I'm not sure if I buy into all this, but the message they get across is for the most part pretty true. Rely more on your own devices, learn to grow your own food, invest in precious metals rather than paper. Those aren't bad things to consider.
What is this the french revolution? No, but seriously Don't underestimate people's ability to enact change. Although you also need to look at the fact that they call out to hackers. This is a potential warning sign. You need to under stand what change good or bad means and does to people and the world. The world is not able to be so perfect that even if this change happens that it won't end up the same or worse. As it stands at the moment I will neither condemn nor sanction this group but, I will warn that you be wary.
Sub note: I know all hackers aren't bad but, I don't think their calling for lawful actions.
Nothing is going to change unless something extremely drastic happens.
Well things will eventually stack up until a revolution is inevitable. Could be 5 years, could be 200 years, either way though there will always be people to lay belly down and wait to be walked on.
I think it's a good idea for everyone to distance themselves at least a little from the system. Learn to hunt, gather, or grow. Ensure your own future, don't rely on them to ensure it for you.
Nothing is going to change unless something extremely drastic happens.
It's happening in Greece, Spain and I'm pretty sure Portugal and Italy aren't far from it either. Only a spark is needed for a fire to start and it's almost happening without any help from hackers. Them digging on corrupt official's dirt would help indeed. Let's hope something good comes out of this. We've seen nothing good from people supposedly protecting "the Law". It's about time we check our alternatives.
The world's wealth is spread more evenly than almost any other time in history, our personal comforts and freedom have never been greater. Sure, there are tons of problems, but even a hundred years ago things were FAR worse, and before that? The average lifespan was less than 30 years. People shit in the streets. Believing in the wrong god in the wrong place could get you killed.
Some of these things are still true in some places now, but not even CLOSE to what they were, and their presence in the world is shrinking.
But apparently, bored fat kids on the internet think that our comparatively minor problems are worth some kind of silly revolution. Now they'll complain about it for the next year and the year after that again, on and on, and do nothing significant.
Ignore this stupidity. Go out and appreciate how awesome things are. Our society is not perfect, but if you expect it to be you're an idiot.
Things are not awesome. And whoever thinks they are, is either born rich or simply someone ignorant who hasn't experienced how the world really works. Sure, we live more than people did 100 years ago. But do we live better?
This video isn't about scaring us about an "upcoming revolution". It's about waking us up. The issues are there. We can hide, but they won't go away unless we do something.
The system is flawed, but it's the only one working. What's needed isn't to change it. It's to clean it up. Remove the rotten, selfish bastards that abuse our hard work for their own benefit and do something for ourselves. Which happens to be good for many more aswell.
Personal success you say? How will you achieve that when they don't choose you because you're qualified, but because you're cheaper and easier to manipulate? And when, after hard work, you ask for more you get fired to get the other, cheaper guy?
Things are going awfully wrong in this world. That's the only certain thing. Open your eyes and see for yourself.
Yeah seriously, how do you define better? If it's in health, well-being, and freedom, we're better than we've ever been. If it's something intangible like you seem to describe, how do you know it's so much worse now than any other time? What metric are you using? If you don't have one, how can you make that argument?
Shitty stuff happens in every time period. Wars happen. Famines, plagues. Religious persecution. Slavery. It has happened throughout history. It happens LESS now than almost any other time.
If nobody ever does anything, nothing will ever change. And corruption if left alone it doesn't go away. It goes deeper.
There's still people working the fields so that you can buy them at the supermarket. There's still children working so that you can buy cheap clothes. There's still diseases. In fact most diseases are manufactured to cause sales in the medicine business. We got computers and technology - and we also got even deadlier weapons and wars with more innocent victims. And there's definitely people starving. Statistics say the majority of the world's population lives in poverty. How will you feel about the "system" when you get fired. Or when your company dies from being over-taxed. That's the problem with most people. They don't look ahead. "Screw the others, every man for himself." What does good to the community, does good to each individual aswell.
*Edit*
Freedom? You think there's more "real" freedom? We're all slaves as it is. We're not people, we're consumers. That's our part in the system. If we live so much better, how come there's more suicides? How come that the crime rates are up and going higher? And how is our environment? Earth's ressources are almost depleted too. Soon to see the results of that when the gas prices increase for real.
And my point wasn't that "it's all worse than it was in the past". Even though it is worse than it was in the 60s. My point is that it's getting worse every day.
Is annoying when you post a video with little description. Not everyone has super fast internet and can't be bothered to wait for it to buffer on the off chance it might actually be good.
*All the awesome stuff Don said* (I really wouldn't want to quote that for your sake and mine)
This, all of this.
AND FURTHERMORE on the subjects Don didn't address:
Disease manufactured to sell medication is a silly conspiracy theory with no basis in fact. There's plenty of underhanded shit the pharmaceuticals industry does without making things up, but that's how many businesses handle things. It's not great, but it's better than sawing infected limbs off with dirty surgical "equipment."
On the subject of weapons:
Almost all our high-tech weapons of today are manufactured to minimize casualties, especially among civilians. Unmanned drones, advanced forms of armor, more precise explosives and firearms--these things are precise instruments compared to the weapons of the civil war, or the world wars.
Plus, the only real weapon of mass destruction--the nuclear bomb--has only been used twice, 70 years ago. The whole world still fears this weapon so greatly that it has changed the way wars are fought, and prevented many (including a potentially massive one with Russia). No one wants to offend major enemies or allies with such a powerful weapon at their disposal, so most countries are far more diplomatic. This, as with all of these points, is not universal, but it is none-the-less true in most cases.
Everything negative that can be said about the present applies to the past (even the near past!) tenfold.
If you think poverty is bad now, look back at 100 years ago. The poverty rates we have now are some of the lowest in history. People worked twelve hour days in factories from age eight and up to live with ten other people to a tiny house, at the turn of the 20th century.
Crime? Look back as far as you want, it's pretty much steadily improved in the last 100 years, with a few exceptions. Violent crimes are at some of their lowest rates ever.
Freedom? You can say pretty much whatever you want, and do pretty much whatever you want that doesn't cause harm to others, and it's legal. Again, there are exceptions, but nothing is perfect. Beats being beheaded for speaking ill of the monarch near the wrong person a few hundred years ago.
If you can name a problem, read about how that problem has shown up elsewhere in history. It's almost universally going to be far worse.
Edit: I just wanted to put it VERY succinctly:
IT IS NOT GETTING WORSE EVERY DAY. IT IS GETTING FAR FAR BETTER.

Yeah our wealth distribution is a joke and the corruption of governments is sickening.
In Indiana the police can now enter your home with NO warrant and they don't even need probable cause. Oh hi fourth amendment, sorry to see you're being trampled.
You can also be proven innocent if being detained at Guantanamo Bay and still be held there. Even after having a trial.
When you start violating due process and habeas corpus, that's when I start to question things. When you step all over the constitution to "protect freedom" but are destroying it in the process, that's when I get angry.
They passed the patriot act AGAIN, which allows them to tap peoples phones, provide search at a later point, even research library books that we've checked out.
Don said it, but I'll say it again unhidden by the massive amount of text.
This distribution is FAR further in favor of the poor than any other time in history. Imagine sliding that bar over 3/4 of that remaining distance remaining on the right. That's us less than 100 years ago.
I also agree that wealth distribution should not necessarily be even. To be even would require government intervention, and that is exactly the kind of tyranny that fucks countries up (I'm looking at you China). In a normal economy, some people make more money than others by virtue of their own hard work and effort.
Again, it's another case of our current situation being much better than it has been in the past. It's not perfect, but we're making progress.
I doubt you'd have the same opinions about everything if you didn't live in Finland, Don. And I'm pretty sure people from Norway and Sweden share your opinions. For that, you guys have a very good reason and your countries are very much exceptions to the rules. I've visited Sweden and saw how different it was from Greece, Germany and every other place I visited or heared about from friends who live there.
In most countries corruption is a big deal. And it keeps getting worse. Same goes with crime (again, with the exception of Canada probably). Exceptions can happen. But it doesn't mean it's like that everywhere. On the contrary as you see with most countries, the economies are ready to collapse and when it starts, it's all going to come crushing down. Europe is very close to that scenario. Should this happen, the States will follow and then it's the end. Every country owes to another to keep the cash flowing. That's a big issue. The corrupted officials just make sure they get a really good share and will live the rest of their lives rich.
"The System" as I ment it is capitalism. Which I think is the only system that can currently work, but not without completely unrooting corruption.
Also getting back on the original topic about "Anonymous". If almost every government wasn't corrupted, they wouldn't be so afraid of them.
*edit*
about the distribution of wealth, I think you guys are reading it wrong. It pretty much says the rich have about the 85% of the wealth and the rest is shared among everyone else. Which isn't exactly what you say natural, unless you're talking ancient Egypt where everything belonged to the Pharaoh.
But once again, until VERY RECENTLY governments doing essentially exactly what they do at Guantanamo Bay in their own local prisons was commonplace. People were whipped and hung in the streets in front of crowds. Torture until confession was a common tactic in jails around the world.
I don't know how many times I can say it. Yes, X or Y or Z is bad, but it used to be WAY worse, and it's improving constantly.
The problem here is that the people perpetuating this silly idea have ZERO understanding or knowledge of history

1.) Capitalism is the only economic model that has proven to work at all. Every country that has attempted socialist or communist models has destroyed itself from within.
2.) No one is afraid of anonymous, except maybe the underage girls they've terrorized and the innocent people they've harassed. Or some of the families of car crash victims, who anonymous people sent pictures of their family member's mutilated corpses to.
For every heroic story of someone being rightfully punished by anonymous there is another of some poor person being harassed or threatened or... I don't even know what you'd call it. What do you call the kind of senseless horrific act of sending pictures of mutilated corpses to the victim's families?
They don't deserve fear. They don't deserve adoration or respect. They deserve pity.
