What losing arguments? And that isn't really an insult... I guess it just barely constitutes one by calling these people screaming police brutality douches, but that's more of just how I talk & not really an insult. Libya was an example, like... people are screaming bloody murder over pepper spray saying it's police brutality, they have no idea how NOT brutal that is. Look at countries like Libya (when they ordered the military to gun down & burn the corpses of protesters).
You are just a sweetheart.
I fail to see the connection between commenting on pepper-spray giggle and screaming bloody murder about police brutality. Had we been talking about Libya rather than the US, I'm pretty sure pepper spray wouldn't have come up. It sounds like you are desperately trying to connect my posts to liberal talking points (or at least, what republicans think liberal talking points are). That tends to fail since I don't toe the party line.
almost no one in america knows how good they have it. they dont know the genocide in 3rd world countries and the massive amount of racism/sexism still exists in the world. women are treated like objects and not even close to people in quite a few countries and there is heavy racism in many. people in america have gotten too complacent with life and i think russia/china need to start genociding america to get them to react and stop being such whiny pussies.
It's true. Americans have it good compared to the third world, regardless of what socioeconomic class they are in. Of course, that doesn't mean it should be taken for granted.
(I hit the last line and realize you were trolling. Damn, you got me again!)
So this is the kind of things where people like me, heavy downloader (I pay things too though, especially incredible games and movies to reward developers !) would just find a way to bypass it but Joe guy who doesn't download much would get a lot of things closed to him and give complete control over his internet and can't do anything about it because he is not tech savy enough ?
Right.
Note: Not living in the US I don't care that much apart from the fact that it is giving control... you know for future usage, china style.
now people say "those companies have ENOUGH money, were like peter pan, stealing from the rich and giving to... ourselves! )
your thoughts and the US on trying to ban piracy?
Don't you mean Robin Hood. He stole from the rich, and gave to the poor, so it would make more sense to refer to him. Peter Pan was the boy who never grew up. And he stole so people could survive, so that's not a very apt analogy.
I see piracy as a cancer. It kills creative properties, which is just terrible. You're not stealing a household object, or food to survive, you're stealing a concept, a thought, an imaginative idea unique to someone else. To me that's a most heinous theft that for some reason is overlooked by most people, as if it's not important enough to cause any stir.
People think it's fine when law tightens it's grip on crime, but they feel outraged when the battle against piracy escalates. I don't get that.
I buy all my books, games, films, music and comics. I am in no financial sense rich, perhaps falling just below well off. Moreover, I live in a Third World country with a crappy economy, so imports aren't exactly reasonably priced. To give you a rough idea, a new PC costs about twice the amount I get paid in a month, and then it's an alright PC.
Sure it would be easier to just pirate everything I want, but I don't gleam any sense of enjoyment out of doing the wrong thing, no matter how easy it is, or if I don't get caught.
As someone who work in a book store, I tell a lot of annoying clients who demand discounts, 'these are luxury items, if you can't afford it, then don't buy it'. You don't want to bother paying for a piece of entertainment, then you will survive without it, trust me, you will.
I think the crux of the issue is: this won't stop piracy and would have many more tertiary consequences than the bill's lobbyists are letting on. Read the articles against it. They aren't "hey, we just wanna pirate stuff so leave us alone." They are people concerned with the broader ramifications of the act, which would act as a spring-board for loads of international censorship online.
Moral of the Story: Never judge US bills by their cover. They are almost always designed to be misleading.

Oh yeah, that's very true. Sometimes they combat piracy in stupid ways that actually hurt legitimate users more than the pirates. DRM is a good example.
I just wish people would pirate less, or stop completely, then crap like this wouldn't be necessary. Although, I've heard a few people say they choose to pirate games, because it's a waste to buy them when you can just get them for free. People like that is all that's wrong with this world, and they make it difficult for the rest of us.

Some people will pirate a game to see if it's good, and then really enjoy it. Then when the sequel is released (and let's be honest, most games/movies have sequels nowadays) they actually purchase it because they know they're interested in the brand & concept. Piracy in that particular case, MADE them money as opposed to just not getting additional $ that they wouldn't have had to begin with.
The SOPA issue just got brought up by Stephen Colbert tonight. Millions more people now know the government is trying to control the internet and muffle creative expression. I hope this helps people push the issue that this SOPA bill is WRONG! Woo-hoo thanks Colbert!

I have two options where I live.
Option 1: Sudden Link, which sucks.
Option 2: Smoke Signals, which sucks even more.
I guess you could say I have choices, eh?
Lol...

Stop Online Piracy Act
There's no official word on it. I'm just confident it won't ever see the light of day.
Ah, I thought you meant like, you saw a news report that said it bombed.
I doubt it will come up for a vote, tbh. It looks like the kind of bill that will go to committee and die the slow and horrible death it deserves.

I hate piracy, always have, always will.
That way it can die a 90-10 vote against it.
It'd make me very happy.
