Description: The painting of him above, was done quite recently and is a good likeness of the old fellow.
Background: Born in a shack in Bear's Hill, he is the son of a poor family. His father was a miner and his father's father before him. His mother was an orphan and lifelong breadmaker. Tate is an only child and has never taken help from anyone, he's muscled through all life's obstacles but is always willing to lend a hand. After his parents died of old age he left the underground mines to pursue a more adventurous life, wandering, working here and there but always on the lookout for gold or other valuable ore to be mined.
Behaviour: At his age now he is considered a cantankerous old coot, but beneath the surface there lurks a darker, wise old wolf who puts up with little. Slightly erratic, he is unpredicatable and very capable. At a glance most would find him harmless, but he has memories of people and other beings who have tried to rob or even kill him. Those tales can only be told by the unmarked graves left behind; he has never said a word. He thinks his problems through and would be considered a schemer, he is also someone who has timely strokes of luck.
How he was captured: Tate had been making his way back from panning a small stream in some nearby rocky hills south of a small village, when a demon army suddenly appeared in town and began to gather up all the villagers. Tate was caught in the turmoil and was forceably subjected into one of the many caravans that carried him and many of the other townspeople away. It seemed like such a long time ago. The train ever moving him and his fellow prisoners away to Heaven knows where, places far from home, places he had never seen before. Now he sits and stares as his head bobbs with the rough jolts of the beastdrawn cart he is cramped in. His mind nearly numb with the fear and death he sees in every village his demon keeper's wagons roll into. An idea was beginning to bubble to life inside the old man's head. He would get his chance to escape. He had a plan.
--==Weaponry, Armor, and Powers==--
-Weaponry: Pick-axe. One end sharp and the other flat, for prying. Tate has also modified it with a light-weight, short, thin spike that protrudes from the pick's head. Great for jabbing at intruders or would be enemies. He also carries a knife.
-Armor: Nothing but the shirt on his back.
-Powers: He is a very strong man, mining all his life has made his fists weapons and even more so with a club or axe in hand. His mind is his aide, his thoughts like his pocketwatch always churning and ever turning . His cogitation is an advantage over most. And he's just plain lucky to boot.

"So you have come here for information? I have some for you..."
Name: Simi
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Race: Demon
Height: 3’
Weight: 75 lbs.
Eye Color: Changes from orange to black
Simi was born to a demon father and a half-demon mother. Her mother had some human corruption in the family line, which her family tried to keep secret. When she became pregnant she grew very worrisome hoping that her baby would come out all demon. Her husband wondered why she was so worried and asked her about it. She broke down and told him of her corrupted lineage, at first he was furious but realized that he loved her still. The baby was born and luckily was all demon with a huge appetite for human flesh, but they soon learned was also not very intelligent. Every human servant they brought in Simi ended up eating. Her father soon grew to despise her because her mother was spending so much time with Simi trying to get her to learn her basic spells, potions and castings, that she hardly had any time left to be with him.
One day while looking through an old tome, her father came across mention of an artifact that would turn humans into demons. Her father dug up more information on this artifact and felt it would work on his wife. He found out that a demon named Algarept had the artifact so he arranged a meeting. He learned that Algarept was short handed and offered his daughter to him for the artifact as payment. Her father lied to Algarept about her spelling and casting abilities to make sure the trade went through, and it did. Simi was to be his familiar. She would learn casting, potions and spelling and how best to travel along ley lines to get anywhere quickly from him. Simi started out rather badly. Her claws would get in the way of her spelling and bits and pieces of her meals would be stuck on them and they would get into her potions and end up nullifying them. She loved to shred her meals. She was very strong for her size and would hunt down large game to eat. She even ate an entire goatman once, though it did not sit well and left her expelling gas. Algarept, was also a trader of sorts. He found things other demons needed and charged them heavily. On one particular occasion, he had brought in a fat human child that was very adept with magic, he was going to be part of some big trade Algarept had going. Simi, not having had a human in awhile, smelled the air and her mouth started drooling instantaneously. She walked over and stood next to the human, sniffing and licking it. Algarept was getting ready to strike Simi to get her away from the human when a customer came in.
Namphiel had come into Algarept’s store looking for a demon that would have no trouble being around humans, saw Simi licking and looking at the human lovingly and must have thought that she liked them, in a non-food way, and decided to take her on. Algarept happily gave her over, in addition to some other things he needed. Over the next couple of years, under the tutelage of Namphiel, she grew to control her appetite somewhat and even to appreciate a few of the humans she came into contact in her dealings with them. Simi wasn’t able to spend much time on her potions and castings as she had with Algarept, but she enjoyed being able to go out more into the human areas and try the meats they had. Namphiel sent Simi out regularly to collect things to use in spells and to trade for.
One day she was sent out to collect a certain person and she tried to get the person but for some reason her hunger got the best of her and she ended up eating them. Fearing his wrath she decided to capture another human that looked similar so she wouldn’t go back empty handed. On her way back to Namphiel, Simi was licking her claws making sure that no human flesh was left so Namphiel wouldn’t be suspicious, when she was grabbed up by some huge demons and charged with being a accomplice to a traitor. They chained her in special heavy chains that and threw her into a cage. Simi screamed and screamed that she didn’t know anything and that she loved to eat humans and even showed her claws to them to see the human flesh, but she had picked them clean and the demons just laughed at her. She pulled and pulled at her chain but could not get loose. After struggling for awhile, she slumped down and tried to think how she was going to get out of this.
Weaponry: teeth and claws
Armor: her hard demon skin
Powers: Can compel weak humans, minor spelling, can travel ley lines though doesn’t always come out where she wanted, working on controlling fire, has a nose for finding unique magical items

Name: Ignis Karnagi Gender: Male Race: Human Height: 5’ 9 Weight: 173
Eye Colour: Hazel
Desciption: See image.
Background: Ignis was born in the Westmarch town of Rykan. His mother and father worked in the fields, growing hops for the local tavern. It was a quaint life, spent playing in the woods with his friend Cang, helping out around the farmstead, and listening to stories of his grandfather, who shared his name. His father would tell him stories of the grand adventure, stories of great heists, and of cunning espionage that were all a part of grandfather’s life. He was some sort of spy, Ignis figured. His father would often tease his mother about Ignis becoming more and more like his grandfather every day, Ignis did not know this at the time, but this would lead him down a road he did not want to take.
His friend Cang lived an honest life, his parents had immigrated from a far off land, and had unfamiliar customs. Cang meditated daily, and followed countless codes of honor and morality. This would not have bothered Ignis, had it not made it impossible for Cang to take part in reenacting the stories of his grandfather. They could slay demons and insurgents all day, but those weren’t the stories that Ignis found most interesting. He craved for the thrill of the heist, his sense of adventure burning away at him.
So, Ignis trained himself. He would sneak into houses late at night, and rob them of everything of value. Art, money, pottery, anything that could be sold for some coin. He sold these goods to a man who frequented the tavern his family worked in, pulling in a fair amount of coin for his thievery. His family had no idea: only Cang knew of his pastime. Though he never voiced it, Ignis knew he disapproved. It went against all that Cang was taught in life, yet they remained close friends until they were 16.
Cang was sent away, he was to train with the monks of Xun Island. His ancestors had before him, and so would he. Ignis was saddened to see his best friend leave, but held hope that they would meet again in the near future. He continued on with life, just as any other person would, with his habits beginning to make him quite the fortune. One night however, the man whom he sold his merchandise to came to him with an interesting offer..
Ignis was to deliver a package to the local drug lord, in exchange for a hefty sum of gold. The man entrusted Ignis with this, because from past dealings, he knew he would be able to get it done. Ignis accepted, and eagerly delivered the package, mouth watering at the sum he was to be paid. Months went by, and these deliveries became more and more frequent, and with much more bulk. He was slowly accepted into the drug lord’s inner circle, as one of his most trusted delivery boys, who dealt a little on the side. The gold was flowing into his pockets, he never thought it would stop.
And stop it didn’t. With the drug lord becoming more and more well known among the Rykan underground, he was beginning to become the target of assassination. He scrambled for personal guards, Ignis being one of the first to enlist. He had a knowledge of fighting from his previous rank, deliveries did not always go as planned. Yet, he knew he was not on par with the level of skill his new rank would demand. Thus, he trained with the gang’s enforcers, spending several months sending warnings to the other gangs. He developed an effective, albeit underhanded style of fighting. Peculiar though, was his choice of weapon. Ignis chose to fight with a long, spiked chain. It complimented his dirty techniques perfectly, and he became known as "The Shackler" to the Rykan underground. He knew he wasn’t the best fighter in the gang, but he was confident that he could best all but 3 of the gang’s fighters. With his new found skills and rank, Ignis grew more and more distant from his family. Letters stopped arriving, visits became less frequent, and Ignis no longer visited them in turn. He was becoming independent, and he loved it.
With his new rank, he stared death in the face at least once a month. It was something he counted on, and something that gave him a rush like nothing else. Men came for him in the night, loyal servants turned traitor, men even attacked him in the streets. Ignis was always there to turn aside their blades, and take their lives in turn. His old life was a thing of the past, he had a new family now. He thought his position secure, until the day the demons came.
Where the other gangs failed, the demons succeeded. Their boss was outside when fire rained from the sky, he was caught in the path of hellfire and was obliderated almost instantly. Ignis was quick to duck aside, and found himself facing a horde of demons. The town guard turned them back, but Rykan was left devastated and vacant, with only the occasional soul wandering the ruins of the once glorious town. Ignis led the remainder of the gang in the ruins for the next three years, managing to outwit the demons at every turn. Then, one day, he met an old friend in a back alley…
Behaviour: His wit was inherited from his grandfather, there was no doubt of that early in his childhood. As the years passed by, his work in the Rykan underworld left him jaded, even bitter to an extent. Became self sufficient soon after the demons invaded sanctuary.
How you were captured: Wasn't.
--==Weaponry, Armor, and Powers==--
-Weaponry: Long, spiked chain, with throwing 2 throwing daggers positioned on his forearms, and 2 tucked in his boots.
-Armor: Studded leather armor underneath a dark red cloak, bronze bracers on each forearm with throwing daggers set in them, primed for throwing.
-Powers: Unpredictability: Due to Ignis's unorthodox weapon and techniques, he is able to surprise opponents, and easily adapt to their fighting styles.
Speed: Years in the underworld of Rykan trained Ignis to be quick, both on his feet and with his weapon.
