we won’t be ready to announce all of our projects

    Well, this could mean:
    1) Community manager is trolling.
    2) They show only D4 teaser/cinematic without anything else from D4 and not announcing its genre/gameplay etc.
    3) They announce D4 and show gameplay as we predicted - this then leads to what? They are making Diablo World parallel with D4? Hitting both the aRPG and classic MMO genres with different games, but parallel story? Or going for next gen VR MMO game?

Could be any of these. We need more clues - that Adria comic coming soon?

I feel like the blog posts directly indicates that any kind of D4 announcement will be just about the only thing they AREN'T going to announce. A cinematic for a new game and gameplay I think is wishful thinking. But I'm looking forward to any news and comics, etc. :)

posted a message on Future diablo 4 Ideas. what do you think

Diablo at its core has always been an ARPG dungeon crawler with heavy emphasis on item hunt. It would be a risk to deviate from that original model, but the culture surrounding those kinds of games has changed. I'm hoping to see a nice heavy ARPG element with that item hunt still present, but I really want set items and legendaries to change, I want runestones, and more build customization, I want to explore more zones and meet new characters and get good character development, and I want a creepier atmosphere.

Act V Reaper of Souls was heads and tails above the vanilla game in terms of characters, exploration, writing, and spookiness, and even the new zones were really interesting and creepy. It felt more like an M rated game. I want more time to explore and flesh out zones with things to do (questing perhaps?) I don't want an MMO, but I'd like a similar kind of experience, only with single player. I guess a bit like the Witcher, tho that would lose the top-down look of a dungeon crawler.

I'd love to see less quest driven dialogue that beats us over the head with telling us where to go so much that we could go through the motions asleep. Having to think for even 5 seconds about where we are, what we're looking for, and where we should be going would be an improvement. Diablo 2 never had a blinking yellow circle on the minimap telling you exactly where you needed to go. D3 was a little too linear with leading you through campaign by the nose. Also bosses were always too easy, normal mode was too easy. I think there was too much emphasis on making the game too accessible for new players. People aren't stupid, they can learn new things without it being dumbed down.

I'd be incredibly disappointed if the nephalem became an evil character, and I'd also be incredibly disappointed if everything was retconned. I LIKE the characters, I LIKE my characters, and I want them to do well. Making us choose between good and evil sounds lame tbh, because it's always been a game about maintaining the balance and fighting the minions of Hell. I don't want the characters I've grown to like to be forgotten, I just want them to be written better. I want the game to get a great lore treatment like so many of the diablo novels did.

This got a little long lol, but I'm very passionate about the characters and world, and I want to see more of it, and to see it handled well.

Edit: I personally don't much care for PVP, but I want it to be added to the game because I know a lot of people missed that. Also I think D3 still has a lot of cool end-game content that should stay, but some that needs heavy revision.

Quotes and direct reply don't seem to be working for me BUT-

I haven't played D2 in at least a year, so I see how some hints would be easy to miss, but I'm hesitant to be 100% sure about anything.

I like a lot of the possibilities brought up here: I'd love a D2 HD release, and I'd love an open world type of game, the only thing I want is for D3 to tie up its loose ends, which will hopefully be done with a DLC.

I'm cautiously optimistic, because we've been burned at every blizzcon since Reaper of Souls and Necro, but very hopeful that this time they're actually serious with some announcements lol.

posted a message on Next Diablo - What do you believe in?

I don't like the idea of an MMO as it will likely be "good nephalem vs evil nephalem" or something similar, and I think that is an extremely stupid idea. If they have a different plan for "sides" or just no opposing sides other than heroes vs the burning hells I might be inclined to give it a chance. I also honestly doubt that Diablo has the same universal appeal to be a successful MMO and I believe that Blizzard knows this. Warcraft was successful because it could draw a much wider audience. Horror has always been pretty niche. I don't think they'll take the risk.

A darksouls/open world type of game in the Diablo universe I would absolutely love, but I have a very strong suspicion that they won't do this. I also find it a bit unlikely that Blizzard will deviate from the core concept of the game which is dungeon crawl/item hunt.

It's a bit late for an expansion, and to keep up with the indistry tthey need to use a newer game engine, so I think we'll be getting a new game. Hopefully a sequel to not scrap the established characters who have unfinished stories. I really hope they get better writers, as Reaper of Souls was better executed than the entire vanilla game. No sublety, dialogue was very bad for bosses, game isn't even a challenge unless you start on expert, everything was made to be "epic" so nothing actually felt like it was, for an M rated game it felt rather childish, too much dialogue that was basically a vehicle to explain extremely easy quests, not enough character development for Leah, a blinking yellow circle on your map made it easy to find everything, you could be asleep and play this game.

I really love this game series, and I want it to be good. I hope Blizzcon will pleasantly surprise me.

posted a message on What NEEDS to be different in d3

They really need to update the PVP in this game. It's just weak AF. I get that D2 is broken through all the hacks but PVP was way better there.

You main a Necromancer bud? Because this thread has been dead for years.

lol, But yeah I agree, they never really implemented pvp like they promised, and while I'm not personally interested in PVP, I know a lot of people are, and I AM invested in a franchise I like having longevity.

posted a message on D4 classes

If we were getting an expansion it likely would have come 2016 or so. Diablo 3 isn't technically old, but it's "old" by industry standards. A new game is more likely than an Expansion.

I hope they continue the story and keep the characters, and I'd like to get druid class because shapeshifting would be cool to see re-done. I also really want a return to a more M rated game feeling. Yeah there's corpses and blood flying everywhere, but nothing really felt scary or dire, or monstrous. There needs to be subtlety and horror.

    Quote from Inuendo90

Any reasonable mind that have even a minimal videogame development understanding know that we will get new classes and prolly a new xp and that d4 is not even imaginable before something like 2022+ if will ever exist.

While new class is likely, I have lost my faith in a new expansion as the game is 6 years old.

Then again, a huge graphical and mechanical overhaul could be enough to sell an expansion to masses. Wow has had significant graphical engine updates with expansions. It's possible they could do the same for D3 in order to spare the huge work of doing everything from the scratch like inventing 5 new classes and 4 new acts.

Sure, players who dislike D3 hate the idea of continuing with D3. However, Blizzard knows better how masses react and those who play the game through only once.

    I agree that there's prolly no D4 before 2021.

Well, here's the thing. WoW is actually still making them money. whereas D3 isn't. So imo, little reason for them to make another expansion as D3 has taken to long to improve at all (which caused it to lose the majority of the playerbase) I'd say the more reason to make D4 or whatever it'll be called. Not saying this will be soon or anything (that's just hoping). But it's a way to have sort of a fresh start and possibly get back the playerbase it deserves (and hopefully release a more complete game from the start on)

Idk, if anything will revive a playerbase, it's new content. A lot of people came back to play Necromancer, and that was just one class. WoW does have a subscription, which D3 does not, but D3 made its money on volume of copies sold, and D3 Vanilla sold 12 million copies. They aren't really hurting for money, but I think it's possible that blizzard will try to introduce some sort of long term income generator (loot boxes or something similar?)

posted a message on My theory about the ongoing diablo development

The only thing that keeps the expansion/new act/new game hope alive in me is that it has never before, to my knowledge, been Blizzard's M.O. to scrap hard established characters and story lines from previous games. Yeah they've messed with canon in games like Warcraft, but not to the degree of scrapping. It seems like most people (or at least a vocal group) don't want an expansion, and just want a Diablo 4 while pretending D3 never existed. I find this pretty unlikely.

It's certainly a bit late for an expansion, but I'd be happy to have one, but also think it's FAR too early to expect a completely new game because they would have to start over from nothing and build from the ground up. D3 isn't "dated" looking by any means. I don't claim to be any kind of expert on game creation or design, but they have tilesets and textures they'd have to scrap and begin again, and after already putting in all the work, seems a bit early to toss all that away. I'm confused why people think it already needs a graphics upgrade.

I feel like there is more evidence for a remastered Diablo II then there is for Diablo 4, but again, I'm still hoping for an expansion (with better writers) because I'd be disappointed if the story line and characters that have been set up for us never reached their conclusion.

EDIT: a friend of mine who is in the industry gave me some interesting perspective on how quickly games have to develop to keep up. I was under the impression that companies with tons of money had more luxury of time, and while this is true, we likely would have gotten the expansion 2016/2017 if they had intended to do one. So it seems D4 is more likely than an expansion, but I'm still suspicious about remastered D2 :)
