its like wow but a bit more mature less cartoonish i don't know if its worth mentioning but i have been playing for a while and thought you guys might want to join in
very nice game the problem is its overrun by turkish people
if you dont wish to play with them i suggest the server carnac west
i myself play on olympia
if you guys want to play with me pm PuRpIeHaZe or thunderhorse
EDIT: some info
there are 2 races
karus (orcs) and elmorad (human)
there are 4 classes
warrior
rouge
priest
mage
has some decent graphics
with a warrior i can basicly be a warrior
with a rouge you can be an archer or a sin (assassin)
with a priest you can be a healer, a buffer (huge health bonus to your self and other people), or a battle priest (use a giant weapon) ussaly debuff other classes and buff them selves then beat down the opponent with a huge hammer
mage can use 3 types of magic fire, ice, and lighting
the weapons are really cool they glow
poison
glacier
fire
lighting
really hard to level though max lvl is 83 at the moment
Yeah.. I was just about the mention the Turkish people
They ruined the game for me. The community sucks in general and everyone always tries to make ridiculously overpriced trades
The main reason I thought sliding was bad was because of my ping. Its not insanely high, but its high enough to give the other person a definite edge
The main reason I stopped playing by far was the Turkish people, every time you say Hi to someone you just get gibberish thrown back in your face
If you can find a good clan or a group of English speaking players, and your ping is fine then I'd recommend you give this game a try
well its like WoW but more hardcore i guess you can call it and its all about team work to take down bosses some times you cant take them down and you have to leave to figure out a new plan becuase the boss will heal its self or something. there may not be much variety between the races but belive me when it comes down to the classes there are there all really well made nothing is overpowered and the game isnt based on gear but mostly skill
the s/s on the site are really bad they dont show the wars. the wars are amazing its pretty much 1000 people vs another 1000 people (karus vs elmorad) and its fun as hell

yes but there are english servers and if anyone wants to play go to the server olympia and i can get u into an english clan where everyone is nice after a while u understands what the turks say (a month or two)
I used to play this back around, I think, 2004 or 2005. I had an El Morad Archer, but I didn't feel like using a male character, so I sacrificed some the stats in order to use a female. Does the game still do that now (meaning the gender stereotypes)?
I never actually did any PvP in KO, either. I still had dial-up at the time (yeah, that was totally fun), so I stayed pure PvE. Now that I'm on broadband, I may give the game another try, assuming I ever get tired of my other games and/or find the time to do so.

ah good good i can get you into a nice clan if you play olymipa on karus. well some classes are better as females like the priest and its ussaly based on your build but i prefer priests so now im a woman nothing really sexist just how you want to build a charcter
I might, but it'll probably be awhile before I do. The new expansion for Lord of the Rings Online came out earlier this month, so I'm using the spare time I have to get my character to level 50 so I can justify buying that expansion. I'm also balancing a weekend Holic Online or Rohan Online group (whichever game we decide to play that day), and with the current goings-on IRL, I'm a bit packed.
I have always wanted to participate in a war, though. I didn't dare try the last time I played, since PvE was hard enough with my lame internet service.

LotRO isn't a bad game, actually. There are four races to choose from (Man, Elf, Dwarf, and Hobbit, with male/female for each one except the Dwarf), along with several different classes depending on your race (only Man can be a Captain, for example). You can participate in certain parts of the books through instanced quests, and visit places like the Shire and Bree (and the world is gorgeous, too; sometimes it's fun to just walk around and look at the scenery).
Unfortunately, most of the rest of the world is locked off for now. The Mines of Moria expansion that came out earlier this month added Moria and Lothlorien to the map, as well as adding two new classes to play. I've read somewhere that new parts of the world will be added with each new expansion, so eventually you'll be able to travel to places like Gondor, Rohan, and Mordor.
I know I'm rambling, but the really neat thing about the game in character creation. While there aren't a whole lot of options to choose from, you're given the chance to have a bit more customization based on your hertiage; for example, if you choose to be a Man from Rohan, you'll have light-colored hair and fair-colored skin choices, while a Man from Gondor will likely have tanned skin and dark hair. It's a pretty cool feature, and lets you immerse yourself in the game a bit more.
The only problem I've had so far is that the community is pretty quiet. Though I've never played it, I like to think that the LotRO community is, for the most part, a bit more mature than World of Warcraft's. Most people are pretty helpful though, especially toward new players, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about if you decide to try it out.
The monthly fee is right around $15 per month, and the game is constantly being updated. I think it's well worth the price.

as a matter of fact it looks pretty interesting, i just wish you could be an orc i always like fighting for the "evil" side but that doesnt really stop me from trying it. is there a class that wouldn't specificly need alot of ingame gold? and can i purchase this from buy it game stop or will i have to buy it online?

Actually, you can be on the evil side. Once you get a character to level 10, you unlock something called Monster Play, which allows you to create an evil character, such as an Orc, Uruk-Hai, or Warg. You'll be able to participate in PvMP (Player vs. Monster Player) in a place called the Ettenmoors, so people who don't want to participate don't have to.

Each class is about the same as far as in-game currency goes. Certain crafting classes may require a bit more in terms of cost, but they're all about even in the end.

I bought my copy at GameStop for about $20, but I'm pretty sure you can buy it online. I know there is a free trial available somewhere, so you may want to check out the game's website if you're interested in that.

I'm on the Nimrodel server, but I do have a couple of characters on Gladden (I recently restarted on Nimrodel because it's slightly more populated). If you pick up the game, though, I'll give you more specific information.
If you have any other questions, go ahead and send me a PM. I don't want to keep this off-topic for too long.
really? i have never had errors i have been playing it for a year now and its like my new diablo since i got banned.
you do no the game only came out 2 or 3 years ago. the game was terrble back then extremly bugged and it was plauged with hacks
they fixed it now, much better. dunno no i love the clan system how you have to actually work your ass of to raise your clan rank. taking down huge monsters to increasce your clan respect. if you get enough national points you eventually get capes and if you become one of the top ten clans you can run for king.
amazing pvp as i stated before. it doesnt come close too diablo but its like if your tired of diablo this is something to play

Can you delete characters yet?
Oh, and do people still slide? I hated that
people can combo now and the pvp is so fast paced its scary you have to have quick fingers one mistake and its death
yea the reason for the overpriced trade is the economy tends to changes alot
the community is very selfish
and sliding is used but only for pvm to avoid being hit
the game has some wonderful aspects though
the pvp is very intense
the artwork is very nice
great story line
my favrote is the bosses it took my clan like 2 hours to take the bastard down

500MB and the installer is screwed
"The drive or UNC share you selected does not exist or is not accessible. Please select another."
Select another? WHAT?!?!

damn now i wish i wasn't banned off of diablo
Ive never even heard of such stupid things
when did i say that?
I found out the reason that comes up is because the installer only recognizes C drives, not any other letter drives (like my E drive)
What good reason is there not to program something to install on different lettered drives...
