Getting highly defensive chest and pants while focussing on attack values on other items seems like quite a good idea as well, so i might try that too.

Guess that already sums up to a quite good plan for the beginning...

Besides that, im wondering about the boots: Is the movement speed really worth it or is there a cap which makes it useless when i got sprint and wotb running anyways?
