I just spent a better part of 2 hours cleaning the inside of my computer and I'm tired. We are remodeling the kitchen so there is a shit load of dust all over the house for some reason even with tarps up and doors closed. I looked closely inside the computer last night and there was dust caked on the fans, hoses, cards, ex. I used Qtips and gas duster stuff. The Qtips were okay but they are about 4" long so it was hard to reach the back.
So basically my question is what do you guys use/do to clean your cases. I was thinking of getting a small vacuum to help clean. Are there any cleaning kits with small tools that would help? I really need something because my room is really dusty in general and with this remodel going on its crazy dusty. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
for cleaning pc you dont really need any cleaning kit, its mostly dust you are dealing with, no grease or anything. Just a can of compressed gas duster blowing, and your vacuum cleaner getting all the dust flying everywhere. Also the push-pull action on your videocard and fan slots.
Your regular vacuum clean will be fine as long as its got heads with a small opening. Smaller vacuum cleaners probably wont have enough force or pressure.
You could get some filters to cover open areas where you have intake fans. Shops have fan slot filters, there's also filter sheets, or just get some black pantyhose.
I use a painting brush that has long hairs. I just shove it into all of the fans and spin it and you see the dust flying off. It is best used with a hoover so you can catch all of the dust instantly.
Dust-buster, duct tape, and a long straw are my primary tools for keeping the dust under control. I don't like to get in there and brush things to get the thinnest layer of dust off (not worth the potential static hazard to me).
I always just took my computer out to the garage and used the air compressor to blow all the dust out of my computer. Been doing that since forever and never had a problem doing things that way.
Not going to say that Vacuuming would be bad, but if you happen to have a good one you could risk damaging the finer pieces inside. Not a big risk, but a can of air as mentioned should really be it, or two cans seeing your situation : D

What case do you have?
Been using it on computers and annoying coworkers professionally for 25 years.
