in my first play through with my sorc, agains't Cydea in act 3, I activated Archo at te begining of the fight hold down the right clic button and pressed 1 everytime it was up, she died in 5 seconds, and my sorc is only lvl 31, so I didn,t runed it either..., plus Wormhole rune on teleport saves my ass plenty of times, so is Diamond Skin+Crystall Shell, and frost Nova, is really awesome in CC too.
Hell, in Act 4 just after the begining when there was a huge pack of mobs and an elite, I used Archon and I was able to stay in Archon for a whole 2 min, because I killed them all so easily with archon lol...
IMO Wiz is OP, sure is squishy, but learn to use defensive spells and you'll kill everything
granted I didn,t saw NM/Hell/Inferno yet, but at least for Normal, it really dosen't suck
Hey, honestly they were right when they said the game doesn't start until nightmare. My Wizard breezed through normal, even act 1 of nightmare. Now I'm in Act 2 and its a bitch, I can hardly survive some champs, and need a potion if a mob is to big. Wizards work great against bosses because you can pretty much use a strong single target damage attack then switch teleport(diamond skin) if they get to slow, but mobs are when they have trouble.
I don't know if they "suck" cause I've never gone for in with any other classes, but they definitely squishy. I also think the beginning of the game leads you to play more melee as the first good moves you get are frost nova/wave of force, but later on those aren't viable so people have difficulty switching.

I never took off Frost nova, because when ennemies swars around you it's just a life savior to stop everyone and moving away but I no longer use wave of force i'm way to squishy for that, but if you use your defensive abilities well, then you just don,t get hit.
You know your supposed to end act 4 as lvl 30 right?
at least in my first playthrough i'm exploring everything and taking my time, thus I may be higher lvl than most, but I didn't want to rush in like people were rushing d2 before...

I just switched up my skills to include slow time and now I'm coasting through again. I understand whatyou wre saying about frost nova, you definitely need to have it or diamond skin(thats what I have) but I as talking about how starting out with those skills makes you get to used to being close to enemies and so you tend to have a lower flight distance. ALso this for a solo wizard, if you're playing in a group everything changes.

Yeah I would have put more long range skills at first, heck the only long range signature spell we get at low level is arcan missile, the others have a very short range.
