they wouldnt do "research" with a franchise as big as Diablo. toying with that fanbase would give them more to lose than the profits of that specific "research".
your arguements are ridiculous.
Of course, Fing. Why would a company that revenues almost a billion and a half do a silly thing like throw less than 2% of that at a project not necessarily intended for release? Even if it provides a means to attract and retain some of the industry's best talent, while keeping them from working elsewhere, and helps keep millions of fans on the hook to the brand and playing the real cash cow all the while.
Even though your country is having some economic problems at the moment (as is mine) I'm sure that when new leaders like you take over, things will change for the better with this kind of thinking.
No need for implication, Akuma, when you can't bother to dispute the substance of the material I clearly linked. But I would never call someone "stupid", or accuse them of trolling, because they can't do the basic math of adding in projected box sale #s to last year's 1.2 bil using the most recent ATVI #s which were clearly linked. I leave the personal attacks to others.
My problem with you is that you are way too arrogant, dude.
I know, Akuma. That's why you focus on personal attacks and contribute absolutely nothing to the discussion beyond this. Sorry if the idea that research and retention of talent has value is tough for you to grasp. I never said that the game won't be released - just that it was a possibility. Also, there will be no moment where the game "does NOT come out" - anymore than we're already at that point over nine years later... you can't disprove a negative. Work on the logic, big guy.
you are basing everything on some imaginary facts that exist only in your head and me and everyone else is basing everything on stuff said by Jay Wilson himself. Oh, wait, I forgot you know more than Jay Wilson...
Actually, I linked to cold, hard numbers from a public company, while you haven't used a single quote to support any of your statements - despite Jay interviewing for at least a few hours a month ago.
You have, however, used the term "troll", "coward", and "idiot" a few times.
(and yet you don't want to take a simple challenge)
Actually, I did - it took me about three minutes to back up the numbers I was putting out there. How long does it take you to do the same with a quote from Jay relevant to the discussion? And why wouldn't armor design and implementation be a portable skill to another kind of title? Like, oh, I don't know - are there other games with a paper-doll armor system?
As for your challenge, I already tried to explain that you can't disprove a negative - there will be no point in time when the game isn't out. Much as ghost was never officially canceled.
I know that some of these concepts are challenging, but I wish you good luck!
Actually, most of the debate was 2011 vs 2012 vs 2013. Make it March 2012, and I heartily and happily accept your challenge. Or are you the страхливец?

right, a game that's in development for about 7 years, been completely scrapped and started over hiring new people, has some of the best professionals around in their area is just "a research project" wasting millions just to keep the programmers from being hired to other companies (lol). and many many Diablo fans arent into WoW (if you were on this forum around 2006-2008 you'd know better) and either never played or stopped playing (me included). WoW will be kept alive a little longer through the new battle.net with Diablo III and Starcraft II. i explained it too many times.
i've been in sales for a while to know what sells and what not. i know that Diablo II sells even as we speak while the WoW sales have substantially dropped over the last couple years. i also know that the game card sales have also dropped and the retailers are trying to lure customers through lower prices (without much success).
I also know that awesome new action RPGs are coming later this year and early 2011 and that WoW will loose subscribers to them (cause as you said "why pay every month when i can have a good game to keep me for a good while paying only once?"). Diablo III being released as soon as its done will help Blizzard cut their losses and generate some more profit on the long run.
Those millions of fans that are on the hook for Diablo III (you're right, they're there) will be pissed off if they indefinitely postpone the game as they did with Ghost, which was a very different (and new) kind of game.
and even though i havent studied economics to help my country in the current situation, i managed to pick up quite a few things working in the videogames sales.
PS. good thing you decided to quit this thread cause clearly you got nothing useful (or that simple makes sense) to say. God help the next thread you decide to troll.
Well I think people won't give up their favorite MMORPG over a single player game, no matter how addictive it is. Many single player RPGs were released and sold millions of units when WoW was out already, such as Morrowind Oblivion, Kotor, Fable etc. yet this didn't turn out to be an end for WoW. No matter there is a mp option, Diablo has always been a single player PvE based game and won't offer much for PvP compared with WoW. Your theory is a good one Gheed but you simplify it by assuming all players will go buy Diablo and stop playing WoW completely. There are many people out there that won't even play Diablo because it isn't a MMORPG. I think it is much or less the same with SC fans.

Diablo hates Jay Wilson.
Diablo thanks God for creating obesity and ugliness.
Was I wrong? If I didn't get what you said right, then what made you think that releasing Diablo would affect WoW subscriptions?
"All" is ridiculous. My point is that stripping off even a quarter or so is bad business. All of my posts are easily accessible, and I never edit more than a half hour or so after posting. Anyhow, like I said, I'm done with this thread.

Uh, no... I mentioned that in terms of the "secret MMO". And I'll stand behind that date for that project.
Anyhow, Malachi is right, I'm done with this thread. Good luck, Akuma, you'll need it.

You're right, and I apologize. I'm glad you found the links informative.
