If they were equally as evil, why did they have to seperate, making it easier to pick them off, 1 by 1? Is that because it makes solo play possible? Or could there be some sort of motive behind the plan???
I've always viewed Diablo as a single playergame that just happens to have multipler.
All the NPCs say hero when referring to you, not heroes, NPCs in BGII do make notice of the fact you are traveling in a group and refer to you specifically if you are soloing, this does not happen in Diablo. It's alwaus "proceed Hero..." It is good to see you again hero..." even if someone in your party is standing right next to you, and has just gone through everything you just did.
Diablo is at its core, about the lone hero taking the forces of Hell.
Final movie for D1 is a single character putting the soulstone his his or her forehead. The epilogue movie in D2 is a single hand smashing the soulstones, no other persons or part of another person are visible.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Also, of the 3, his name is the only one that is an actual name for "The Devil", "Satan", "Lucifer" whomever.
As I said before;
-Baal is another name for Beelzebub, which is another name for Lucifer, which is another name for Satan. The most evil creature.
-Mephisto is derived from Mephistopheles, which is another name for Lucifer, which is another name for Satan. The most evil creature.
-Diablo is spanish for devil, The Devil is another name for Lucifer, which is another name for Satan. The most evil creature.
But that depends somewhat on your source of course. Mephistopheles and Beelzebub are often seen as a different demon from Lucifer or Satan.
Yet, Beelzebub (Be'elzebub "Lord of Flies") is originally the name of a Philistine god, but is also used in the New Testament as a synonym for Satan.
So you can go either way with that.
The Prime Evils are top dogs when it comes to evilness, neither one of them truly out ranks the other two. Mephisto is seen as the most senior one and that may led people to believe he is the most evil, yet Baal is the most destructive, he will often take great enjoyment in the killing of humans (and possibly his own minions too), Diablo is well more the "star of the show" and that may led people to believe he is the most evil, plus there is that really awesome quote about his powers of terror.

But they are the Prime Evils. Prime, derived from the latin word Primus meaning superior, best, first. I'd rather Blizzard not go in the, for lack of a better phrase or word, the Dragon Ball Z route. every 5 weeks someone stonger than the supposed strongest bad guy in the world shows up.
I like having the Prime Evils as exactly that, the Prime Evils.

God and Satan (or any other name he is known by) do not exist in Sanctuary, despite the fact Heaven (The High Heavens) and Hell (The Burning Hells) do.
And I think that's good. I don't mind having biblical references in Diablo, but I think it's cool that the angelic and demonic Hierarchies are structured differently from Judeo-christianity.
Diablo lore states the Prime Evils were born out of chaos. and destroying their soulstones sends their essences back the the black abyss where they came from.

Though with the Prime Evils all being male. and not having a mother, then by the above logic, err somewhat, then wouldn't Lilith be the most evil? She is the mother of demons.
But as this thread primarily concerns the Prime Evils, I shall get back on topic for a second.

Ok that was kinda lame.

But I must say, the girls here are all cool. I haven't had any problems with any of them.

That is just my thoughts, though I will say, Mephisto appears to somewhat be the leader, but that does not necessairly make him the most evil.
Their mother is probably the most evil being ever in existence.. I can't even imagine..(that's not sexist its.. profiling..)
They didn't have "conventional" births. they were spawned out of chaos, like all truly bad ass demons are.

Prime Evils. key point, Evils. To me that would led me to believe as far as being the most evil being to exist the all come in first (Prime) equal.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hierarchy_of_devils Lists them as seperate as seperate entities.
