I have kind-of a lame one, I salvaged a Skywarden (random Law every 60 seconds) because it rolled with no STR and no socket, without realizing I could've just rolled INT on it and given it to my Enchantress. I know it's more a novelty than a real loss, but I would've liked it for sure.

ShadowFoxGXA posted a message on What legendaires are you actually able to gamble with blood shards? As far as I know you can get any legendary that isn't a Torment only legendary. I play a wizard and have so far gotten, Triumverate, Mykel's Ball of Hate, Chantado's Will and The Oculus gambling on sources. Only source I haven't seen yet is Mirrorball but I know other wizards have gotten it from gambling so I'd say the only one you can't get from gambling is the Firebird set source since it's torment only.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Hope that helps, I'm not certain when it comes to weapons as I have crap luck with them. -

Bagstone posted a message on Co-Op: Too StrongTo be honest shaggy: I rather have it that way than the opposite. And I say this as someone who really likes the single player aspect in Diablo.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
It would be terrible if everyone would just say "I'd rather play alone because it's more efficient" - which would be the case if for the top-top-top players coop would be equally efficient as solo play. Because it would mean that for every non-professional player (not even gonna use the term "casual") group play is heavily de-incentivized.
If you look at the player base, I think for the huge majority of the player base the game is perfectly balanced between group play and solo play. There are certainly lots of players who are better off solo; not everyone has a huge friends list or even a clan. And then there are the top players who always want to create groups because it's more efficient. But to be perfectly honest, after all the crap over the past few days (cursed chests, mira runs, and whatever will be next) I don't give a rat's ass about these players. They are the 0.1% that seem to not care about the game, they are just looking for their own race; the stuff I see some streamers doing right now could be considered as "bug hunting" in beta but right now it's just ridiculous. I don't care if these players *have* to find a group, as long as the game is an awesome experience for the other 99% - and in my opinion it absolutely is. -

Freedom of Speech prevents government censure of speech given in a public forum. Nothing more.Quote from IamDiabloQuote from KwShinigami
It may be since the really really 'most players' have been banned from D3's forums for voicing their displeasure since launch.. so best to say 'most players that are left who do not bother Blizz too much'
I concur with both of these statements. I was perma banned from Diablo 3 forums because I expressed my freedom of speech telling them what they are doing wrong and how they are ruining the game. The first silenced me then they perma banned me 2 offences perma ban pretty sad really but I don't care they cant silence the mass's that are flooding their forums as we speak about their ignorance.Quote from Hjelpen
I dont like the fact that Blizzard really feels that they need to tell us how we should play the game. As soon as someone on twitch/reddi/diablofans finds something it will instantly get nerfed because that is not how Blizzard want us to play. D3 have none of the freedom that D2 had. -

Looks like that's a resounding "no." I thought you did a great job of staying patient and trying your best to actually explain the argument/situation at hand, Daisy, so thanks. I also want to say that I think the cursed chests are a nice challenge, but I've been able to clear the 2-3 that I've found so far (albeit on Torment I), so like the way they are currently tuned.Quote from daisychopper

Let me guess, you're an action house warrior or play on a difficulty that provides you no challenge whatsover? The thumping your chest you are trying to do really isn't impressing anyone though. -

Doez posted a message on 2.0 finally here. What are your impressions thus far?I found 3 upgrades for my WD and 1 for my barb last night, and a legendary belt that was sort of a side-grade. What I like about loot 2.0 is that these drops make me ponder swapping out a build to try something else out. I'm a zombie bear whore for sure, but when you start getting +% to abilities on different pieces plus all the other cool stats, it's worth trying something new!Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Overall, the gameplay feels different, but I greatly enjoy it. I appreciate the assets loading faster, so I'm not dying from my PC freezing up as it loads everything for the first time. I like the darker feel, paragon 2.0, and pretty much everything else that has been delivered to us. My least favorite thing about yesterday is the spectral hound vanity thing. It just seems out of place. -

Zero(pS) posted a message on Why I am (not) buying the expansion"All the drops on the AH were from players."Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Nope, bots can id and sell items too.HC also has a ton of bots. Some famous streamers were known botters and managed to garner a couple hundred million from those every week/month.
All this conversation is pointless either way.
It doesn't matter where the items came from, the fact is for the majority of the playerbase (which doesnotplay the game 70 hours/week) the AH serves only as a way to remind them how far behind the power curve they really are. And how only those who play the game 24/7 and bots/botters (as well as those who pay real money) are the ones with the slight real chance of getting the really good items. It is also argued this fact influences drop rates, so the whole "ignore it, doesn't affect you" mantra doesn't really serve in this situation.
Whether you can accept that or not, it's your own choice.
Either way, you'll have to deal with the fact the devs have already had this conversation probably for a couple hundred hours and made up their minds a long, long time ago. -

Zero(pS) posted a message on "A" Dev did not know about lvling 0-60 in roughly 15 minutes...Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I've played it at least 28 times (7 characters, 4 difficulties), maybe a few more. Only 4-5 of my 12 characters were powerleveled, the rest went through the most enjoyable experience that is leveling a new character, using different skills and progressing at a natural and pleasant pace (gear wise).Quote from Narmoniarkh
100% of the players here already finished the main story at least 2-3 times and are not willing to waste any more of our time on doing it.
But yeah, powerleveling has been present in almost every ARPG and people always thought it was an ok practice. Does it really matter if it can be done in 15 minutes or in 2 hours? Maybe (powerleveling in hardcore is quite an intense experience btw). Should the devs put measures in place to "limit" how much xp someone can get instantly? Again, maybe.
Should it be called an "exploit"? I hardly see a reason - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

What is this bullshit? Am I on the Official Forums all of a sudden? Come on man, I've read your posts; you're above this kind of garbage. And if you're going to be a neanderthal about it, at minimum don't call someone else "ignorant" and then misuse a word like "insinuate." I insinuated nothing; I directly stated that people who don't want to play on the ladder don't have to play on the ladder. You even quoted it! And it's a fact. Whatever the actual system turns out to be, there will be absolutely nothing forcing you to make a ladder character other than your own desire. Which is perfect, because that's the whole point - to use your desire for awesome items to get you involved in the ladder.
Anyway, your whole rant seems premised on the assumption that the ladder-only items are intended to be some kind of patch-type fix to what you (and some others) perceive as a problem with the existing itemzation of the game and are therefore entitled to as a matter of course. I don't see the ladder-only items as being an issue because I don't agree with that assumption. I think itemization, while imperfect, is pretty good, and I see ladder seasons and ladder-only items as a natural extension of that system.
The whole game is based on replaying the same content over and over while hunting for the specific items you want. Some find them quickly, some find them slowly, some never find them at all. Yes, I'm at the point where I d/e most legendaries I find, but I understand that's a function of the progress I've already made in the game. It's not the catastrophe you make it out to be, and even if it was, why would I want them to just add another few items that might be upgrades, and I'm back at the same point again after a few drops? That's not a long term solution.
They've already said, the WoW tier model where new content with new gear comes out every couple of months can't be sustained in D3 because there's no monthly fee to support the effort. So, ladder-only legendaries makes a lot of sense to me. If I want Torment-only gear, I have to play in Torment mode. If I want ladder-only gear, I have to play in Ladder-mode. Different sets of items, different rules, consistent logic: the better the items, the more replay it takes to get them.
Complaining that you want a unique class of items designed and implemented for a unique mode of play, without having to play in that mode, doesn't make any sense to me. If you think that current itemization leaves much to be desired, you're entitled to that and you'll have no trouble finding people to agree with you, but that has nothing to do with the ladder and ladder-only items.
Such a ham.

Yeah, because the official forums are just a hotbed of rational discussion.

You're totally ignoring your entire play experience up to this point, where players don't run into a single issue you describe. That's totally intentional - the last achievement is the hardest.

So you haven't had any set items drop, except for the set items you've had drop. Got it.
And you haven't had any legendary items drop, except for the legendary items you've had drop. Okay.
Looks like it's impossible, man. If only the monsters had a random chance to drop items when you killed them, and you killed a whole lot of them.
Somebody's gonna make a lot of money when they figure that one out, let me tell you.

Anyway, as a former Paladin fan I was excited to see how they'd bring back the staple Zeal, and unfortunately it's misleading as written and I'm not level 47.
Is it really just 5% IAS (1% x 5 stacks?) or am I (hopefully) misreading it? I mean, Frenzy is like 75% once stacked, isn't it?

No, it hasn't. Diablo I didn't even have a trade window. In Diablo II, you could trade, but plenty of people didn't. It was an aspect of the game, and may have been a lot of fun and very important to a portion of the player base, but it didn't change Diablo from an action RPG into a trading game.
Have you tried it? The ability to trade legendaries with people you played with is really nice. Thanks to Smart Loot, you're going to use most of the legendaries you find until you're farming at 60/70. When you get to that point, the trading possibilities are so limited that people will actually strike deals with you.
Maybe. But I think that it would still have held them back from really being able to give players a good drop rate. If every player in the game is finding a legendary every hour or so, the market is still going to get flooded and players are still going to spend more time in the AH than in the game.
I love being able to check out what cool stuff my friends found while they were playing. It motivates me to get into the game and see what kind of cool stuff I'll find. Furthermore, clans give you a group of cool players to join up with the find and share items together. No, you can't have the items they found without you, but that's the whole point - you have to play the game yourself. You can, however, play with your clan mates and share items you find together, which is the whole point.
Bots aren't the only reason for BoA. As I said above, it's there to get you to actually play the game if you want cool items. Being able to trade with people you don't play with undermines that, because it gives you access to items without playing the game, even if they are in a clan with you.
Join a cool clan, get friendly with the members, roll with them, and share items you find together. That's the point of clans.

I assure you, I understand the OP's point completely.
You're approaching the problem as if it's binary - i.e., you're either good enough to get the bonus chest all the time (and the rest of the content is too easy) or never good enough to get the bonus chest (but the rest of the content is challenging) - and that's not the reality.
You can play on challenging content, fail to get the bonus chest most of the time (which is where it seems the OP is), rise in power over time until you can get it all the time, and then sure, you might decide to move on to the next difficulty and you'll be back to failing to get the bonus chest most of the time.
But that doesn't mean the bonus chest needs to be tuned down; it just means you have to keep working until you can handle it. That's called progression. It's the entire point of the game. Hence my response:

Sorry to barge in, but I think this is a really interesting discussion.
I think a big part of the problem is the ultra-social gaming world we live in today; I fundamentally agree that a negligible exploit is, well, negligible, but that's so much more rare than it was in the past because today that shit gets downright *broadcast* the second it's discovered, and becomes widespread. It's much harder to say "live and let live" because there was a time when exploits would be relatively unknown and for the most part, people would just play the game.
As Bagstone points out, you get a couple of really influential members of the community who make a living playing the game, and a big chunk of the community follows in their footsteps. As an old man in terms of gaming culture, I'm shocked at how often I see streamers cited as some kind of authority on how the game should be played. I understand the mentality, but it's just way too pervasive.
And then those people turn around and pan the game for being broken. I used to watch Kripparian's videos and think to myself, "Well of course you have these complaints, you've played the game for several thousand hours. You need to go outside." But then you see other players with the same complaints, and they're like paragon 30. It's just toxic.

Oh good, you've decided to call me names and make baseless assumptions about me. And here I was worried we were in danger of having a discussion.
Anyway, the difficulty I choose to play on isn't really relevant; I do try to pick one that's challenging, but that's a subjective call so I can't really compare notes with you. If I had to try, I'd say I won't play on any difficulty where I can kill monsters in 2 hits or less. It just isn't much fun that way.
For what it's worth, I'm about 50/50 on the bonus chest. The biggest factor seems to be my loadout; if I'm not using a build that stacks a lot of AoE skills, I usually only get to wave 2 or 3.
So are you going to respond at all to the possibility that your skill/gear setup may be to blame for your lack of success so far?
