Ok so I'm using a 2 year old laptop that I purchased to play WoW on and I was able to run through the busy cities with maxed out settings. I've always been a mobile person however I don't like gaming laptops as much as desktop for the simple fact that upgrading is near impossible for the important hardware that's integrated into the motherboard (video card) one of my main upgrading focuses. Here are my system specs that I'm using a from my beta op-in:
My System Specifications
Operating System:
Windows 2.6.0.6002 (Service Pack 2) CPU Type:
Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz CPU Speed:
2.02 GHz System Memory:
2.5 GB Video Card Model:
NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS Video Card Memory:
2.05 GB Video Card Driver:
nvd3dum.dll Desktop Resolution:
1920x1200 Hard Disk Size:
232.88 GB Hard Disk Free Space:
141.12 GB (61%)
My System states 4GIGs of ram and I run a 8GIG memory stick using ready boost to help it along since windows eats a bit also. Lately now I've been on sites such as ibuypower.com and cyberpowerpc.com trying to build a decent tower under $1,000 but I'm not sure if I'm overshooting for 60FPS. These sites let you choose games such as SC2 or Crysis 2 and I basically select a video card based on being able to run maxed out settings on these games. If I were a bit more hardware savy I would buy parts and build it on my own, which is still an option, which is why I've turned to these boards for advice. Now I saw a topic similar to this one on the bnet D2 message boards however I wasn't able to post because I don't have my D2 CD key to post there I've tried using my WC3 key but it never works. Now I am aware that there are now minimum/maximum specs out to date for D3 but I wanted to be ahead of the curve and have some type of idea what and where I should aim in terms of hardware.
I'm not going to tell you exactly what hardware to get, but I will tell you right now I wouldn't worry 100% about looking at the benchmarks for running Crysis 2 on 60 fps high graphics or whatever. When I built my computer on ibuypower it said I would not be able to run CoD MW2 on anything more than high but I can run it full graphics while streaming HD. Now it would probably be better to get some more expert advice on what parts to go for but you can build a very nice computer on ibuypower if you don't want to build it yourself (Can get a lot better deal if you build it yourself and really nowadays its like using legos.)
Just my advice :>
Edit: This is my build from ibuypower and it was about 1050 without rush ordering on 4th of july weekend.

I am probably going to pick up a new comp. The only hassle of building one up yourself is the time commitment. You really have to spend a lot of time planning a build and fitting it in to your budget, grabbing the right newegg combos... it is tedious. So I am probably gonna grab a Dell, they have some incredible deals for desktops, esp. in the US with refurbished goods. Ibuypower is good too, for saving time I mean.
You can build a really nice PC for around 800-900 if you purchase the parts from newegg and put it together yourself. That's what I been doing as a hobby for a good while now lol.
Haven't done it for awhile but my last build was
4gig ram (anything more than this is overkill and not needed)
6core AMD 2.8 processor (I7 is twice as much bleh can even go with a faster 4core mine is set to 3.4ghz 4core atm)
HD 5770 gfx card (was running Rift at almost max without any problems)
1TB HD
OCZ 700W Pwr supply
Basic DvD RW drive
and had enough to get a nice cooler and Antec case with some modded lights
Can get better/cheaper now since this thing is actually older but I still love it.
Nice system indeed I must say from what you've posted. I was looking into the i5 2500k (even tho I don't overclock but just in case) and I'm not familiar with anything AMD processors or video cards. I've always had great performance out of nVidea but I'm guessing its apples to oranges. I've always wondered why AMD processors and AMD Raedeon video cards were always cheaper than intel and nVidea. I need to get back into cpu tech, my ps3 has corrupted me since I haven't played a PC game since I quit WoW in 2009. Its funny how I had this laptop made the year I quit, although my wife praised heaven until COD/PS3 showed up heh.

I have a very similar computer, that I built myself and spent only $650. You got ripped off.
