Recently playing with some friends, I think I noticed something quite disturbing. Do some abilities apparently ignore whatever resistances you have, or not?
For example, my resistances vary from 1100 to 1800 (yes, 1800), and yet, Fire Chains seems to melt me down at the same speed, no matter if I'm 1100 or 1800.
Speaking to a few friends, they say Molten, Desecration and FireChains all ignore resistances.
Is it true?
I'm wondering if anyone knows which spells act like this, or if there was any mention by Blizzard to fix it if so.

Nah they don't ignore resistances. As far as your issues, it's probably down to lack of health/armor/life on hit/effective use of CDs. What class are ya?

Barbarian / Mage.
With the barb, 1500 LoH, 60k health, 8k armor. Btw, would armor help against elemental too? Or just resists?
Anyway, I'm leaping / charging out of those and if they are on cool down, I'm dead within 2 or 3 seconds. With certain mobs, jailer / waller / vortex, it makes it close to impossible to survive. Usually ending in a 2 / 3 death to kill ratio.
Playing in a group is WAY better, but solo, only act I can do comfortably is 1.
Yep, my play style is most likely what hurts me the most. Not that I like to sit on pool of desecrations or any other kind of damage on the floor, but I like close combat, which means pain.
Barbarian, with Passives: Nerves of Steel, Berserker Rage, Superstition
More offense, dual wielding:
Health: 63k
Armor: 7047, 70.14%
Physical: 1072, 78.13%
Fire: 1225, 80.33%
Arcane: 1150, 79.28%
LoH: 986
DPS: 12606 (then 25% more when at full rage)
Full defense, S&B:
Health: 55k
Armor: 8466, 73.84%
Physical: 1152, 79.34%
Fire: 1305, 81.31%
Arcane: 1310, 81.37%
LoH: 986
DPS: 8607 (then 25% more when at full rage)
Using leap and charge to gain more survivability at times and health when revenge isn't enough.
With that much armor/resists and LoH (and decent HP) you really shouldn't be killed that easily.
Do you instantly die or do they wear you out? (I'm asking because the DPS seems to be a bit low) With all those defensive stats, I'm pretty confident you can switch a couple skills around to optimize damage (which is probably what you're lacking).
DPS would be my guess. Your armor seems a tad low but your DPS seems really low for act 3. I'm sitting at 14,000 dps on my monk and farming act 1. You should probably have around that at least for act 2 and not sure about 3.

Zero,
I leap in, star to fight. Health fluctuates between full to 50% constantly. At a certain point, I killed 2 or 3 mobs and then revenge couldn't keep me alive anymore. Had 3 or 4 of those gargoyles joining the fight a few seconds after it started, however, if I run after them melee mobs kill me. If I try to kill the melee mobs first, the gargoyles kill me.
I then attempted the same with more LoH, 1500 this time, at the cost of lowering about 900 DPS, just to see if that would do it. Same results.

Daemaro,
I think this is the ancient old question, more DPS or more tank? I always thought that as long as you're dying, you need more tank, and considering I can't kill white mobs, which have no enrage timer, I don't see a reason to go with more DPS, or is there? I don't think I'll reach 90k DPS as some barbs do to just slam their way across mobs. Also, it is not exactly the kind of gameplay I like.

Got owned at the first pack of white mobs.
