Hello, I created this topic because it spiked some thought into my head when I read the news and information that has been posted by various members that have credit on this forum, as well reading about Blizzard and the information they release around the web.
I have theorycrafted for such a long time and would like to post my thoughts about Blizzard and the teams within it - I would like everyone to read this and then post some of their theorycraft,
Blizzard had some bumps in the road, but they are smoothing them out now.
Examples:
They had an RPG Team (Blizzard North):
The RPG Team has done only Diablo games (Except Warcraft Adventures)
They also had an RTS Team.:
This team appears to flip flop with Warcraft and Starcraft - Example would be Warcraft 2 + Expansion Pack, then Starcraft + Expansion Pack, then Warcraft 3 + Expansion Pack, then Starcraft 2 + Expansion Pack - Most likely after Starcraft 2 Expansion Pack releases, they will working on Warcraft 4 + Expansion Pack.
Also, they now they have an MMO Team:
World of Warcraft was first made, and you will most likely see Diablo, and Starcraft turned into MMO's as well in the future - just wait for it - the Next MMO will be one of them, and 5 years after that one will be the last. My opinion is Diablo the MMO will come, and then Starcraft the MMO will be released a decent amount of years later.
On to the main concern of this topic:
Blizzard North was the biggest road bump, and I will copy and paste what I said in my other thread:
"A few years back, about 2001, while Blizzard North was making Diablo II: Salvation, and started the work on Diablo III, Vivendi was going to be bought out by another company, Blizzard North wanted to talk to Vivendi about their future, and Vivendi refused and ignored Blizzard North. Many employees in the end felt bad about that and left.
About 30 of the 40 Blizzard North employees left, and the 10 that did not leave was moved to Blizzard Headquarters. Diablo II: Salvation was scrapped, Diablo III was put on the "Back burner", and Blizzard North was gone. This all happened years ago. (2001ish?)"
What this all means is, is Blizzard had to remake their RPG team starting with the 10 Blizzard North employees left, but this time it isn't Blizzard North they are calling it, it is just Blizzard (Team 3 wouldn't be Team 3 if it was Blizzard North - they would just say Blizzard North is making a title, and duh they only released Diablo stuff when they were still around)
If nothing would have happened with Blizzard North, we would most certainly be seeing at least an announcement of Diablo 4, or a Diablo MMO today, because Diablo 3 would have been released years ago. (2005ish?)
Since the team has been made back up, Blizzard will now continue the RPG teams work - which is Diablo. This is why Diablo has been gone so long (And the reason Starcraft 2 was not around sooner is because Blizzard said the RTS team was working on Warcraft 3 + Expansion Pack, and when they finished the RTS team went right to work on Starcraft 2, and it is obvious they are making a Starcraft 2 Expansion Pack very soon after Starcraft 2's Release).
Here is my predictions on all major products (Non- Expansion Pack):
Prediction: These will come out in order from soon, to later on.
1) Starcraft 2 (Seems to be going smooth)
2) Diablo III (Announcement at the WWI 2008)
3) Diablo MMO (Next-Gen MMO team is at work now.. but it could be SC MMO though)
4) Warcraft 4 (Lore continued where WoW left off, and would be worked on once SC2 Expansion Pack is released)
5) Starcraft MMO (Maybe SC:Ghost turned into MMOFPS?)
6) Diablo 4 (Lore continued where Diablo MMO left off)
Who knows how long it will take til all these games are made, but we are almost certain Diablo III will now be announced at the Worldwide Invitational in Paris, France, on June 28-29th.
Please post your comments and lets see what everyone thinks!
I wouldn't be so positive about a starcraft mmo, especially before a diablo mmo. Doesn't feel right.
I thought about it also - When I first created this post I was predicting a Diablo MMO first, but it just didn't feel right - but after thinking about it some more - I edited my predictions, check it out and tell me how you feel now
At the least, you can safely say that if either Diablo or Starcraft get a MMO, then the other is very likely to get one too.
Specific dates are so hard to predict though. I don't think it will all happen so quickly in a row though. But who knows, maybe it will.
Yeah - predictions are very hard - I tryed very hard to think about when they would come, in an order, then I through the dates - so the dates are pretty wack atm, but the order seems kind of good, right?
ignoring the dates, the order is alright. except, I'd say a Starcraft MMO would come before a Diablo MMO, because Diablo and Warcraft are both medieval, while Starcraft is futuristic. They are more likely to have a futuristic and a medieval at the same time rather than two medieval ones.
I don't think Diablo 4 would come out one year after Starcraft MMO
Edit: Matter of fact, None of your dates are resonable, Blizzard won't release another game so close to a brand new one.
I agree with you, it has been a year since the first WoW Xpac was released, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. There will always be like a year gap, atleast... you can't produce the quality of games that Blizzard publishes in such a short time... You do remember when they started work on SC2 right?? RIGHT?!
Since WoW is bringing in alot of money for vivendi, i believe that vivendi will do w/e it takes to support blizzard in making these huge money making games. None of that EA crap, same with hellgate, rushed and not polished coulda been an awsome game, but just completely failed...

I like the C n C game they made. COuld have been a bit better though, imo. Adding in the naval side of things could have made it SO much cooler.
But I prefer the original CC games... I don't know why... maybe I'm just a sucker for a classical game. xd

It comes out 2008, you were wrong!

You have to admit that he's good.
Hmmmm....
It could be awesome if done right.
