Safest place where I live is a corner store, oddly enough.
Yes, odd place to go, but they sell everything.
And I mean fucking everything.
They have food, guns, swords(I have no idea why, apparently they're in high demand in rural Canada), furniture, hell you could probably even get hookers there
I don't even know how they cram that much shit in that store... it's like a fucking vortex in there. -

Magistrate posted a message on Diablo II, Battle.net, and Cheating- An Iron Fist or Empty Promise?Today, Blizzard has recently posted on the online client for Diablo II a blatant charge against cheaters and hackers of all types and sizes, promising higher standards and a scrutiny to out-do what in years past has been nothing but a laughable, vague shell of enforcement:Posted in: News & Announcements
Quote from Blizzard »Wednesday, May 20, 2009
Blizzard Entertainment feels very strongly about cheating over Battle.net. We Believe that multiplayer cheats and hacks undermine the basic rules of fair play and weaken ansy sense of true competition and online gaming enjoyment. We would like to remind everybody that the use of any third-party software in conjunction with the game to modify Battle.net and/or change game play may result in account closures and a possible suspension of access to Battle.net. Third-party software may include, but is not limited to any program that allows you to run multiple instances of the game at the same time, cheats, hacks, and/or bots. To continue our agressive stance on cheats/hacks, we will be monitoring Custom games as well as Ladder games on Battle.net.
Some important questions arise from this. In light of the recent announcement of patch 1.13 for Diablo II and the fact that one of the main focuses of the patch is player input, something on the top of every player's mind is Battle.net cheating, hacking, and security. For many years, most of us have done nothing but laugh at Battle.net and Blizzard's meager attempts at establishing any form of control over their free internet play client. Now, it seems, things may be taking a turn for the better.
Does anyone believe that this may, in fact, be something more than an announcement in light of current goings-on? Could something of value in this respect be coming with the impending patch 1.13?
It would make a lot of sense, seeing as Blizzard has announced also that the patch would be tested on a private testing realm:
Quote from "Bashiok »Some exciting news - and it also may be some comfort - due to the types of changes we're making we will be offering the Diablo II 1.13 patch for testing and feedback on a [color=red]test realm[/color'] before its release. We'll have more information about how you'll be able to help test it in the coming weeks.
(Source: http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18744.)
Something of this nature would be best done in such a way, especially if they are wanting to clean up players' acts on Diablo II and want to effectively cover as much ground as possible to stop hacking and cheating.
What are everyone else's thoughts on this? Could this really be Blizzard taking the first real stance in their fight against cheaters in nearly a decade or is this just another blast of hot air? Will this be something to be implemented in patch 1.13? -

Morden79 posted a message on Respecs can be expected (confirmed, i guess)I am in no means expecting Diablo 3 to be everything I wish for. Actually, thats kind of a lie, I really just want Blizzard to make the damned game so I can play it however they decide to make it, but other than that, no. Instead, I tend to try to get in to the shell of the diablo 2 developers. I watch the art, watch the interviews, read the blue posts, and decide for myself what I think Diablo 3 will represent. By trying to get in to the skin of the animal, I better predict what I think Diablo 3 will turn out to be.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I am not trying to tell you that you are wrong, simply that I personally feel you are looking at this process all wrong. Blizzard doesn't hope to make a new Diablo 2, they hope to make Diablo 3, a much richer and exciting game with more dynamic gameplay and features that reflect the industry standards that Blizzard feels work well in many games, whether they made them or not.
Diablo 2 was a game that forced you to figure out a very specific talent style that really worked. Diablo 3, as Blizzard has mentioned AND shown to us through interviews and game play demonstrations, will be all about making the game fell how you want it to feel, even if you messed up and want to go back and change something. THAT is why they are implementing respecs, not because they feel it is some ackward band-aid fix to rushing, though in a sense respecs does fix both issues. The biggest issue of Diablo 2 was merely that it didn't reach out to enough players, which they are trying to improve on with Diablo 3.
While for some, respecs may seem like a burden to this game, I assure you they will play into the game just fine. I think it is safe to assume that EVERYBODY on the Diablo 3 developing team plays video games, even if a few of them tend to stick to Blizzard games. They know the industry, they know the game style, and they know what works for everyone and makes games like this fun. THAT is why they want to give us respecs in our new Diablo. -

Mephisto's Lament posted a message on PoliticsGuns don't kill people, people kill people. I've never seen a pistol fire itself and kill a person. Saying that guns are responsible for all the mayhem would be like saying that spoons are why Queen Latifah is overweight. Instead of banning the method, work on preventing the tool (pun intended).Posted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo)
The thing that annoys me a lot, is Americans complaining about the president they've elected, shortly after he gets into his position. Why did you elect him to begin with? It's because they always vote for the guy they disagree with almost entirely because they disagree with other guy more. Before reaching a satisfactory, competent president (and I'm not saying that Obama is, I've yet to see enough of him to judge him. I'm not optimistic, though), Americans would not only have to change their fundamental ideals about what the government should and shouldn't do for them, but also about what they should do for themselves and each other. It's easier for someone to pick the clique they disagree with the least and ride that bandwagon to their own demise than it is for them to think for themselves. The desire, however subconscious it may be, to become a part of something larger than yourself is universal. The same basic things that divide people politically also divide them economically and religiously. Namely, fear and comfort. People sacrifice knowledge for comfort and freedom for security, all along not realizing that the road they've so willfully taken is the same road they fought to avoid; and thus the cycle continues and public opinion changes ever so slightly from one dogmatic ideology to the next as history is forgotten and only nostalgia remains. So quit any complaining, because at this stage, it's premature and misplaced. Both parties didn't strike me as appealing, charismatic, or competent. At least, not enough to consider either side worthy of taking the pedestal.
Sorry if I missed some points discusse din this thread, I just skimmed through most of it. -

Posted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo)Quote from "Equinox" »It's a consequence of the current structure of the economy that you just have to accept. Calling our economy a "problem" is like calling capitalism one. It's not going to go away or disappear. It is there to stay. Just as the national media numbness.
And I am not sure why you quoted me with that humongous long post. I don't really want to talk about US and China.
It's a passionate topic for me I know much about. I accept the dollar will eventually will fail, as have all debased economies throughout history. This scenario has played out again and again over time. The reasons are often different, the result is always the same.
Look at this short and incomplete list of monetary carnage
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation#Examples_of_hyperinflation
I'm not blaming capitalism, I'm pro capitalism! I believe the banks should have been allowed to fail and that a correction should be allowed to correct. Today we can't properly valuate many investments because of Zombie banks and all their undead toxic assets. No investor will touch the banks with a 10 foot pole because of this. You should want to talk about China because they are funding our deficit spending, all this stimulus we hoping will pull us out of our fiscal mess is coming largely from China. A lot of people are dangerously ignoring the risk of them pulling the plug or us defaulting on our obligations.
It is a dollar crisis and a foreign debt crisis, a result of living beyond our means for most of 38 years and Reagan did much to get the ball of debt rolling. I'm saying Obama has people on board who helped create the mess, as did Bush 43, Clinton, and Bush 41 etc. Both parties are at fault. Yes the economic crisis is not going away soon, this is why I wrote a long winded post, because if people want to come out of this then understanding the problem is paramount. Obama will not fix it, he can't. It's global because everyone pinned their currency to the dollar, the only reason the dollar has done well is because people are panicking and fleeing to the default currency, not because of any strength the dollar has, because they don't know where else to go. That isn't going to last.
So what can you do, make sure you place your money in things that will hold value where the fundamentals have not been impaired should the worst be realized. Well I mentioned who I am listening to: Peter Schiff, Robert Kiyosaki, Jim Rogers, and Marc Faber, that is a bread crumb trail any one concerned should at least investigate and see if what they are saying makes sense to you. BTW, what I am saying is basically what all these capitalists are saying, they are among my sources. I hope for the best but I plan for the worst, it's not hard to imagine the worst, we are pretty close to it now. A long winded post, yes I have been hammering about this topic for the last 3 years on other boards and was called a nut for saying a crash was coming based on what I was reading by Republicans back in 2006. Today I am called a pessimist by many Democrats for not getting on board with Obama's financial plan despite having voted for him for other reasons.
My message is simple, educate yourself on finance and money, the rules of money are changing, anyone clinging to old ideas is going to get wiped out. Read what I am saying, then do further research and decide if what I am saying is true. Don't take my word for it, check my sources and then compare it against those who believe the opposite. For 3 years I have been trying to wake people up on this topic, and I will as long as I can. -

Siaynoq posted a message on The Best Diablo ServersI used to have this theory, and bear with me while I explain this. Most people already understand that D2 fans are a relatively obscure group of gamers who have a sometimes strange sense of loyalty to this game. Many of us are also walking encyclopedias of D2 and understand all the lore, game mechanics, and character builds out there. We all kind of know we're a little weird and sheltered. We hate elves and orcs, and love Diablo for not having any of those things. Especially for not having gay ass dragons in our beloved franchise. We even play Diablo 1 from time to time because it's still a great game and we'll never forget all our wonderful memories associated with playing it.Posted in: Diablo I & Hellfire
Among many other franchises, the Diablo community is regarded somewhat as a bunch of mutants. But let me tell you about a strange group of sub-mutants that the average D2 fans have nightmares about. These are the darkest, greasiest, AOL-est, weirdest bunch of Diablo fans you've ever heard of.
I'm talking about the Diablo fans who are still lurking in basements somewhere and playing Diablo online via a dial up connection and calling other people's computers using their phones. These people still log on to AOL and constantly ignore the prompt to upgrade to AOL 6.0 Today! They all covet a Staff of the Apocalypse, and an Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac. From time to time they hear rumors, whispers, of a possible sequel to Diablo 1. They suspect it's just some ZMud trolls playing jokes on them. Their vast connection of other Diablo 1 players would have alerted them immediately of a Diablo 2. And the notion of a Diablo 3 is laughable as their opponent's weak ass Elemental spell.
These people are even unaware of the energy drink craze. The one that is sweeping the nation and ensaring WoW players into a high blood pressure workout minus any real physical activity. These people actual make coffe like drinks. But not any kind of good coffee. It's those powdered Internation House of Coffee flavor coffees that you just add hot water too. This is what they're drinking to stay up all night. They still manage to have a supply of Red Ropes even though the rest of the world finds those extremely hard to find. Now it's either simply Red Vines or those Red String ones that have the six strands of licorice around the center piece.
These guys occasionally take a night out to meet outside a Dee's restaurant, smoke cigarettes, and debate the usefulness of the Golem spell. Later they will simply go back home to their parents' basements, get "online" with their telephones and pray no one picks up the phone while they are playing. For shits and giggles, they even play Warcraft 2 just to laugh at how inferior it is to Diablo and think to themselves it's no wonder they never made a Warcraft 3.
I think this guy, ladies and gentleman, this guy right here who made this thread, is one of those super elusive sub-mutants who accidentally reached out to a community that exists in the future. Is he dreaming? Is any of this real? He does not know. He is frightened and lost and out of Red Ropes.
It's all that, or we're just experiences a language barrier problem. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I live in New-Zealand, Maoris are always going on about their 'Mana'. Everytime one mentions it I think of Diablo and Warcraft and a Maori casting a spell
Elfen knows what I'm on about
As far as the GUI with the demon\angel guarding their orbs. Hopefully Diablo III shows different borders for each class
Druid could have a werewolf and a raven guarding the orbs with vines around the borders
Necromancer could have skulls and bones around the borders, skeleton/golem thingies guarding their orbs
You can see what I'm getting at

Do you play USWest Softcore Ladder?
The Arreat Summit for all Diablo II infomation you need, including what chipped gems are used for (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp)
Mercenaries mana steal doesnt give your character mana, but theres a 4 socket polearm runeword called Insight (Ral + Tir + Tal + Sol) that gives level 12-17 Mediation aura for alot of extra mana regeneration if youre a sorceress
People usually make Insights onto Ethereal Colossus Volgues because Mercenaries dont take up durability
Insight can be found somewhere on this page here at Arreats Summit
