Azmodan is the Lord of Sin
Cain from Cain and Abel can be considered the first mortal sinner for killing Abel.
Also, Azmodan has already shown that he does not support Diablo by throwing him out of Hell along with the rest of the Prime Evils, and Cain refelcts this same disdain for Diablo.
Again it's possible. But of course Cain is going to despise Diablo, he's human. I imagine any human would share his same disdain. Comparing Azmodan to Cain is a little extreme just because they both have problems with him. As for the whole biblical connection... I HOPE they don't go down that path.

I just don't see it man... But you've got a really good argument.

I read the lore on Cain, and I found it kind of strange how self-lothing Cain seems throughout the entire journal. Assuming that the journal was a personal one and not meant to be read by anyone, I would say it does not support my idea. But if it was meant to be read, then it could be a thought out piece of mis-information meant to conceal his demonic roots.
Again, I'm just playing the devil's advocate here because I think that a cinametic where Cain goes from a hunchbacked old man with a cane (no pun intended) to a badass demon would be intense!
I honestly don't think that a personal journal would be mis-information... just doesn't seem feasible to me. But I gotta agree the scene you described would be intense.

think about it. who has pushed the hero to do everything that has progressed the story? Cain. So then, who is responsible for the Worldstone's destruction? Cain. So in essence, the hero, the prime evils, and Tyrael are pawns to Cain.
My ideal story would have Tyrael be a big baddie in D3, and then Cain turns out to be the primest of evils in the expansion.
Can I have whatever you've been smoking?
Interesting theory, but I don't see it going that way.
