Its a overall loss. Without Helm for Breath of Heaven your spirit is fucked. Unless you have 100% FD uptime you can't even pull it off and run out of spirit. Also moving between packs is really aids without Breath.
I spent all my time on FnR and my friend spent all his time on that setup you see there(its basically old Static Monk setup) and it proved to just win overall. Sims say FnR / Hellfire is better but thats with 100% FD uptime which is not ever happening and its by such a small margin.
Survival will be fine when you actually have single res on every item. Old static monk did GR 93 before the GR dmg nerfs with hardly anymore damage reduction. GR 93 is now equal to GR 139. Go down from 139 to say like 110 and its almost 60% less damage from 139 to 110.

Jamoose posted a message on Ladder vs Non-ladderPosted in: Diablo III don't know how accurate the information here is but this is a list of differences between ladder and non-ladder: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=55109923
basically, it's a bunch of runewords, unique items and cube recipes that exist only in ladder. Usually, players on NL are already very rich and have all the gear they need so they won't be looking for actually making a Grief RW for an example, they can just trade for it. Also, item selling websites are much cheaper for NL than they are for L so that's another way to get everything very easily.
The thing about NL is that it still has very old items like bugged eth tal armor for an example. Items that no longer exist, or exist but in a different version. Those items are typically very expensive and the average Joe will most likely never get his hands on them.
I personally played a lot of NL throughout the years because i had an amazing account with like 8 fully geared characters with sick gear and decked out with charms. I even had 1 self found 40 life pb sk (so proud of that, still...lol). But if i didn't have that account, i'd probably play more ladder. I used to refresh that account every once in a while so it won't get deleted but i kinda forgot at some point so i lost everything.
Ladder is a lot more fun to start fresh either with friends or strangers from random communities. There are some communities that are still active like d2jsp or Slash-Diablo but they usually tend to be a lot more active around ladder resets. Slash-Diablo has its own server i.e it does not run on b.net live and it supports certain mods including the resolution mod afaik. There were some issues with the latest version a while ago but i don't know if they fixed that yet or not.
The spam is still rampant and annoying. the best way to avoid spam is to create games with a password. Even if you start a random game and some random guy joins to play with you, offer him to join you in a new game with a password so you can avoid the constant spam bombardment. If you played it a year ago then not much have changed since then.
Today, i think that the most fun ways to play D2 are when you limit yourself in a certain way. Kind of like all of those iron-man challenges that people used to run. Like, playing a game where you try to finish Hell without using runewords or using only rares or whatever. Trying to go for weird builds like a sword-weilding amazon or a singer barb. If you don't mind single player, then it's far superior to b.net imo because of the smoothness of the gameplay, never suffering from bad latency or "realm down" crap if you create and leave too many games, too fast.
A really fun (but expensive) build to run is the GF barb. Gold find barbs are so hard to gear for but are so damn awesome and rewarding... Something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGko9SFzTww - but for some reason this dude is not using leap to knockback the mobs. Anyway, D2 is full of weird and awesome stuff.

A run with no additional completion requirements; anything goes. The "default" category for speedrunning a game. The term comes from the old school Metroid speedrunning community. Metroid has a percentage counter, while other games may not, but the term stuck around.
http://www.speedrunslive.com/faq/glossary/
Most games are any% these days. 100% would be if you finish every quest and don't just skip the optional ones (like Bloodraven). It's not popular in most games, and especially not in D2. -

If i link the d3planner, are you willing to try it for the lulz? No guarantee of it being better, but i think it's viable.

Bagstone posted a message on Cool video Diablo 2 vs Diablo 3Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionI'm sorry, but I have to disagree with almost everything in there.
First of all, what he doesn't say in his "OMG they closed Blizzard North" statement is that the "3 key people", Brevik and both Schaefers, had left Blizzard North in 2003 already (yes, just one year after the development started - though it conceptually even started a bit earlier). So Blizzard North was already sort of dismantled for two years and Diablo 3 going nowhere when they closed it.
Second, the video starts by telling us that Diablo 1+2 sold 6.5 million copies and then quotes Brevik that his idea would've sold well. To be honest, Diablo 3 already has a cumulative number of 30m sold copies, almost 5 times as many as "his" earlier games. He, on the other hand, has produced basically nothing since leaving Blizzard. I worship him for the amazing games he created, but I don't like that he's just going around and giving interviews everywhere, trashtalking Diablo, but if he would've done such a better job, why in those 13 years since he left hasn't he created anything like it? Anything at all that recreates the feeling he's missing from D3? It's not really good style to talk about your former employer like that, and it's especially strange to do it when you have nothing to show to back up the claim that you would've done a better job.
The rest of the video is pretty much the typical story and "darkness" rant. He's comparing random D3 campaign areas to CS and the Throne Room... really? Please compare Westmarch to Lut Gholein and tell me which is darker. Also, he's complaining about the lack of Tyrael's post-Diablo speech, but probably forgot that that was moved into the cut scene. I'm not saying it's better, but it's really comparing apples and oranges. I agree overall that the story of D3 wasn't as good as D2/D1 (actually, I think it was really rather weak), and of course I agree like everyone that the way Cain was killed off was ridiculous. It might've as well been an accident while cooking pasta. Nevertheless, his assessment is very subjective and oftentimes not fair.
Another thing that makes me rage is the class comparison. "A wizard is just a wizard and casts spells. A paladin in Diablo 2 has a variety of different playstyles, such as being a smiter tank or casting holy spells." Holy crap, what a piece of BS? Let me turn this around: "A sorcerer is just a sorcerer and casts spells. A crusader in Diablo 3 has a variety of different playstyles, such as being a thorns tank or casting lightning spells. Or having an army of Bowmen. Or searing the enemies with holy fire from above. Or ride to Valhalla on his horse. Or pulling mobs together in a group." Seriously, are you kidding me?
And of course I expected the "no trading, boo-hoo" rant. This is just so ignorant of the history of trading in Diablo, and all the explanations of Jay Wilson, Josh Mosqueira, and others. We've been there, done that, the AH killed the game, and it's good that it's gone. And trading with it. I'd kill the fun for all my friends if I'd just hand them full sets and ancients when they come online.
I'm gonna have to watch some cat videos now to calm down. What a piece of....

Hey guys! Build:
Tal Rasha MANALD HEAL GR90+ (NO Archon)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHr20WIb56s
First of all i would like to thank Cratic for insane amount of Manald Heal tests during 2.4.3 PTR. You guys go and check his channel, he has cool Electrocute speedfarming builds as well! Thankfully, i had to do MUCH LESS testing during PTR because he did all the major stuff already, like testing proc rates and gear interactions.
https://www.youtube.com/user/Cratic1321/
Now for the build!
So far it is the BEST non-Archon build i've ever seen. Even though it's based on procs, it has high damage potential and GR90+ is not a big problem to clear for most players at the end of the season. Cratic cleared GR90 at 1087 paragons. I cleared GR88 without a single death (see the video) at p1400 with mediocre gear. I believe this is the HIGHEST DPS non-archon build in existance!

it's pretty weird though that this guy posts just these pictures.. for the last 4 years.. on a diablo forum. I checked and his last diablo-related thread was in 2012.
