Thanks Zero. I have a couple of characters that can do GRift 50+ but most of my characters don't have great gear and might struggle to "speed farm" T10. Those guides would help so I see what I have and try to make the most of those characters until I can get enough gear to wreck it.
Generally speaking the LoN builds, Locust WD and others we've featured in the past are good "starting point" builds for T10. Since we've previously featured those, I figured we could use a more high end T10 build - something players who play a lot more can look forward to setting up if they want an optimized T10 farming setup (for whatever reason).
Thanks for the feedback tho! I'll make sure we highlight more "starter" builds for getting to T10, with slightly lower requirements.

I don't see why people are getting bent out of shape. It's the PTR, they change stuff all the time to gather data on what the final builds will be.
People need to chill and wait until the patch is actually out before they yell "RIP <insert my favorite class here>".

They changed it so it brought more risk to those equipping it and spending resources. With so many cost reduction affixes, you could do pretty high dps with consecutive spenders and still maintain the buff. By raising the resource limit, it forces more of a gameplay choice on if you use that ability too much to do dps or do less dps and have higher survivability.

Don't forget the changes that were recently done to the Invoker's set for the Crusader. That is one I am definitely looking forward to playing.
I havent payed much attention to the PTR, but for the first time im torn between what class to play in the next season. So many new items that opens for creative builds. At first I was 100% on a melee DH, then i saw the locust WD, then the new items for wizard that interact with arcane orb etc.
I feel like they knock it out of the park with this patch. Im sure there will as always be a few builds that trumps the rest, but to me it seems like there will be alot more to choose from if you dont play the tryhard grift-pushing style.

I agree with you that I don't want them giving away too many details regarding things like bots. I would like more elaboration on some of the other things that are more controversial when it comes to tools and their use. I don't really care much if people bot...in non-season. I do not want the competitive elements of the game (season GRifts for the time being) hit with that type of activity. I think that many people will abandon it and just leave it to the botters to ruin the competitive nature of the game.
No offense to Kauza, but his statement on botting is one of those that made me say, "well no shit." I don't think anyone in this forum thinks that botting is really a legitimate activity in the game. I think they want more frequent action taken to reduce its use.
I think a more meaningful statement would have been talking about things like YOLO Mouse and TurboHUD. There are always discussions posted here where the player base is split on if it is legit and/or punishable to use tools like that. He could have made a powerful statement by posting a much more encompassing statement on this clause within their terms of service.
However, I am glad to see that they have a new leader running the team and hope that he does some great things for their community.
Put it this way. They're doing what they can, and always have been. They say anything more elaborate, they jeopardize their efforts. The simplest and kindest way they can say "We're on it, but you can only expect so much".
I'd go on to say "The only way you'll really get their attention on bots, is if thousands and thousands of players start quitting for simply that reason." Then of course they'd HAVE to focus more of their efforts on stopping bots.... However, I'd near-guarantee you that thousands and thousands and thousands more players would probably stop playing once the content/seasons or whatever else had to make a cutback to put more effort into this department affordably. Also, unlike some people, I don't envision these people sleeping on bags of money at night, but instead working tirelessly and hard to create this.
I also agree that no company has all the funds to do all the things. They have to invest strategically into what they are developing. It could be that the problems most people see are being highlighted by a very vocal minority and don't have much of a negative impact to overall game/customer experience. However, there could be a situation over time where there are diminishing returns for investing in content if there are not controls in-place to improve the user experience. -

I'm not sure who you are referring to in your post. I don't feel that any of the posts in this thread have been "angry" in nature. Just more people talking about their interpretation of the ToS, which really doesn't matter because it's Blizzard's opinion that truly matters.
Personally, I want it cleared up because I want to know what additional tools I can use without being banned by the company. I'm not against addons or tools, I just want clarification because I'm too cheap to buy additional copies of a game I already play in the event I could get banned. -

I love the third person mode, but wouldn't it require some massive changes in the control structure? Granted, if they (mostly) used the scheme over from wow they I could be fine with that change. I would want the ability to toggle between modes though.

They've said that they want to stop a season, patch, then roll out the next season. I think they will create a very upset playerbase if they don't follow that methodology.

Find it funny.
Season 1 ends and a lot of people complain it's too long.
Season 2 ends and a lot of people complain it's too short.
I'm wondering which it's going to be in season 3.
Regardless, depending on what is in the next season (gear-wise), then I might actually play a season this time around.

I think that we will get some sort of information at Blizzcon regarding the future of the Diablo franchise. There is a lot of heat on them for some sort of update, but they are also focusing a lot of energy into shoring up the WoW release, wrapping up SC2, and building Heroes and Overwatch. Overwatch is important because of it's MLG potential and is a nice compliment in that setting to Hearthstone and SC2. Hearthstone is getting the Karazhan expac, so the only group that really didn't see any love is Diablo. By November, a lot of that the work on other properties will be in release, so they could have resources to focus on a "new property in the Diablo universe."

I don't use numlock. I think that part of the skill in playing is to remember stuff like cooldowns. Even when I played WoW, only macros I used were for repetitive tasks.

Thanks for citing the source @spacecadet13. Well...that blows. I was looking forward to that. I guess I have to do DH or monk now...

This just felt like a bunch of complaining about things that the video maker didn't like about D3. It's purely subjective, but it didn't add any value to the time I put into watching it.

If they are going to announce anything, I see them doing it at Gamescon with much more emphasis in Blizzcon.
I still think it would be really cool to do a game for a major platform that has a mobile-app tied to it. You can already play hearthstone on your phone and there area lot of mobile ARPGs already. I'm a little surprised that Blizzard hasn't done more to tap into that market.

Friendly Notice.
If you want to explore some new titles, then you might want to head over to Steam. Their summer sale has begun.

I'm a fan of "make my own meta." I know that I do not have the time to compete on the ladder and I'm okay with that. Instead, I make my own challenges to see what I can do. For example:
It adds a new "freshness" to something I'm already playing.

I expect to see something like this though:
"Energy Twisters spawn new energy twisters on each hit of an enemy. Energy twisters spawned by energy twisters can spawn energy twisters."

My point for writing that post today was to remind people in the forums that they can do different things AND still be a Diablo Fan.

Another idea from fighting games, what if you could build up a meter by hitting and getting hit that lets you execute a super move for the class?
Ever play super mario maker? Ever want to make your own level and submit to see who could beat it the fastest?

The other day I asked myself this question, how much do I play Diablo compared to other games? The answer: 99.5 percent Diablo, 0.5 percent other games, roughly.
I’m a busy guy and don’t really focus on games that can take a lot of scheduling with a team of folks or large time blocks to complete something to enjoy. I left WoW years ago because I couldn’t fit in time for dailies, raiding, building faction rep, farming mats, leveling skills, and the trillion other things that dedicated players with more free time could enjoy. It became a job to remain a “good player” and I already had one of those, so I quit the game and switched to D3. There, I could leave half-way through a rift when the kid started crying and not really care. The opportunity cost was significantly lower than leaving half way through a raid and risk having my guild be pissed.
However I have noticed a few of things since I stopped playing other games:
My opinion of Blizzard started to decline because I began to believe in the vocal minority.
I spend a lot of time reading fan sites for Diablo and see a lot of well constructive arguments/criticisms, but I see more people saying stuff like “Blizzard sucks”, “Diablo is dead”, and “The Devs don’t listen to us.” If you see something long enough and often enough, then you begin to believe it. I fell into that trap.
I spent some time outside of Diablo and tried some other indie games as well as a few AAA titles. If you want to know what a broken game/company looks like, then I highly recommend you go explore some of the options in the Steam/Origin store. There are some atrocious examples of how a company can try to ram a game down your throat, ignore feedback, and try to get you to purchase something that you should have received as part of the base package. It wasn’t until I looked at those titles that I realized that Blizzard has some faults, but they are far from being broken or “dead.”
I was coming up with less creative feedback recommendations on how to improve the game.
When you think of how to improve GRifts, what do you use as a basis of comparison? D2? Torchlight2?
If you live in the world of ARPGs and dungeon crawlers, then you are limiting yourself in your ability to provide feedback that can help shape the future of a game that you enjoy.
For example, the 4 man meta is broken. There are a couple of iterations that work, but mostly the same builds and classes doing the same thing. So what if we take a strategy from popular FPS’ out there and let you change class after you die? You just encountered an Elite pack that just crushed you on your current party design? No problem, swap classes while the rez timer is counting down so you can re-optimize your group for the way the GRift has changed your strategy. Now, the new meta is working together to build a library of characters that can be used in new strategies instead of sticking to a single meta. Those who can build and improve based around the group’s strategy on dealing with certain situations wins.
Another example, I’m a hardcore solo player and I’m about to die. I have an item equipped that lets me tag in another one of my characters to continue the fight for me. Now I don't lose that character and can try a different strategy to win the fight. It helps me in Marvel vs. Capcom, so why can’t I look at the same mechanic here.
I was burning out on a game I loved.
Finally, I was getting burned out on the grind. I didn’t find pleasure in the things I enjoyed in the past. Smashing my head against the GRift tier, trying to quickly farm mats, helping folks power level, etc. When I started to play other games and then come back for some time in Diablo, I began to enjoy those things again. It’s like eating the same food every day without ever trying something else. What you do becomes bland, unpalatable, and you ultimately end us disliking it.
Think of it like a diet. Most diets don’t work because you give up on them and don’t allow yourself to cheat. If you’re true passion is Diablo, then play it but also “cheat” on it. Find some other titles from other genres and go to town. I think you’ll like being refreshed when you re-enter Sanctuary.
In the end, I really, really recommend that you don’t make the mistake I did and lock yourself into a single game. Since I’ve started to branch out, I have started to appreciate my time in Diablo a little more. I see it with a different lens and I can enjoy the good aspects of the game and make better recommendations on the things that need improvement.
If you haven’t branched out lately, then I recommend you do so. It might be what you need to carry you through the rest of the season and keep the fires of the Nephalem burning inside of you.
