Izual's fall from grace, mirrors Lucifer's (Satan) in many ways. Also the two share a few common character traits. Pride being a big one.
No where in the bible does it mention Lucifer (or even Satan for that matter) falling from grace and landing in a lake of fire (or not), this is popular culture. And the first time it appears in writing is in Paradise Lost.
You could be an ass and say Warcraft started out being based on Warhammer, which in turn was based on Dungeons and Dragons, which in turn was based on LOTR. But over the years Warcraft has assimilated more and more Norse and Viking influences, esp. WOTLK. Oh and the odd North American Indian influence (ala the Tauren)

Yeah but usually the story of Lucifer is him being a top ranking angel but he was full of pride and wanted to create his own Heaven and rule it himself. So that's where I draw the similarities from.
Well Diablo is obviously just a cliche version of Satan to me. The other visualization of Satan. Fire and brimstone, red skinned, horned guy with a pitchfork. Just Blizzards it more beefed up.
Warcraft, LOTR, NARNIA= Nordic legends (dwarves, elfs, dark elves, dragons, giants)
Diablo=Cristian, Hebrew legends (angels, demons, golems, 1 dragon(?), hell, heaven)
