Interesting, thanks. What about polygon count? Is that easy to change as well?
No, that would be a pain in the ass. They would need a couple of more years to redo the game with more of those, its like starting from scratch. Unless they only intend to make minor changes. Though redoing the main character/bosses/spells should take less time. There is really no point in redoing those, the video cards of today and the rendering softwares we have can make a block look like a sphere without adding polygons, I would not bother with those.
This is diablo i don't care if you like the way it looks
ALL OF WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING IS .I HOPE IT DOES NOT STAY THIS WAY
BECAUSE NO MATTER WHAT IF OTHER.PEOPLE LIKE IT OR DON'T LIKE THEY NO THIS
IS 20 YEAR'S OF SO CALLED PEACE BET THERE'S MONSTER AROUND IT MAKE NO SENSE
WHAT SO EVER AND YES .THERE IS TO MUCH SUN IT'S ABOUT HELL PEOPLE AND KILLING THING ANDNOT NO RAINBOW WHO GIVE A FLYING F ABOUT HOW REAL THE WEATHER IS IN THE GAME DOES THAT MEAN THAT EVER SUNNY DAY IN THAT GAME THERE GOING TO BE A RAINBOW. AND A PONY PASSING OVER IT.I AM NOT A RAINBOW KIND OF DUDE NO MATTER WHAT EVER IF IT IS IN IT SO CALLED FOR STAGE'S I WOULD NOT WANT TO SEE IN A GAMEPLAY TAILER A RAINBOW AND PRETTY MUCH PREFECTNESS THIS IS NOT A HAPPY GAME ITS DIABLO.
Good first post friend, just USE SOME INTERPUNCTION NEXT TIME OK YES THANK YOU HOPE TO SEE YOU AROUND.

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
We have stood behind blizzard and they will bring us a game that we enjoy. I will not sign that petition. It has taken 8 years. They have finished everything, all they have to do is add the content.
The only thing I am confused about is the light radius, Diablo always had light radius, which is why you got creeped out in dungeons and caves. If you had low light radius you couldn't see what was coming, you could only hear it.
Lazy as in you told us to sign your ideas. Only the petition aint up because you didn't make it.
I never said that. I said that complaining about the graphics without complaining about the technology is pointless. I will not complain about graphics because I don't care, just giving an advice to you.

No not really. I disagree and don't need to argument myself with other than that the engine itself is the way it is. Dx10 capable. It will take time to add more polygons or make the areas, monsters etc. anew that were already made. It will take time, but if this is still in the pre-alpha stages or whatever suits Blizzard to call it- then it won't be years. If they haven't really spent a lot of time building D3 thus far, then it won't be such a problem.

We DO complain about technology. Not all of us though.
I think they can make it look better than modern RPG's. People have had 10 years to save up for a new computer between 2000 and 2010 (about 640$).
High system requirements is not an excuse for blocky, cartoon graphics.
edit: "High - system - requirements complaint" is NOT an excuse for Blizzard to make blocky, cartoon graphics.

DIFFERENT ARTISTS MAKES DIFFERENT GAME!!NEW CLASS of WoW above.
Diablo's got to have his pink dress. Without color he can't make a fashion statement, which is his job really: Is he not known as the Satin ? Lord of Fashion. Yellow is the new Black.
Seriously, all of this sounded to me like Blizzard was doing this on purpose from the beggining. But what would they get? I doubt it is a prank, because they're risking a major lot by staking their competence on the line there. It's all very confusing.
If they happen to make a claim that this was all a joke, I'll know for sure that it's not true. They would just be saving their skins and good name.
That's when I'll tell them: Fuck you! I haven't had a decent night's sleep these last few days dreading the rainbows, fuzzy bunnies and unicorns.
If by any chance there is some truth in this crazy theory of mine and they have been playing us for fools all along, all the while keeping grotesquity, blood and gore from me then know this Blizzard: you've lost your good name in one of your ' fans' .
Well gimme a couple of minutes and I'll post the screenies of them explaining why this was done that way and most of the Art director reasons for it.
Is there anybody here with some graphics development background/knowledge that can tell me what blizzard could possibly change at this point considering Diablo 3's stage of development?
Look at the technology used in D3 insufficient thread.
Point is, even at this stage no one knows for sure how far they've gotten to. I for one don't take pre-alpha talk as a canon. Grain of salt. Even then, it's dissapointing to see what has been implemented.

Um, I don't think they released the system requirements?
currently, the system requirements for D3 are clearly low.
Just look at it...
It's pathetic by today's standards.

I meant this complaint has absolutely no validity.

like previously quoted no system requirements out but it's blizzard and not everyone has a good computer, they fit their games to run good and run on most any computer out there. i also like to add that if you've played age of conan, it's beautiful and all but to the core theres so much wrong with it and in the end just not a fun game you(not directly you) want to play.
also, Cartoony? gimme a break.. the best FPS out there right now, TF2 and unlike TFC its not boring to look at or does it get dull.

That's the point. We have different tastes.
You like cartoony graphics like TF2, WoW because " its not boring to look at".
For me Age of Conan is "not boring to look at".
If D3 had the graphics from AoC and content from Blizzard, that would be perfect for me.

Hardly anyone does. Most complain about the color, and want it all very dark and murky like DII was, I hate how DII looked.
The question is not can. The question is will they. 1300, what is that among 4 million?
