Actually... with the way things are now, people in many places have an understanding of the things that sorround them but not the people sourrounding them. I think too many people are concerned whether they are "right" or "wrong" instead of just being. I think one of the most powerful statements is this: "I am." and that period is very important. When you say i am [period] your giving yourself something very special - a sence of timelessness, which transends all eras you see your not saying im a programer which would fall under the info era or i am human which says you havent evolved. Very few people can truly say "I am." and know who they are and why that is so. Its actually kinda like the matrix.. your not here to make the choice, thats already made, your here to understand why you made it lol.
So untill people learn to say "I am." and why they are that way... i doubt we will ever understand why anyone else is the way they are.

"Always respect the purity of battle. For only in the heart of combat are all pretenses of nobility and quality stripped away, replaced by survival and death."
part of me agrees with the original post but i have to say that politics is very much a part of human nature... I mean take for example a conversation at a convention (say in the field you work in) as the conversation unfolds you begin to make desicions as to who really knows what they are talking about, and those are the ones you tend to listen to more. No matter what you do in any kind of society there is going to be politics... all you need are players and an audience and that only takes three people... even in a family of three... (father, mother, child) there will be politics.
Ultimatly the question that stands is what is the point of life... and it comes down to masslows pyramid... very few reach that top where they give back to society; however, this point can be reached with or without religion and that just says religion doesent stop or help people get to that lvl 1 civilization. Infact if there had to be a norm such as no religion or complete dominance.. i would say that is actually a lvl 0 civilization cuz humanity has still in that situation not learned to live with its differences.
