Nothing's worse than having an itch you can't scratch. :(. Oh to have been on the graphics team that put this together. I was going to major in art. We did not have computers back then. QQ. But I can at least work on posters of my favorite characters until I can afford to get this game. Then I will draw more pictures in between smashing demons. :D!

I found this website, diablo3fullgame.com, claiming that you can download Diablo 3 for free. I do not know who this person is but I get the feeling that this is phish bait. I wanted to warn you to steer clear of it. I hope it is legit but I know that nothing is free.

Rakshasas from the Hindu mythology are shapeless demons that come out at night and feed on the dead. That's more of what I was going for rather than the tiger rakshasa i've seen on google images.

My idea for the Heretic is that s/he's a melee fighter, wielding twin bladed weapons and relying on curses, effigies and demonic manifestations to support him/her in combat. If anything, they'd resemble death knights more than anything else.

That would would be really cool. I like that :D.

I would like to see a whip-wielding class. Like a Belmont killing vampires and zombies ;)

And about the Heretic idea. I both like and dislike it. Causing pain is a cool thing in Diablo, but not about having demons traped inside your.

I know the prime evils needed soulstones, but if you gather x amount of demons they should get a bit stronger, no? And there is no more solstones to use.

If its more like an ancient pain-god that grants them the power, fine! Or other things that doesnt involve "having demons inside in your body/soul". Its a concept we already have.

All in all, love the idea! - Demonic forces is cool "outside".
Thanks for the feedback and comments. I think you're right. The whole soul stone thing made it apparent that maybe demons are not the best way to go. Maybe instead of having a "inner demon" they could have some other kind of malevolent, ancient evil creature trapped inside that grants them "demon-like" powers. I was thinking maybe Rakshasas and have the Heretic's ethnicity be a cross between Indian and Middle Eastern - rakshasas being demons from Hindu mythology. Also rakshasas are shape-shifters, hence giving the Heretics various different manifestations and also magic users, hence using the external "demonic" powers.
The whole concept of the Heretic is actually based on the idea I had for the Pain resource system. I think its different enough to actually work in Diablo 3 without really impairing gameplay or straying too far away from the norm.

btw, I would love to see like a beastmaster class or something using whips...

When you said Rakshasas and "Indian" I thought of "Djinns". A mystic power. And yeah, the Pain resource was an cool idea!
djinns are noble, aren't they? i know rakhsasas are always evil. I also read a post where someone named a similar type of character the Infernal. I think Infernal is way cooler than Heretic and I might just steal that name.
btw, any cool ideas for active skills for the Heretic?

In middle eastern mythology, Djinns do not like humans very much but it interesting that the Queen of Sheba (Lover of Solomon) was believed to be half-djinn. Gosh, the Heretic would be a hard one since they were considered rebels. He could be like a ceremonial mage and be able to raise demons and the dead.

Rakshasas are half tiger or some sort of mutated tiger.

What do you feel about a "Witch" class? I have been working on a witch who would have some of the abilities that the Necro, Sorcerer, and Shaman had along with mastering alchemy and herbal potions. Main weapons would be staff and dagger. Both enchanted of course since it would be hard to kill a towering monster with just a knife and a stick.

No. This is not a MMO. This is not WoW. This is not XBOX Live.

Diablo and Starcraft have always been "free-to-play".

    And that's why SC-2 is pay-to-play, right?
There WILL be a monthly fee, i'm more than 100% sure about it.

what are you talking about? sc2 is not pay to play monthly reoccurring.... unless of course you are talking about having the need to purchase a copy of the game to play.

    Ugh, sorry.
Russian version has monthly fee and I was confused with it. Thought that everybody has monthly fees, lol.
Well then I wonder will there be any monthly fees in Russia for D3...

If this is happening in Russia, what are the chances that it could happen here? And if it does happen here, how easy would it be to have your subscription canceled other than not paying the bill?
Another Question is who in charge of the Russian site that charges a fee? Is it Blizzard or someone else?

I apologize for these silly questions. I just need to know what to expect when I purchase my copy of D3 and get signed up for BattleNet 2.

Once I get D3, are there fees that I will have to pay to play the game in Battlenet 2?

    100% no

:)I hope not. Do you think that there might be chance later on that Blizz could start charging? Like, after a couple of years or so, charging $20.00 or lower a month?

what exactly is the error you get when trying to log on?

if your using windows 7 you need to right click on D2 and click run as administrator. not running it as admin will block you from connecting to Bnet.

It was a long time ago but I think the message was "Could not log on to server".

Both are beautiful for sure. I am a bit of a classical music fan myself. If I understand you correctly in what you are saying, do you feel that Igor Stravinsky should be given credit for his music having a direct influence on the piece that Matt Eulmen is performing in his recording for "Lord"?

When I was playing D2, I got rather curious about multi-player and tried to connect but could not. I mentioned this in another post and was wondering if anyone else had this problem. If so, has Blizzard addressed this with D3 as far as fixing what ever problem it was if indeed it was a problem with Battle.net? It could have been a problem with my server as well.

posted a message on single player online
    Quote from Malminos™

    Quote from lilith_8352

My complaint is not with DRM or having to redo my character to play with others online. I also do not have a problem with change either. What I have a problem with is spending $60.00 for something I cannot ever own and that is a single player game of Diablo 3 that I paid for. This is a control issue, not a protection of piracy issue. Like one person said here, it is going to get hacked anyway and Blizzard knows that. This is something that has been sweeping across the computer market, to charge people a lot of money for a product that they cannot own. It is a question of ethics not change. Blizzard does not have to go to this extent to protect a single player game. They do it because they know people will put up with it. They are taking your money and not giving you the product that you bought. They are taking your $60.00 dollars and allowing you the privilege of playing your game on their server, NOT your computer. Blizzard has increased it's profits at your expense and if Blizzard decides to fold up and close down for good, you will be out of a game and the money you spent on it.

This is going to be a fairly cold hearted post.
You just have to log in to play the game. Worked with WoW, and works with steam. This crap about how you dont own the game is retarded and an exaggeration. The only people i think it really impacts is the "diablo 3 modding community" in quotations because (yes im going to say it) the Diablo modding community has been crap compared to games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

I can count on one hand the amount of good Diablo 2 mods, so that's no great loss, and as far as the always online thing, i can say from being in the beta a connection doesn't really effect the gameplay at all. The only people it will really impact is people who dont or arent going to have the internet, which is like 4% of the population so really, it isn't that big of a deal, Diablo 3 isn't something like healthcare. Besides, Blizzard's "DRM" is a walk in the park compared to the crap that companies like Ubisoft and the makers of Call of Duty force you to use; Of all the game companies that handle software protection, i think Blizzard handles it quite good.
Well, it is like I said, DRM is not a problem with me. I do understand the necessity of Blizzard protecting what it has created. As far as modifying an online or offline character, I am as retarted in that sort of programing as my original post. Several times when I tried to get online to check out multi-player D2, my computer could not connect. I do not know why and at the time, it really was not important enough for me to inquire about it with Blizzard. I was having so much fun with what I could do that it was not that big of a deal. I do not know if anyone here has had that problem. When I can get D3, I hope that problem is solved because I will have another round of hissy tantrums :boom: if I cannot get on. It would be a bit like giving a vampire a key to Bloodsource and the key will not turn. Oh what pain :( !

Well thanks everyone :) I do appreciate your answers and I appreciate the feedback on my first post as well. I am looking forward to my addiction to D3. I know it is going to be a lot of fun. I might be asking questions here and there about different weapons and other things like that. I also hope there is a place where people share their art work of different Diablo characters and scenes. I love to draw these things as well. I wish everyone a happy Diablo chop chop carnage and a Merry Christmas and Solstice!

I apologize if I came off rather aggressively earlier :(. I didn't mean to make anyone feel uncomfortable. I love this game and it is so hard for me to put it down when I start playing. I have been watching Hunter SC demonstrating what is in store for us when the game is released. The graphics are so beautiful with the mist and the colors. The buildings are really detailed too. I was just really disappointed when I found out about the online only playing. I probably will get the game. I am just going to wait a little bit because of my finances since I was laid off. I know it is going to be a great game :)!
