If you and 4 friends got the gear to clear t6 as if it was t1, then by any means dont bring a pp monk because its clearly not needed. But 99.9999999% of players in t6 arent decked out in perfect legendaries like you. I have played with and played as a support monk, and I got no issues with spirit, and cleartimes are improved. You can theorycraft all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that a zdps/pp monk carries its weight and improves any group.
Spirit is no issue with permanent epiphany and the legendary helm The minds eye.
You know what is the real problem of Diablo nowadays? People thinking that DIII is WoW.
Diablo is not and mmorpg where you need supports to progress. I bet they would do 200% better and faster with full Jade set equipped WD throwing 20mil DoTs here and there.
You never played with an ep pullmonk right? A well geared support monk toss out like 40k healing on each partymember nonstop, buffs the damage of the teammates thru the roof and helps big ways with ep to keep up a high killspeed. There is a reason why ep gets nerfed/redesigned. But anyways.
BTT
If you have troubles with peole in pub games either votekick them or leave yourself and join a new game. And there is always your own friendlist, clan or communities to find people to play with.
I'm not saying that there is no "support" builds around, I'm just saying UNLESS you are going under-geared for high torments in HC(but then another question occurs: why do you do high torments rifts without proper eq? Ain't it better and faster to do lower rifts but much faster?) this monk will never be better than Leap Barb or Jade WD or Pillar / Kick monk. It just won't. It may seems like there is a need for one ep pull monk in the group because when you play with him you need to compensate for the lack of DPS with some kind of support and healing.
What is the need of healing when you can kill the monsters before they can actually hurt you? Or they can't hurt you more than a health globe / potion is able to heal?
cheers.
The part i react to here is "this monk will never be better than Leap Barb or Jade WD or Pillar / Kick monk. It just won't. Itmayseemslike there is a need for one ep pull monk in the group because when you play with him you need to compensate for the lack of DPS with some kind of support and healing."
This right here is complete crap. What that PP monk brings to the table is:
Immense damage from EP (When 1 mob with it dies, it takes with it other mobs with EP making a chainexplosion killing everything in range)
Control and gathering of mobs for easier aoe damage, making every aoe skill in the game you are in more efficient
Percentbased buffs for damage.
30% from inner sanctuary
20% from exploding palm
20% from mantra of conviction
The cleartimes of rifts is greatly increased when you got a support monk with barely any paperdmg at all in the group, and thats a fact!
Thing is, if you are grinding for a specific item, you're not going to have any fun. Make the best out of it and accept the item as a bonus if it drops. Kadala is just a bonus chance to "snipe" legendaries, not a vendor for you to get any item you desire.
Cheers! As with most builds, specific gear is needed for it to really shine. I currently got 3 parts of the akkhan set, and is hoping so much for the shoulders to drop so I can atleast get 2set with this build.
It just keeps linking here for some reason, tried to replace the link, tried to fix it in bb. Dunno why
Will add a longer vid later today, of doing a rift or something. This was filmed mainly to demonstrate quickly what was going on.
"Torment 3, oh wow, other classes does that easily!" I know.
But the current state of this forum makes the Crusader look like a noodleswinging papertank that barely is able to do torment 1. And I wanted to show that with the right gear you can do fairly well.
Trial and error
Been trying out alot of builds and gearsetups for crusader lately, including fist of heaven fissure ith Schaeffers hammer and Lightninghammers. And I found the first too demanding to play because stacked fissures didn't seem to make use of the rune, and the second just wasn't as efficient as the firebuild I was running.
The build
The build I have found most efficient for me is Burning Hammers with Condemn Vacuum and provoke Charged up!
This (very geardependant) build is absolutely melting T1-T2 and does really well in T3. Haven't really tried T4 yet because i feel my toughness is a bit on the low side at the moment. And toughness is something i consider one of the major issues at this time.
The video is filmed without Blunt and Finery passives, and with those the damage on the hammers increases to around 7m-7.5m crits.
The skills Slash (Crush) - My wrathbuilder, don't use it much due to hammers costing 7 wrath with cindercoat. Crits for around 3.5-4.5m
Blessed Hammer (Burning Wrath) - My primary spender. I know hammers is something that makes most of you throw up in your mouths, but its the most effectiv skill for this build. And it works really well.
Provoke (Charged Up) - My extra damage skill, and the extra damage it does is significant with firewalkers. Basicly it does 50% weapondamage extra as lightning on EVERY damage you do, and it really adds up with Hammers, the pool of fire the hammers leave behind, thorns, Fire Walkers and everything else I can't remember at the moment.
Laws of Valor - Critical - Do I really need to explain this?
Akarat's Champion (Rally) - Damagecooldown, 50% chance of reducing cooldowns by 1 sec. Tends to make the other skills more spammable
Condemn (Vacuum) - I use this to pull mobs into my zone of destruction. Works really well paired with Provoke.
Paragon Points
I'm not really sure if what I do here is the right thing to do, so I would really appreciate feedback.
But here is what I do: Core - Movementspeed to 10%, rest in strength Offense - Crit hit dmg maxed, rest in cooldown reduction. Don't know if its better to swap them around. Defense - Resist All maxed, then Life regen. Armor if you already got decent regen. Utility - Area Damage maxed, then Resource cost reduction. Again not sure if it is better to swap them.
Useful Items
- Maximus - Gives a demon with firechain and fire damage.
- Magefist - Fire damage.
- Andariels Visage - Fire damage, recommend getting one where you can roll blessed hammer damage without sacrificing too much.
- Cindercoat - Fire damage, reduce cost of firespells by 30%
- Legendary neck with fire damage, str and crit
- Legendary bracers with fire damage, str and crit
- Fire Walkers - Burns the ground you walk on for 100% firedamage every second. Works really nice with this build
- Lidless Wall - Fire damage
- Stone of Jordan - Fire damage
Please let me know if there is any items I should add to this list
What I have learned so far:
- Blessed Hammer damage on helm and boots is a must, it makes a HUGE impact.
- Vacuum + Charged up + Fire Walkers = Massive dmg.
- Fire burns!
- Stone of Jordan and Lidless Wall are really mythical items
