And this might appeal to some skeptics of the whole "Tyrael is a traitor" theory.
In the cinematic that we watch after killing Diablo, Baal tells Marius "You've done exactly as you are meant to do"." Now we all know that Marius was "supposedly" gonna go through the gate and destroy the soulstone, but didn't, and ended up giving it to Baal. Now, after Baal has said what he has said, can one safely assume that "what he exactly had to do" was to NOT cross the gate into hell, but actually ultimately give Baal his soulstone, thus ensuring the Lord of Destruction's progress, and keeping Tyrael away from all suspision ? How can you trust a wretched old man like Marius to even do that feat?
My simple 2 cents. If this point has been raised previously, then excuse me.
nah, Tyrael told Marius to run and bought him time by fighting Diablo and Baal (or better said getting his arse kicked by them). Baal wanted him not to destroy the Soulstone to be whole again so he said what he said.
At least thats my interpretation anyway, i have no knowledge of the coming story or what might have happened there.
