After seeing all this hate on unrealeased game, I had to write my opinion on this.
I knew, that Diablo 4 won't be announced this year on Blizzcon and I was hoping for at least big D3 patch. I don't care about D2 remaster since I can just play D2, I don't need better graphics.
Aaaand we got Diablo Immortal, and MMO for mobile. I always wanted to play Diablo MMORPG, but I wasn't sure if that's good idea, maybe Diablo 4 would be better. Now we are getting both, we just need to wait more for D4 and meanwhile we can play Diablo Immortal. And if they won't fuck it up, we can actually have a lot of fun. I'm glad I can play it on mobile since I don't have that much time for PC games with my kid, but those who wanna play it on PC can just run it in Android emulator. Maybe it won't be ideal, but still, this is just game we got before we get long time awaited Diablo 4.
So, I'm looking forward for both of those games, even tho I will have to wait more for the one I really want.
your opinion is your opinion, no one can argue with that. regardless of what you think about the mobile game, the problem everyone has with it is that it was over hyped... over hyped and under-whelming. There was no need to release a video hyping blizzcon to the diablo community for this. I think that's why people are a little disgruntled.
I think if they had announced or said ANYTHING else about the "other projects" while also having diablo immortal it would have done a lot to stem the flood of disappointment. They started a hype train and got people excited for a game no one really asked for.
That said, while I am disappointed that it's a mobile game with D3 assets, I'm always interested in more lore/stories and zones to explore. I think there will be things to like in DI, but the platform is not ideal.
If they truly are working on d4, they should have just gone with something like «while we know you all want d4, we’re not ready to share anything about it yet. But while you all wait for it here’s something we can share with you while you wait for it»
That would save them from all the hate that is currently going on. Whoever decided that hyping blizzcon for this did a shit job tbh.
But this is exactly what they said. So I don't really understand, why you guys were so hyped when they said that they are working on more Diablo projects, but they are not ready to reveal Diablo 4 yet.

when and where did they say that? I did not hear / see any mentioning of D4 or something similar.
They mentioned it on the Diablo 3 blog about a week or two before Blizzcon:
It is litterally d3 on mobile, they didnt even bother to add any new classes.
They had the perfect opportunity to make this a d2/3 hybrid the necro doesnt count since he is now apart of d3.
For me, it is very frustrating, the community clearly does not want a mobile game, and they have made that vocal for years, while I have no problem with them introducing a mobile game based on our beloved franchise, this delivery was atrocious, it seems like they announced it, just to announce it because they had nothing for us, which honestly would have been better.
I'm actually playing Lineage 2 Revolution in emulator on PC and it's not bad. But the game is of course terrible I'm not sure why I still play it But there are also some good games on mobile and I think, if they won't fuck up, Diablo Immortal might be actually fun game.
Yes, that's nothing for hardcore Diablo fans (except those who needs to play even while taking a shit). But this will for sure bring a lot of new players to Diablo universe and it will also bring money, so let's hope they will use them for development of other unannounced Diablo projects.

Blizzard announced in August that Diablo Immortal will no longer release in 2021, with the team now aiming for release in the "first half of 2022".
Diablo Immortal is an upcoming free-to-play video game in the Diablo series, designed primarily for mobile devices. The massively multiplayer online action role-playing game takes place between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III.
The issue isn't with the game, nobody cares that Blizzard are releasing a mobile game that makes sense.
The issue is the clear disconnect with the fact they thought it was a good idea to announce it at Blizzcon. It was a move that was so absurdly stupid that 4 years later I still can't believe it happened.
To hype up one of the franchies your best known for to your majority-PC devoted playerbase, who have spend possibly thousands to attend your event all to announce a mobile game. I can't even comprehend what leads one to this conclusion. It shows such a deep lack of understanding and disconnect from their community that it creates concern that they have any clue at all what they are doing. That one single act makes me think D4 is going to be bad, because to make such a decision shows me they just don't understand their community anymore.

People who think you can port this to PC or play it on the PC with an emulator clearly never played a recent or "modern" mobile game.
