Feb 24, 2007AcidReign posted a message on The Final Diablo 3 is Coming argumentWoW may be cartoonish, but it has to be to be able to fit the entire world and items and spells and stuff into it as well as making it run as smooth as it can for the majority of users. Graphics aren't important as long as the game has excellent gameplay - which WoW has.Posted in: News

Likewise. I'm going to be playing games the rest of my life, and I'm going to try to stick to Blizzard. They have proven to me they work hard and make quality games for EVERY franchise, and that really gains my respect. Sure, they are slow and frustrating at times, but they always make up for it later. I've been waiting for Diablo III for years, but I've remained patient for many years up to now.
Diablo II for me has now gotten old. I've seen it all, and done it all. I want something new from the Diablo franchise. I want more monsters, more items, more evil! I started boycotting Diablo II at the end of 2006 until the announcement of Diablo III. -
Feb 17, 2007AcidReign posted a message on IGN posts about Diablo 3 FateDiablo III seems to have more rumors circulating about it around the public. Perhaps the fans of Diablo III are more enthusiastic. Diablo is a game that has vast replayability, but replayability gets old in 6 years. Every godly build has the same equipment, same skill builds, same everything - which gets boring.Posted in: News
StarCraft II is being hinted more strongly by actual employees at Blizzard, but nothing (if anything) has been leaked to spark major rumors. StarCraft, being very popular on Battle.net, it has tendencies to be less boring because there are new maps all the time, and every move you make is different than the last, depending on your opponent.
However, if BlizzCon were to be held tomorrow, I'd expect both games to be shown there. That would be the "MAJOR product announcement for 2007". -

If the Necromancer were to have minions, they would have to be unique enough to separate him from the Witch Doctor's. Sure the Witch Doctor can summon a few minions, but the Necromancer would have to be able to summon armies of minions. Perhaps even static minions, similar to sentries from the Diablo II Assassin.
Perhaps the Necromancer would have to become a more physical class, getting closer to enemies than the Witch Doctor. Maybe new curses could make the Necromancer into a formidable melee class (scythes, anyone?). What I'm imagining, is an undead taskmaster, leading his army into the waves of demons, with himself on the frontline.
Sure, it might be a little controversial to change the "sit back and cast" class into a "lead your minions to victory" class, but it would have some interesting mechanics to it. Plus, everything in D3 that has changed from D2 has been pretty controversial - but seems to come out fine in the end. Why could this not be true for the D3 version of the Necromancer?

You and me both, brotha.
Half the time, I played in private games all by myself in Diablo II

I believe problems developing Battle.net 2.0 sort of pushed back StarCraft II's release date, so lets hope they have learned from their mistakes this time

But anyways, you could purchase a Guild Hall (for a hefty sum) and you could choose from a variety of different themes. I think it would be cool if you could do the same in D3 - however, you could customize you're own area. From initial purchase, to customizing it, it would cost a lot of gold.
Perhaps that would maybe drive the value of gold up? But then again, should you be allowed to get a Guild Hall if you just have a lot of gold? No - you'd probably have to do something else to actually earn it. Like have 25 guild members beat Diablo III on Hell mode or complete all Guild Achievements. Something else besides gold would have to be earned before you get something that prestigious.

That is a great question. I'll have to ask. I know that Corpse Spiders is just a zombie that bursts out of the ground and spews spiders out. So that's not really a tag-a-long pet. But the others I'm not sure about.

You're the kind of person we need in the beta, though! Otherwise all the WoW fans will get in instead and give their opinions <_< The Diablo fans need to make sure the game is a true heir to the franchise. That Diablo III lasts just as long as its predecessor!
Trust me, I feel the same way you do, but I need to get my hands on this game as if I'm going to die before the release. Which is entirely possible. As with you. And everyone else. But if you live to release without spoiling it, and playing the complete final version; then you my friend, are my idol. You are someone I cannot become because of this sick addiction that has corrupted me. Damn you Diablo... I love you!

As do I. I felt that even when you were in a party in Diablo II, and you wandered off to kill monsters, you could hold off just fine by yourself. This seems like something they want to avoid in Diablo III. Which should make Hell difficulty live up to it's name.
