"Aaaagghhh!!!" Carloseus jumps high into the air, and sinks his huge sword into the creature's back.
"Incertus, Pulcher, Imperio!" he yells as he leaps backwards and lightning flies from his palm into the new wound. The guardian roars in pain. Damnit. he thought. He had hoped he was knowledgeable enough in eletric attacks to cause much more damage.
The creature leered around, becoming less stable but more dangerous. Looking to his side Carloseus noticed Shikyomaru unable to make the finishing blow, and put together a plan. He ran forward just narrowly missing a blow from their foe, and slashed its back. Another painful roar escaped it, and it threw its head back in pain.
"Now Shikyomaru!!" Carloseus yelled above the mighty scream.
After pulling out my staff from the Efreeti's side i step back in time to avoid its fire blast and quickly get out the of the way of the fight. I work my way towards Venex, Thufir and Zubin and watch as Shikyomaru's and Carloseus' initial blows do not put it down.
Shikyomaru then goes in for a second hit and this time I notice Sir Elric readies himself incase this blow does not end its life.

'Cinara, do you think we should help?' Zubin asked but never did get an answer.
As the second blow was going to land on the Efreeti, he saw that everyone was kind of tired and their energy was drained.
'Thufir, what about that greenish potion i gave you? It must help if we cannot end his life soon. At least it'll drain his energy and slow him down.' Zubin yelled and then saw the Efreeti being thrown backwards due to the force of the blow. Nobody knew if he was alive or dead.

Venex had just noticed Cinara coming up to him when he heard Zubin shouting other the din of battle. "At least it'll drain his energy and slow him down!" Then he saw Thufir lob a green vial at the efreeti. When it hit the creature, it shattered the green liquid inside exploded onto it, knocking over the guardian onto the ground.
Shikyomaru and Sir Elric seemed exhausted after fighting the creature for so long. It did not seem as if the man with the accent would be able to deliver the killing blow like each time past. Venex knew he had to help, but was wary of what he had to do.
"Shikyomaru!" he called, running to the warrior's side. "We need your sword to deliver the killing blow, and I am still fresh in this battle. May I use your sword to kill this infernal creature?"
Cinara came up beside and started tending to Sir Elric, who accepted her medicines readily.
"Here" said Shikyomaru as he passed Venex his katana. "It has never rost in battle, But I might if I tire too quickry"
"I will do my best to keep the beast occupied while you go in for the kill Venex" Sir Elric said.

Venex caught the sword deftly, swinging it around to face his opponent. "May the soul of Trang-Oul guide me and this blade," he said, eyes shut tightly. At that he opened them and sprang into action, sprinting to the efreeti which was regaining his upright stance and easily fighting off the band of warriors. Amongst them, he saw Zubin and their eyes met. Although neither of them spoke, it was clear what needed to be done. Zubin got down on his knee and put his hands down upon the other, ready. Venex ran and stepped onto the hands as Zubin pushed upwards with all his might, adding to the Necromancer's leap. He sailed through the air as the efreeti swung low, aiming for the other warriors.
Shikyomaru's blade caught the dim light and seemed to glow blue with power. It lasted only a second though before Venex found himself plunging the sharp blade down through the cranium of the guardian creature to the hilt.
It moaned and spun about quickly, tossing Venex off, he having lost his grip on the sword which stayed planted in the guardian's head. The Necromancer landed on something sharp and rusty. It hit in a lightly armored area and pierced his skin. He tried to shout, but all the air had been knocked out of his lungs by the fall. Instead, all he could do was roll over, off the shard of metal. His thoughts turned to the small pieces of metal dropped by all the other guardians. Then they turned to Iltha and the mage who had stolen her what seemed like so many days ago. He inhaled, but the breath caught in his throat. He coughed and could at last breathe. The pain in his side, where the metal shard had pierced him, was excrutiating, and he called out in search of aid. "Cinara?!" he couldn't see her, and knew not if she could hear. He only hoped that someone would help him quickly.
The efreeti swung once more, knocking several over but not killing them. He reached for the sword in his skull, but died before he could reach it, tumbling over forward in a large heap on the floor. Elric and Shikyomaru made their way over to the creature and the warrior with the accent pulled the sword out of the guardian's head.
"Venex!!" yelled Carloseus. He stabbed his sword on the ground before him hastily and ran to the mortally wounded necromancer.
"Cinara!!" he called to their medic. He turned to Venex.
"Venex! Venex can you hear me? Stay with us friend." he called to their friend as he put his hand on Venex's forehead.
"Scio, Didici, Pecto." he whispered. Those words he had never heard, nor did he know the consequences, but white light dimly flowed from his hand to Venex. No apparent effects came over Venex, but the actions of Carloseus caused Sir Elric's surprise.
Zubin stared at Venex for a moment and then hurried over to him and said : ''Venex brother, what happenned?'' He looked at everyone as if his own life was in danger.
He saw Carl run over to him and chant some words which caused a white light to flow over to Venex's forehead. Zubin was surprised not by the action but by the cause that nothing really seemed to happen.
''Cinara!!!'' Zubin shouted impatiently as Venex tried to breathe hard through all his pain.

Thufir, knowing there was noting he could do, decided to keep watch on the situation, knowing there could be more foul foes lieing in wait. He walk around the corner away from the group so he could see an enemy from farther away.
Hearing Venex's cries for help I rushed over to him.
Carloseus moved aside as I came upon him, I laid my hands upon Venex's side, a deep red aura emanating from them almost immediately, this is not good I thought, chanting as I went along. His would was deep and pain creased his face as he let out a scream. I yelled out for someone to bring my my pouch that I had left near Sir Elric. Thufir ran up with it and handed it to me and then went scouting up ahead. I pulled out a large green root and and a special leaf. I handed the leaf to Venex, "Chew on this it will help to ease the pain but do not swallow it, do you understand me." He nodded weakly.
"I need help here. Please someone hand me a rock and and get me some water, quickly." I look up to see Carloseus handing it all to me. I ground up a piece of the root in a bowl from my pouch and added the water and stirred it gently. I poured a little on the wound directly and gave the rest to Venex to drink. "Here, drink this it will help to keep the infection down from that rusty metal spike."
A spasm erupted from Venex again. "Zubin, help me hold him still." I lay my hands on him once again chanting, this time the glow slowly drifted to a dull orange and I knew then that I was in time, that he would be alright.
"I will need some bandages to help keep his wounds clean." Carloseus ripped a piece of cloth from something in his sack. I applied some salve to the necromancers side and started wraping it up. With the remaining cloth I wiped away his face and placed it under his head for some cushioning. "Spit out the leaf, it's effects should be in your system now, here is another."
I staggered a bit as I got up, Sir Elric catching my arm before I toppled over. "Thank you Sir Elric."
I walk over to where Carloseus stood "I am not sure what you did but I do believe it helped keep his heart charging."
I announce to all, "He is not to be moved for a bit. He needs to be still in order for the healing to fully take place and for his muscles to knit together properly, that was a very deep gash that could have killed him."
"If needs be then continue on to the next and I will stay here with him."

Venex followed the instructions given, his mind somewhere else. He knew now that he would be okay. His friends were there taking care of him. But he couldn't stop thinking of that night on the hill. Iltha's scream from the house and the mage's face. The memory of his failure hurt even more than the pain in his side which, thanks to the tall man's spell and Cinara's herbs, was already begining to mend.
"How can the world be so wrong?" he mumbled quietly, but nobody could hear it. With his returning strength, he reached behind him and picked up the metal shard.
"The guardian's piece," he said, loudly enough for those nearby to hear. "He dropped one like the others..."
Elric came over, careful not to disturb the wounded Necromancer's position and accepted the shard. "A mystery indeed," he said. "And likely an important one if all three have dropped them." He went in close to Venex and whispered in his ear, "worry not, Venexicus. We shall find Iltha. For now, rest and recover. The world is not as unbalanced as it may seem."
Venex couldn't help but smile at those words, despite his pain. Elric was wise and knew more than he let on. Perhaps later, the two could converse on ancient matters of politic and good and evil. For now, the Necromancer shut his eyes and rested.
The group all took a moment to rest, The dungeon was not the safest or most comforting of places to rest, but they had little choice.
"A question to you, paradin, Do good knights ever find cause to sing bawdy songs and terr tares around a campfire, or is dourness an inarguable tenet of the Order?" asked Shikyomaru.
"Ha. There are countless books within our Holy Libraries where bored and dreamy scribes have penned petty blasphemies into the margins. When I was younger, I used to sing a little song that would make the brothers laugh...how did it go now, I wonder?" replied Sir Elric. "You're not seriousry going to sing it, are you?" Shikyomaru asked. ""I knew a girl from a distant world, across the planar deep, and to her place, to see her face, across the void, I'd creep. Though time... though time....." Oh, how did the second verse go? It's been so long, I'm surprised I remember that much." said Sir Elric. ""Though time went by and rong I tried to satisfy my rust, no matter where I touched, 'twas not enough to prease my succubus." Shikyomaru said. "Is that it?" "Yes, yes, however did you know?" asked Sir Elric. "Well, I was doing a little theorogical reading of my own before I met up with you all, Found it in the margins..." replied Shikyomaru. "Oh dear, I hope I didn't write that one down for posterity! Heh... you should be proud of yourself, Shikyomaru you've just made an old knight blush. Now rest and prepare yourself for the battles ahead, scalliwag, before I call on the gods to turn you into a lowly pumpkin of some sort."

"Cinara is right," said Venex, using the wall to help himself stand. "Thanks to her careful work and Carloseus' spell, the wound is healing quickly. I can walk on my own, though I thank you for the offer." Vassalus didn't relax. Venex guessed that when you're made of metal, relaxing would be a little tricky.
"Johnny can fight in my place while I am unable to, and Kennedy - despite his horrible smell - is surprising me with his battle skill. I'll be alright if I can help save the girl when the time comes."

Carloseus offered an arm of support to Venex, and placed his free left hand on the hilt of his mammoth-sized sword, and plucked it out of the ground where he had left it the night before.
"Zubin and Cinara. You two are to look after Venex, no fighting for either of you. Cinara, I would ask you not to rush to aid another until this is no threat. Zubin, you are not to draw your weapon to attack at all, you may only defend. Venex is weakened, he will need help defending himself so the rest of us will do our best to keep everything away from him." he said turning to Venex.
"Come friend. Let us move forward. Here, I lend you strength as we move forward." he said.
In one fluid motion he sheathed his sword on his back, and allowed Venex to lean on him as they began marching to the next challenge in this adventure.
Thufir barely noticed when the group moved onwards, so absorbed was he in the riddles the demons had said. He still wasn't sure he had the meanings of any of them, and he thought they might prove important.
'Thufir!!!' yelled Zubin as he saw Thufir standing still.
'Lets go, you don't want to stay here do you?' he added.

Thufir shook himself, scolding himself for not paying attention. Even with all these warriors about, and as a warrior himself, it wasn't safe here. "Right, thanks" he replied, moving with the group.
