In the spirit of 'it's all fun and games' (no pun intended) and as a convenient means of passing the time until Diablo 3's eventual release I thought it would be prudent for fans to voice what they might look for in new and entertaining boss fights. So, on that note; what is one looking for in a boss-fight, and to what scale should it encompass?
Personally, I am looking forward to hacking and slashing, crushing and killing, and even exploding my enemies, with this in the open, I am deeply interested in "boss-heavy" encounters. That, in a general sense meaning fights such as Duriel, where players are literally forced to think quick, run a little, and fight when one can. Enter Belial; the new bad-boy runaway boss of Diablo 3 -- well I can dream, can't I? -- In short, this fight would be far more complicated than the average Diablo realm boss fight; no longer just the typical boss and adds fight, but a real wait and adapt encounter.
This fight would span about a minute on average, maybe longer, where it would utilize speech, phasing, and just sheer hack-slash. Now, a player would enter a large platform situated on a very shallow body of water, the odds of which form a pentagram in conjunction with four other platforms, each using some type of obelisk to hold Belial in a pseudo-invulnerable state submerged in the middle of the lake. This fight would consist of three phases, during phase one a player's main duty would be to weave between the platforms, destroying each obelisk along the way, while dodging ranged attacks from the submerged Belial, unfortunately, with each obelisk destroyed, his damage doubles, so one has to be careful to truly avoid them. Upon breaking the last obelisk, phase two begins cuasing Belial's pseudo-invulnerability magic to disperse slowly. Phase two can be divided into four sub-phases, with each sub-phase Belial will randomly shout one of the following phrases, each with a corresponding summon that must be destroyed, but also rewards the player with health orbs.
"Your courage will fail!"
"You will betray humanity."
"Your hope will fade."
"You will be forgotten!"
After defeating each sub-phase of phase two, the third and final stage will begin. At this point, Belial will shout something a long the lines of, "You... <chuckles> You will die," thereby surfacing to reveal himself and rushing head-on to squish the player. In addition, zombies of forgotten heroes will also begin to surface from the lake; by the cartload -- these zombies can be utilized in order to obtain random health orbs in one's fight against Belial.
EDIT: Even though I only had a few minutes to sketch, I thought it would behoove me to at least illustrate my vision of Belial. Unfortunately, my scanner was not cooperating, therefore I was forced to use my MacBook's camera; excuse the terrible quality.
I picture Belial as a great greenish-gray demon, grotesque, misshapen, and hungry!
I like it, however, I think he needs to be a wee bit more deceptive. He is, after all, Lord of Lies. I could see this guy creating illusions of himself (with much lower health) that you would have to either bash on till they die, or figure out which one is which by seeing which one actually deals damage. Either you kill both illusions and progress to Belial, or you find Belial in the progress and after X damage the illusions disappear.

There are no stupid questions, just a bunch of inquisitive idiots.

I do hope there's a bouncy air castle in there somewhere.
