Mar 19, 2010Jarhead89 posted a message on Sons of OhrAs one of the original members of this site, I was there alongside jetrall to witness the rise, and fall, of SICK. I was there when it was created, when it expanded into the legions, and when it collapsed again.Posted in: News
The times we did have with SICK were glorious, and the slow death of it was even more so. Something which once had us clocking up 20+ hours of Diablo 2 a week, now resides in the sites archives.
The core members of SICK are long gone, and only a select few of you, including jetrall, know who i am speaking of. I wish Jetrall the best of luck and hope to join his venture sometime soon. -

Aug 25, 2008Jarhead89 posted a message on Diablofans - WWI Card Tyrael Pet ContestSuggestions for TradingPosted in: News
- There needs to be a stable currency. High runes were the main currency in D2 (and earlier on, SoJ's), and it was quite difficult for your everyday player to obtain these items. Gold definately needs a more important role in d3. The game should FORCE the player to embrace gold as the main currency and wealth, rather than items. It should be used for EVERYTHING.
- Keep item tetris! This is one of those little things that you took for granted in diablo 2, but it was one of those things that made the game awesome in its own way.
- Enable players to trade more freely without the need to constantly create games specifically for the purpose of trading. At any one time on diablo 2, 90% of the games infront of you were for trading. Provide an auction place, a market of some kind, that can be accessed no matter what game you are in, be it your first time playing or in the middle of a run of some kind with friends.
- Make some items bind on pickup/equip. It can completely change the way trading works, and will eliminate the age old d2 problem of items being the absolute currency.
Suggestions for PVP
- Team duels need to be encouraged. Diablo 2 PVP was 99% of the time all about 1v1. Team aspects can be very fun.
- Allow duels to take place casually as in diablo 2, or at various battlegrounds/arenas/areas that are specifically designed for PVP.
- Offer rewards and incentives for those who excell at PVP, as well as some kind of ranking system. Some prefer to be top of the ladder, but some may want to be the best player killer out there.
- Allow game creators to choose the way PVP works in their particular game, ie: both parties must consent to a duel before it can commence, or players can become hostile with anyone they want, whenever they want. This eliminates the problems caused with ganking, but also gives players the option to live life on the edge.
- Allow PVP to be possible in hardcore, if there is hardcore, without players dying permenantly, eg: have a player automatically surrender when they reach 1hp. Because hardcore players might like to duel too.
- Official PVP tournaments, with titles/rewards given to the top players in their field. -
Feb 11, 2007Jarhead89 posted a message on Diablo and Blizzard General Trademark activity!true...but what i mean is the 'frostmorne' trademark is just as new as that new diablo trademark...i dpnt see anything to do with a 'world of' or 'warcraft' trademark.Posted in: News

Feb 11, 2007Jarhead89 posted a message on Diablo and Blizzard General Trademark activity!I think there is a MASSIVE giveaway that d3 is around the corner, not sc sequel.Posted in: News
My main reasoning? and i quote: "Frostmorne - Replica weapons, namely swords and daggers; sword scabbards; sword belts"
Now i dont know about you blokes but that doesnt sound like something from starcraft. It sounds like...oh...DIABLO WEAPONS? IN CONJUNCTION WITH A NEW DIABLO TRADEMARK?!?!?! :D:D:D -

I have characters on US-West ladder AND non-ladder for D2LoD, would gladly play with people if they were on more often.
As for WoW im on Destromath (Horde) and Lightbringer (Alliance) but refuse to play it due to lack of people to play with.
Its the age old sad situation of i played by myself til i got sick of it and now i dont want to play anymore.

Lol
If it wasnt for Metallica, Trivum wouldnt exist. Metallica are their biggest influence, and Trivium are well known as the biggest wanna-be Metallica out there. Go figure.

Thats exactly my point!
I honestly do not give a fuck about anything except for their music.
Arguing with goodguy has no end. He talks shit until you just cant be fucked arguing anymore. Ive learnt this in the past and its no different now.
"You want to support an artist, go to a show" - I said that.
"Random Guy: Did you hear? Metallica rapes babies.
Jarhead: Who cares? They roxorz." - Its actually more like "Who cares. Their music is fucking awesome." I never talked about their "character" or whatever bullshit you talk about seeing in drug dealers and teachers. I talked about their MUSIC and them as a BAND. Not as individuals.
"None of my points have anything to do with their music at all" - And thats been my point all along. We talk about their music, you talk about everything else.
"You retardedly obsessed fans take everything personal and get defensive over your band like they are a part of you" - Im getting defensive over a band because i like their music, not because i disagree with what your saying. Your attacking a band that i like, and at first i think you are referring to their music, but your not, so here we are.
"You mean nothing to them" - Me personally, no, but their fans as a whole, fuck oath they do, cos if it wasnt for every single one of us they wouldnt be rich and famous and successful. Its just like saying you mean nothing to all of your heroes, you mean nothing to your favourite bands, sportspeople, actors, pornstars. Im also ignoring the fact that you personally mean nothing to nobody at all.
"Keep that in mind when you are telling everyone how awesome Metallica is and how much they care about their fans" - I dont know if you have noticed, but all i was doing was telling everyone how awesome their MUSIC is. It was only when you said they were "a bunch of sellouts who dont care about their fans" that i retaliated, because god forbid i defend something that i like.
The fact is, i posted a thread about a band, and their new album being leaked, and your arrogant enough to come into a thread with people praising Metallica, and talk negatively about them. What the fuck did you expect?
Im defending Metallica, the band, and their music. Im not defending James, Kirk, Lars and Rob as the individuals they are.
0
Honestly, who the fuck are you to say who are sellouts?
Its all opinion.
Murderface has been spot on, so im not going to repeat everything he says. If i want to download their shit, i will, and if i like it i will support the band by buying the album in a few days, which i will. If you like a band, if your happy with the music they create, you show your support by buying their album, by paying to see them. So what if they make a fuck tonne of money...means they have a shitload of fans and a fuckload of great music. Why do bands succeed like Metallica have? Because they are good. For gods sake they are the best metal band of all time, and thats widely accepted by fans and professionals alike, and you can never take that away from them, no matter how much shit you talk and no matter how much you cry and whinge about the napster bullshit and money and being "sellouts".
Define sellout and show me how it applies to Metallica.
The fans out there are LOVING the new album and it just goes to show Metallica actually sat down and said shit, lets really try and give them something awesome. You wont find many bad reviews on Death Magnetic, let alone any Metallica album besides maybe St.Anger. Its good shit and yet you judge them by everything BUT their music. Just put the bullshit aside and listen to the music, then come try and tell me something bad about them based purely on their music and nothing else. Who gives a flying fuck about how much money they make, or what legal battles they decide to pursue, they are a band, not a company, what they do outside the studio and the live shows is their own business.
In the end, your pointing out flaws in a band and nobody gives a fuck what they are, because the music they make is so good i honestly dont give a shit if they fuck up. You try doing something like they have for 27 years and not making mistakes. In amongst death of band members, drug and alcohol problems, having wives, kids, families. And yet they still kick fucking ass. Go figure.

I thought he was WAYY older. At least 25 or so.

@Zoltrix - I cant really decide which album i like better between tba and dm, i spose the reason tba is a little off is because it took metallicas fast paced thrash metal sound and slowed it right down, complete with drop d tuning, and a drum riff that is exactly the same in every song but just sped up and slowed down.
@Murderface - i 100% agree with you
@Thas - rock on! \m/ :thumbsup:
@goodguy - honestly, theres only so far money can take you. They would have had enough money years ago to last them a lifetime. If they continue to sell millions of albums and have sellout shows which people rave about, then why not continue. And who cares if they make money - im happy to give it to them for what they have given me, fucking awesome metal up your ass! If they toured for the paychecks, they wouldnt have awesome shows like they do. For that matter, you could bring your bullshit argument up about any band. Bands tour, bands release albums, bands make money. What makes metallica so different?

They been around for 27 fucking years. Asif they dont care about their fans. They have won grammies, they sellout every concert they ever announce, they have sold millions of albums and have millions of fans in countless countries. They once toured for 1 and a half years non stop. And you say they dont care about their fans? Stop hating and go listen to the new album. If you still think they are sellouts, provide me with a SHRED of fact or logic to support your bullshit claims. And dont you bring up that napster bullshit.
@Num3n
Metallicas first 4 albums, Kill Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice For All, will always remain their best 4 albums, and some of the best metal albums of all time. Having said that, out of every album to come out SINCE those four, the new album Death Magnetic is the best.
