This was filed for Wrath of the Lich King on July 28th...and it was announced August 3rd @ Blizzcon.

Most likely they "intend to use" the trademark for the book...But theres always the chance it is for Diablo 3

So that's seven years in between those games. Sheesh! Lastly, Diablo's latest release, LoD, was put out the summer of 2001. So to date, out of those three games, the Diablo series still has yet to wait for a sequel as long as the other two games have. Since it's been only six years since LoD, compared to the other games that's still not as long.
