I don't think Blizzard is as bias as they are compelled to share accurate information about the game, nor do I feel compelling players to play together necessarily brings them enough profit to label money a main reason they are stating co-op is beneficial to speed and loot. I think they feel their game is best played with others, nothing more, so they cater to that concept by scaling monsters accordingly. But again that's just differing opinions I suppose.

Either way I too am eager to test this :).
well thats your view of the company, my view is the opposite. only way for us to know is if we worked at blizzard and high up to know what the CEO's are actually thinking behind closed doors. lol. wouldn't that be nice.
but yes i will test this immediately. i prefer solo play so i will solo the game on the WD first and then expand out with the other classes. HBU?

I enjoy a mix of both, if I want to really take in the game I play solo or with friends, as long as everyone has the same goal, I don't mind playing with randoms. With the quest party feature in D3 it'll be super easy to party with people doing the same quest as you. I'll likely be playing through normal nice and slow with three friends first, taking in every line of dialog, cinematic scene, and everything else. I'll probably play with those people the entirety of the first day. I'll eventually do a solo run, but I enjoy the presents of others in the game with me.
I'll be playing as the Barb, and prob won't play any other classes for a while, I really enjoy that class :D. The WD looks very interesting, and I can't wait to see a summon build on one.

yes i like questing with people too. the whole online experience is great. the barb seems the most popular by a large margin, which is weird considering how cool all the other classes are and the barb is the same class from the last 2 diablos. lol. ya i love having summons to do my bidding which is what i will be focusing on, I've already come up with a few different summoner builds that i think should be some of the best possible builds possible for farming/questing. with 5 monsters tanking for u and you spamming spells you'll be pretty much invincible. the thing i hated about the melee classes in diablo is how you insta-died a lot, especially in hell. and unless its way easier in D3 it'll be like that in inferno, insta dying, by being mauled by 10 guys at once who do crazy damage. for instance Force's play through the only time he got in serious trouble and died over and over was only on the barbarian. lol. and the fastest play through he had was on the wizard. hopefully the wizard won't be the most OP class like in D2...
Thread got boring when the conflict ended (joke by the way!)
I think it's good that they are not scaling the game on a 1:1 ratio. I do play solo a lot, but on the occasions that I decide to group up with others, it will be nice to know there is actually a point to it.
I don't see much reason not to group up anymore, especially in hardcore. Most of the issues involved in grouping in diablo 2 involved loot competition and town killers.
Now that loot is not shared at all, shrine buffs are shared within a certain range, and the only form of griefing I can forsee would be to set up some kind of monster killing trap with a summoning banner which can be completely avoidable, why wouldn't you pug it up for faster, safer loots?
One thing I have not tested is exp change based on number of players. The + experience items don't seem to get x4 when there are four people in game though. (lowbie mobs still only give 2 or 3 exp + your item total) Will look into this.
I will for the most part play alone. I do not know how many people in my Clan will play HC and whether their play style will match with mine. I do not know if you play HC but the most important thing in HC is about keeping the character alive and playing in a group can be dangerous to you if the other players are bad or do stupid things. People do play in group in HC in D2 but they play in private protected games and with their friends. The same will happen here.
I quite often like to play wacky builds or builds that use no gear and see how far they go. If I play D3 as long as I played D2 then I will be looking at making about 10k characters. I do not know if will since most of those 10k characters were playing D2 mods.
I also find it much more rewarding to play solo since that is more epic in stating that you did it alone.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
I too am one of those people that enjoy soloing all types of games. But from my memory of how fun it was just to hang out with people in D2 and do some boss runs along with just going through quests was, than D3 should be no different, allowing plenty of reason to group up. For me it isn't about taking every little advantage of the game as possible, its about having fun and that's what grouping with your friends is about. Shame on you for seeing this game as a tool for getting the most out of experience and loot and not seeing it for the amazing amount of fun it will be! This game isn't a chore, so stop making it out to be like that and making BS up about grouping with people being useless as it doesn't allow for any technical benefits.
It's nice to see a debate of two opposites that did not turn into an agressive flame fest..
Anyway, yeah basically I'm on Winged's side, I think for the most part co-op will speed up your progress, but I think there's a chance there will be areas where it would be faster going solo. Who knows. It will depend on the players mostly.
Because the mob's hp scale like this:
Players Health
1 100%
2 175%
3 250%
4 325%
Each additional player only has to contribute at least 75% of your own solo killing speed to make up for the additional hp. So by either attack things of their own or by buffing your own killing speed, if they can at least do that then your speed should not go down.
e.g. If you do 100 DPS in average then the second player must in some way contribute with at least 75 DPS (by himself or via buffs) to kill as fast as in the solo game.

do yourself a favor, remember the good ones and invite them to the next game.
newbie fest over.

soloing in a 4 man game will just waste your time.
Killing skeletons net me 63 total exp at level 10 with +31 bonus exp items solo (32 exp naked), with 2 people in game, 3 people in game and 4 people.
If you want to solo, its going to be in private games I guess.
