No it didn't, give me one shred of evidence where it is stated gothic buildings to be PAINTED on, maybe you can find something about gold coating or whatever, influenced by islamic architecture, or some statues, maybe. Maybe even some neo gothicism or whatever.
Well, you see here

Exactly, it's not gothic anymore at night, it's ORIGINAL.
2.new; fresh; inventive; novel: an original way of advertising.
It's original as in LAZERSSS as in NEW AGE as in MODERN as in NOT GOTHIC.
Yup. Exghoul whipped out an art history lesson that some people need. They used to coat cathedrals in all the gold and jewels they could back then. It was part of the philosophy that the church could create what it was like to be in heaven here on Earth. There was another philosophy that countered this one, but it was about being all crapped out and lowly - kinda like the graphics petition.
Exactly, it's not gothic anymore at night, it's ORIGINAL.

Huh? It is gothic.
Either way the argument over "what is goth lololololol" doesn't really apply when you dealing with fantasy. There can be influences within the fantasy if the game developer decides to but Diablo in no way takes place in a realistic gothc era.
Look, the game will be awesome. You know this. The game will probably look better than you think. You know this as well. What you don't know is "What make's Diablo more Diablo" than the creators of the game themselves, since you know.. they make the game. The whole "It will look better if it's just Diablo 2 with updated graphics" yelling and petitioning is getting old. You crybabies really haven't put forth an argument past "IT SHULD B LIEK DIS CUZ... we played Diablo 2 more than anyone else and we know what better!" It's all opinion. Sucks for you, most people agree with Blizzard I guess.

Well yea, it's gothic, but what I meant is that the laserzzzz add a modern touch to it at night so a night picture of this cathedral is not really a good exemple of what gothic should be. Anyway, I understand myself so it's ok, lol.

So first you're telling me how Diablo 'should be' then you're telling me how 'gothic' should be. No thanks, I'll take Blizzards viewpoint of Diablo, and historians' viewpoints on what the term 'gothic' refers to. You've totally discredited yourself here....

...I'm talking about the colors anyway, not the architecture, I'm saying the colors are MODERN COLORS lazerss, at night. So it's kinda an altered vision of gothic architecture at night.
If there wont be green lamps, just use one of these options:
- The best option is to light up the place with regular lamps and torches and add a cold, corrupt fog to prevent the comfortable feel. The place wont be dark but the fog will cover the warmness of the light.
There already is a fog. It's the blueish part of the dungeon that all those people are complaining about...
Creepsville,
1st: Cant see the green. Just something like ice or snow on the ground and walls which is a little light blue.
2: Thats not a dungeon, and i can see some green fog.
3: Its a cave not dungeon, and has lotsa moos.
4: Outsides. Theres just grass on the floor.
5: Im talking about dungeons.
You said show games so I showed games. And you said it had to be realistic so I showed a cave with greenish light. What else could you possibly ask for? When light bounces off things, or there is rot in the air, and the light is low, it changes all kinds of colors depending on the situation.
All of those where actually pretty irrevelant. And the graphics of FF XII look pretty MMOish and crappy.
Awwww. You're trying soooo hardddd. You never said anything abour graphics quality. You said games with green color schemes like the one in the D3 video.
Edit: Watched the trailer again, and the color kinda fits that place,
Alright Kenzai,...your arguments consist of telling me I'm ridiculous and that I don't understand my own language. Oh, and they also consist of how a game should imitate it's predecessors to the point where certain color schemes are NOT allowed.
I said like 92347 times that they may keep the green dungeon if they add the source of the light
Oh? Is Blizzard allowed by you now to keep the colors they want but in order to they must do certain things thought up by that genius mind of yours? Listen to how you talk "They should do this! They should do that! They are allowed to this only if they do that!." Who are you again? What do you do? Wow, you would think with such talent as yours and such knowledge of "WUT IZ DIABLOZ" that would have already applied at Blizzard and be working on the game....

Yeah that makes soo much sense, i cant believe how you figured this problem !!!
I said like 92347 times that they may keep the green dungeon if they add the source of the light (and make it actually look like light).
And i also said again and again that there may be happy looking colorful places as long as corrupted places arent too brightly colored and this is what you say:
When in the hells did i say that??? Just quote a recent post of me saying that and ill shut up.
(Unfortunately such a post doesnt exist so you have no other chance than accepting that you were WRONG !!!MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! )
(Sorry for colorful post.)
You're too into D2 to judge rationally. Your green lanterns remark is asinine because no one gives a shit if you can see green lanterns or not. The level works WITHOUT green lanterns from a game design standpoint, so in the end you are merely arguing a personal preference with no explanation to back it up other than "it's more realistic..." even though it's been argued that it is not necessarily more realistic.
What's funny to me is you want me to say I'm wrong about,...something...when you've been wrong on color usage, types of lighting and the mood it creates and you've been arguing that your personal tastes are more "diablo" than BLIZZARD'S...strange huh? Well how am I supposed to concede to your personal tastes...am I supposed to say "You're right. You know what's best for Diablo's lighting in one of the dungeons..."?
HA!
Look Kenzai, All of your arguments fall on preference of how you want things. Guess what, that differs from the preference of the people that made the games you love so much. The dungeons in Diablo 3 look great, they look cold, they look dark and evil. Maybe not to your liking, but your really in a minority as you have obviously fantasied what you THINK Diablo 3 should look like in that wee head of yours. You really can't prove any point you bring up because there is nothing to prove other than pointing a link to Dicionary.com for the definition of opinion... which I remind you, differs from the people actually creating the game.. the people you are saying are- doing things wrong. lol

I think blizzard will do what will please the general population of fans. And I really have faith that they'll do this and keep most people happy.
Keep in mind that the ones who are really pissed about the artistic direction are only a tiny percentage of the overall consumer base. They could literally say "Well, fuck your shit!" and ignore it altogether and not lose that much. But I think they have more up their sleeves, although personally I find very little wrong with the colors or lighting at all.
"If we're actually making the game worse with no other reason than to be different from WoW, then it's a bad choice. We don't think, when people play, that they'll have any problem telling that it's a different game.
The preliminary art we've seen so far, Wilson said, is from early on in the game. "We want to generate the feeling of everything getting worse... it's part of our narrative. It makes the more gloomy part of the game a place where the stakes get higher."
Improve but not make it black and white like the petitions.

"If you start out at the apocalypse, and then move to more apocalypse, it's not going to have much of an impression on players."
Improve but not make it black and white like the petitions.
Please differentiate between the people who signed that petition and the people who believe DIII may look better with a few improvements (such as realistic lighting).

Right. They can be GREEN!
K. I got these from NKlint so credit goes out to him.
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
Final Fantasy XII
Guild Wars
Lineage 2
A real cave...
And that's nothing...we could find all kinds of other games with the same color scheme,...and gasp! No GREEN lamps anywhere to be seeeeennnn!!!
It's just an artistic choice. It's not about attempting to imitate reality. It's about manipulating it. Shifting it into some more interesting.

The cave minerals are fucking green. That's their color. The gameplay video bricks are NOT green they are originally gray-white. That's the problem...
