At the risk of being unpopular. I hated watchmen. :(

I was so psyched about it and I didn't care for it at all.

posted a message on i hate quests.. explain why you dont?
While I do like questing to some degree, too much of it feels like work. Not to mention the quests that give you crap rewards (I'm looking at you WoW...)

I want a game that can analyze the stuff I have on me and then say "Hey, she just spent an hour completing this quest and she has level 5 gear, and she is level 6. Lets give her level 8 gear so she can use that until then.

They just have to remember to make the level 8 gear better than all of the gear level 5 had to offer. Know what I mean or does this make no sense? lol.

posted a message on What kind of boss do you want to see?
    - Some boss battles that you can use strategically to tip the scale in your favor, like gaining higher ground. I don't mean RTS, but think of the battle in the room where pippin knocks the bucket down the drain. Remember the ledge and columns that surrounded the room? All destructible and awesome!

    - Lots of dust and debris flying around and the rooms get trashed.

    - When the monsters yell, shake the screen

    - Bosses that have limbs that can be hacked off, yet they continue to fight while blood pours from the gaping wound, leaving trails on the ground in the monsters wake.

    - Two words: Undead Dragons.

    - Boss battle that have less to to with click fests (that's what the rest of the game is for) and more to do with taking opportunity when they rise

    - Some how give the fights meaning. I want to feel as though life or death hangs by a thread. I want to feel emotions such as fear, terror and surprise while also feeling moments of triumph, success and happiness not only at the end of a battle but during the battle.

posted a message on What to do until Diablo3?
Some of my geekier friends have been trying to get me into D&D. I liked what I have played so far but I want to be the dungeon master. The other day I was in a book store looking at the 4th edition DM guide (I think) and a players handbook. I asked the clerk there what I needed to get started in learning to DM, but he wasn't very helpful and kept looking at my chest.

I hear 4th edition is fun and easier, so that's what I was looking for. I love writing and I think I would be good at it.

So that is a project of mine until (and even after) D3 comes out.

Other than that, I've recently played COD 5, SF4, Fable 2 (sucked) and Ninja Gaiden 2 on my 360.

I also watch a lot of movies (tonight even I watched Twilight - <3 Edward!!! and Transporter 3.

Today I picked up the Diablo Archive and started reading it.

posted a message on day/night cycles....
I hope the nights are dark, as in, you can only see realistically based on the moon and sky above you and what conditions they are. For example, Full moon vs no moon, cloudy vs clear, stuff like that.

As for the weather effects, I hope they feel... epic. Like, real bad thunderstorm with wind and thunderous lightning, vs the weather in wow, which is pathetic. I realize in wow they have to consider the type of game it is (mmo vs 8 to 16 players per game) but wow's weather was/is awful in my opinion.

hmm there are a lot of 'vs' in there....

Haha, it's cool, it's cool. It's also nice to see another, dare I say it, girl on "teh internetz". Or at least here on our forums. Glad you're here :D

    Thanks Magistrate!

there were other girls in my wow guild but the ratio was like 10:1 guys:girls

not sure why most other girls aren't into slaying demons and breaking bones and gore. I love that stuff lol

You know what's weird? I know a Kayla D. That's actually what we call her ._.

haha! cool, maybe I'm the one you know?! Probably not but you never know I guess.

my friends tend to call me Kay, which I like, or KD (as in kraft dinner) if they're teasing me which I don't like.

can't believe I just told you all that.

New forum rule, no calling me kraft dinner - I'm not a noodle you know!

posted a message on D3 and ATI
I don't know much about ATI and Nvidia and drivers and such things, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

But to me it makes sense to optimize the game to run equally well on both brands. having significant differences in terms of game performance on either brand would piss off the people that don't have the card from the manufacturer who is in the sack with Blizzard, if I could make an analogy !

    *sigh*

Where's the avy from? I like it. Looks like something from a DnD game.

I just googled some rpg looking pics and tried finding one that looked neat and kinda resembled me. This one does, although I don't own a sword and I don't wear leather bracers lol

@Kenzai: haha yeah you can ask me stuff, although despite going to school for it I am far from an authority on the subject having zero experience outside an academic setting. Having said that I can do my best to answer any questions you have, and I have access to my profs in case I don't know they answer.

You guys and gals have been really nice - thank you for the warm welcomes!

Btw, American Idol is something of a guilty pleasure for me. I love singing in real life and really the reason I watch it is to (and I am a little embarassed to say) get a glimpse of what it would be like to be a nobody and then become famous. I've always had that desire in me to be a celebrity or famous, but as it turns out I'm not haha. Oh well. At least I'm into cool stuff like Diablo and spy movies ;)

    Thanks for the welcomes!

    Hi Genesis!

I've seen season 1 of the new series, but not past that. I really enjoyed it too, I just haven't gotten around to renting the seasons after that (I missed them when they were on tv) :~(

    Thanks for the welcome!

posted a message on Hi everyone!
Just thought I would send a hello to everyone here! I've been reading about Diablo 3 a lot as of late and thought it would be nice to join a community of nice people that share the same tastes!

Anyway, my name is Kayla - yeah - a girl that can't wait for D3 :-) I'm 23 and am currently in college finishing my studies as a fitness trainer. (I can't wait to be done with school!!)

I've played almost all of Blizzard's games with the exception of Warcraft 1 and 2. I don't care much for real time strategy games generally, but didn't mind Warcraft 3. I've played (and recently quit) Wow after playing it since before launch in closed beta. I was lucky enough to meet and have lunch with some of the developers on WoW at E3 2003 in LA, which ultimately landed me spot in the Beta. They were sweet guys and all had cool warcraft shirts on! <3

I've recently started playing D2 again (bought the collectors chest) and am playing around with the classes to see which I want to take to 99 again (it's been years since I last played and can't find my old cd key and can't remember my user name and pass :( so I will have to start out again. I'm thinking either a sorc or Barb, but I've been reading something about hammerdins that leads me to believe that a certain paladin spec is overpowered and fun to play - any thoughts?

Not sure what else to say at the moment other than maybe what I like to do in my spare time when not playing games.

I love blogging - I've had a couple of different blogs and am now just in the process of creating a new one specifically for my D3 adventures. I'll let you all know the addy in a pm when it's set up if you like :)

I love movies too; some of my favorites are the LOTR trilogy, the Bourne movies, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Good Will Hunting, Mr. & Mrs Smith, and others I can't think of at the moment.

I also love TV - well sort of. There are certain shows that I cannot miss - they are:
American idol, 24, Hell's Kitchen and anything on the Food Network!

Anyway, I'd like to set up my avatar and signature now, so I will leave this post at that. Please reply and introduce yourself and I will do my best to get to know everyone as quickly as possible while using the boards!

    Night!

    Kay
