    Quote from maka

Working a job should never be allowed to be a substitute for playing the game.

Being at work right now, this sentence sounds especially ridiculous to me. I'd much rather be home playing the game, but that's life, and if I want to use the money I made while writing this reply to reap the rewards of someone else's leisure, I see no problem with that.

P.S. I plan on never spending another cent on this game.

I'm willing to bet that no single item actually SELLS for more than $10. Lawl@ all the people who are going to post their Stormshields for $200 for the next 3 weeks. The pay to win model is fine, I would be surprised if anyone actually puts more than $20 into this game.

posted a message on Inferno Monster Affixes that you hate.
In inferno invulnerable minions is bad. I had some "fun" combos in hell on my barb last night though...
I had Shielding, vampiric, frozen Dune Dervishes, anyone who plays a barb knows how annoying that can be.
Another was Desecrator, Plagued, Vampiric Act2 caster constructs that shoot the fireballs that leave burning ground. That was exhausting, I would just try to corner one and burn it down with cooldowns, then play "the floor is lava" until cooldowns were up again.

I can only imagine what it might have been like with another affix on either of those groups...

Yeah, I am not a fan of the snakes. I end up just peppering in the mirror image button between piercing orbs, hoping my mirrors will freeze them so I can get some hits off. BTW this is my build http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#bRYXOP!dfV!bbZaYc

For those of you who don't know Mirror Mimics can cast a freezing frost nova if you have it on your bar, I love that shiz.

I really have no problem with using the AH, but if the content is tuned around it, then they really didn't design a good game... they designed a good economy.

posted a message on Inferno Act 2 feedback
Last night, I made my first serious attempt on Act 2 Inferno. Up until this point I've mainly been farming Skeleton king in groups, and farming gold to buy upgrades on the AH. A while ago when I was grossly undergeared, I tried some of Act 2 and got 1 shot through force armor and figured it would be impossible. Anyways, I was able to get 5 stacks of NV from rares and champs and defeat Mahgda. I skipped packs that I wanted nothing to do with, specifically some rare bugs with Illusionist, Mortar, Jailer, and... like it matters after that. Every fight (I participated in) was engaging and challenging, but definitely possible. The most fun and exhilarating fight was a group of fallen elites with Waller, Mortar, Electrified, and Knockback.

Anyways, here is what I took away from the night. As most of my AH gear is likely from Act 2-4 Inferno (hard to say without item levels). It seems like the gear requirement for Act 2 is greater than someone could obtain from Act 1. The other thing that stuck out was 80% of the drops from elites, champs, and ultimately Mahgda, were below level 59, which is just frustrating. Inadequate loot from previous difficulties could at least be salvaged into level-relevant materials. So after 3 to 10 minutes of fighting a rare pack, the reward could end up not even being worth the time.

I understand that Diablo is all about the randomized loot, but it would be nice if the lame drops would at least salvage into materials that would make the fight worth your time.

Keep in mind the extra drops on bosses is a specific Nephalem Valor bonus, you cannot recreate this with MF gear.

posted a message on Why Diablo 3 will not last as long as Diablo 2.
I'd like to put out an open challenge to people who have never played Diablo 2 but are enjoying Diablo 3 (or not) to actually go play Diablo 2 and share your impressions. I for one really enjoy the new mechanics, Sorceresses in D2 were worthless until level 18 or higher.

posted a message on Gear Optimization Guide
Hey Guys, I wrote this guide to help players make smart gear choices with their characters. I noticed there are certain DPS boosting affixes that only appear on specific item slots, so I tried to outline what bonuses to go for on each slot. Making good use of the AH search feature can help you get this gear in an affordable manner as well.

First, decide what you'll be focusing on (other than damage). My suggestions are to match it up with the helm's socket bonuses: HP, gold, magic find, or EXP. These will always match up with your in-game goals. "I need gold for the AH," "I need to find more items," or "I need to beat this tough boss." So your gear should reflect this by picking out secondary stats based on your goals. However, things need to die for you to get anything you're after, so the primary focus will be on DPS stats.

Weapon - high damage, most important. A nice other bonus is either life on hit or % damage converted to life. Select one of those based on the weapon's speed. If slow, get %, if fast, get the set values.
Offhand - Again, high damage is ideal, but offhands can also have Critical Damage Chance, so get that. if you can't find crit, go for your class' primary stat.
Rings - Rings can have + damage as well which can be very effective. Rings actually have the full spectrum of potential DPS increasing affixes. One of the most powerful, is attack speed increase.
Amulet - Amulets have the same potential as rings, so go for damage and attack speed if you can.
Gloves - gloves can't have + damage, but they potentially can have attack speed (preferred), critical strike chance, and critical damage.
Helm- Helms really only have Critical Strike Chance as a DPS increase (other than class specific abilities). Ideally, you want a helm with crit and a socket so you can boost your secondary goal via the unique helm gem bonus.
Bracers - Bracers can also have critical strike chance, so unless you use a lot of channeled abilities, go for the crit.
Boots - Boots are the only item that can increase run speed. Everyone needs this, only get boots if they have increased run speed.
Shoulders, Chest, Legs, belt - for these items you can focus solely on your secondary goal + your class' primary attribute. For example: +Str and + vitality, or +Dex and +Gold find. There are no other DPS increases to get from these slots.

I hope this has been helpful for teaching you how to pick items for your character.

I call this the Pit Fighter Monk

There's a focus on area of effect attacks and runes, as well as a focus on survival. I would pick gear with focus on 1 specific resistance to take advantage of "One With Everything." I believe this build would be effective in grinding as well as pvp
